25.01.2022 Beat Negative Thoughts Our mind and our thoughts play a massive part in determining our success. We've all had negative thoughts, I know I have 'You cant do this' 'You're not good at that'. Being aware of these thoughts and how to tune them out when they do arise can help you to reach new heights you might have not realised you can achieve in hitting your goals. ... 1 Counter them. Remember a situation in which you felt assured and calm. ... 2 Keep your perspective. Things are rarely as bad as they seem at first. ... 3 Segregate the thoughts. Stay clear on each separate issue instead of letting them become a jumble. 4 Stay rational. Don't let panic get the better of you. ... 5 Look for the positive. See more

See yourself overcoming any obstacles during the process. Stay tuned for day two <3 See more

25.01.2022 Hi all Happy Thursday! Whitney here, the Co-Director of Champions Gym I thought it would be a good idea to reveal a little bit about all the hard work that gets done "behind the scenes" and our amazing team who turn up every day to make it all happen. Social Events... Sparring Days Gradings Parties Highlight Video Educational Content Staff Retention Club Management Coach Upskilling Is just a small list of all the activities that this team coordinate together... A lot of members ask us what we do between classes - go to the beach? I wish... I always say to people, running the classes is the fun part of the business. Once the mats are empty, this group of incredible individuals gets to work and make Champions Gym the amazing place it is. Each member of this team brings their own unique skill set, love for all things health & fitness and they genuinely want to see our members reach their goals. We are beyond grateful for these killers! Often the all the work that goes on beyond behind closed doors is taken for granted, not getting the credit they deserve. SO thank you... @blp__ @conor166 @pamornmartdee @ciaranmully @slimjongil @jorjagoff19

25.01.2022 NEW AT THE GYM Joining a new gym can be a very nerve-wracking experience! New people, new coaches, new environment...... Before you know it, you might start talking yourself out of the entire experience. You might come up with excuses such as; I am too unfit. I don’t want to hold anyone back. I won’t know anyone. What if nobody likes me? I don’t know what I am doing. Here at Champions Gym, we pride ourselves on NO EGO and all our members started from the beginning, just like you. We all know the feelings you're experiencing right now, and as a community, we're here to help you through this initial phase. WHAT YOU CAN DO? Introduce yourself to other members. - Everyone is friendly and supportive, so don't be afraid to say 'Hey!' and start making new training buddies. Have welcoming body language and an open mind. - It's easy to make stereotypical assumptions when trying something new. Trust us, you may be surprised by how much you love it! Give it your best shot! - We will do our best to deliver the best experience to you, but at the end of the day, you'll get out what you put in. Ask for help. - There are no stupid questions! Please don't hesitate to reach out to a member of our team at any time. Be consistent with training times. - Having a routine and building habits will help you immensely along your journey.

24.01.2022 The most common question I get from people trying to lose weight Coach, all Ive eaten this week is good/healthy food and I still put on weight!!! There is a couple of issues with this statement.... 1. You should not be labelling your foods as good/bad or healthy/unhealthy 2. Thinking eating healthy foods causes you to burn fat As you will see in the picture, I have two different meal plans, one a healthy option and the other an unhealthy option. Which do you think will cause MORE weight gain? Trick question, youre going to gain the same amount of weight on both plans. Whether the food is good or bad you still need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. This doesnt mean youre just going to eat donuts and fried chicken for all your meals now as they are obviously more calorie dense and will leave you feeling hungry and probably lethargic/gross. Filling yourself up full of nutrient dense foods that will keep you satiated and full of energy is the way to go. Remember keeping to the 80/20 rule. 80% nutritious foods and 20% foods that help keep you sane. See more

21.01.2022 3 THINGS YOU NEED TO REMEMBER WHEN GETTING STARTED EASE IN The biggest mistake we see clients making is training too hard to fast. If you have been relatively inactive prior to joining a gym, it is important to slowly ease into your new routine. This can lead to injuries, sickness, and burnout.... If you are feeling restless, here are some options to keep you busy. Get your meal prep organised, jump outside for a walk or find a book/podcast. BE PATIENT Remember Rome was not built in a day! Far too often we see clients give up on their goals way too early because. No two bodies will respond to change in exercise or nutrition so when you get started you will need to spend some time getting to know how your body responds. LISTEN TO YOUR COACH Everyone has their opinion on health & fitness, what works, what you should try, and what not to do. The fact is, your coach is the most qualified person who has dedicated their entire life to helping people just like you. They are highly motivated to see you reach your goals, so don’t listen to Karen at the office about her shake diet, and go all-in with your coach. See more

18.01.2022 Is F.E.A.R. Holding You Back? It’s our sense of fear that derails success more often than actual failed attempts at success. It’s not fear that holds you back.... It’s F.E.A.R. What is F.E.A.R? F.E.A.R. is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. There’s no true threat of immediate physical danger, no threat of a loss of someone or something dear to us, actually nothing there at all. F.E.A.R. is an illusion. Something we fabricate in our own minds and pretend is real. It’s a fairy tale we tell ourselves that keeps us from doing what we really want. False evidence appearing real.

12.01.2022 5 STAGES OF BEHAVIOUR CHANGE The Dream goal, but why is it so hard to acheive? ... It is shown that without changing our behaviour we will never truly achieve our goals. When it comes to health and fitness there is many layers that we need to consider such as; Training adherence Nutrition Recovery and stress Work Trying to balance these reminds me of the spinning plates performance by a busker. If you only pay attention to one then the others fall down. Instead we need to identify what stage each one is currently in and put a plan of attack in place. Here are 5 stages of behaviour change. Pre-contemplation is the stage at which there is no intention to change behavior in the foreseeable future. Many individuals in this stage are unaware or under-aware of their problems. Some people call this phase "denial." Contemplation is the stage in which people are aware that a problem exists and are seriously thinking about overcoming it but have not yet made a commitment to take action. Many people in this stage can be described as ambivalent. They want to improve their blood sugar, but are not yet ready to cut back on eating sweets. The Preparation stage can be considered the information gathering and planning stage. The preparation stage is the most important. Fifty percent of the people who attempt behavior change and skip this stage will relapse within 21 days, according to Prochaska in his book, Changing for Good. Action is the stage in which individuals modify their behavior, experiences, or environment in order to overcome their problems. Action involves the most overt behavioral changes and requires considerable commitment of time and energy.During the action stage, one implements the plans developed and information gathered in the preparation stage. Maintenance is the stage in which people work to prevent relapse and consolidate the gains attained during action. For addictive behaviors this stage extends from six months to an indeterminate period past the initial action." See more

11.01.2022 "The hero and the coward both feel the same thing, but the hero uses his fear, projects it onto his opponent, while the coward runs. It's the same thing, fear, but it's what you do with it that matters." Cus D'Amato ... The former trainer of Mike Tyson until his death in 1985, Cus D'Amato knew a lot about fear. Mike Tyson was the most feared man in boxing at the time of his prime. This comes as no surprise when one considers D'Amato's quote and what D'Amato possibly taught Tyson to get him ready for world domination. See more

11.01.2022 Meet James. He joined us here at champions over 5 years ago. Over that time he's taken breaks, lost focus and gone off track... but always came back to the sport of Muay Thai. In the last year he's persisted and trained harder ever than before, earning himself a win in his first amateur fight. Watch his story below

11.01.2022 CALORIE COUNTING . It's easy to get overwhelmed by tracking your nutrition, thinking that you'll never be able to eat anything yummy ever again! . If we step back and look at the bigger picture, you will see that we can still enjoy ourselves whilst losing weight! ... . Looking at the example here, someone who's maintenance calories is 2000 calories/day is trying to lose weight. They keep themselves at a 400 calories/day deficit during the week, totalling a 2000 calorie deficit by Friday! . On the weekend, they like to go out to nice cafes and restaraunts with their partner, meaning they will consume more calories on these days! . Even though they have gone OVER their maintenance calories 2 days of the week, they still manage to maintain a weekly deficit of 1600 calories. . Over time this person will still lose weight! Yes, the progress will be slower than if they ate at a deficit everyday, but where's the fun in that? See more

Once again congratulations to all our boxers, their competitors, and coaches for a great night of fights. See more

09.01.2022 "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail." . Ever have one of those days where you didn't have enough time in the morning for breakfast, didn't pack lunch so ended up buying some overpriced burger and chips from the cafe near work, got home, ate an entire packet of chips, ordered uber eats for dinner, then demolished a block of chocolate before bed? You aren't alone. . Planning you day of eating can be a really complicated and involved process, but I like to make it simple. Here...'s my 3 step method to get you started: . Write it. Before bed each night, take 5 minutes to write a note in your phone of all the meals you will eat the next day, including what foods you will consume, their quantities and at what time. . Review it. Take a minute to think about any changes that might be necessary. For example, if you have a dinner scheduled with some friends, maybe you lower the portion sizes of the rest of your meals earlier in the day to make up for this. . EAT IT. This one is pretty self-explanatory. See more

09.01.2022 4 Things to Do Instead of Comparing Yourself to Others 1. Water your own grass. When we focus on other people, we lose time that we could otherwise invest in ourselves. We don’t grow green grass by focusing on our neighbor’s garden, we do it nurturing our own. So, instead of wasting time comparing your path to someone else’s, spend it investing, creating, and caring for your own.... 2. Accept where you are. You can’t change something you don’t acknowledge. So, instead of resisting or fighting where you are, come to peace with it. Say yes to every part of your life, and from that place, make decisions that will move you in the right direction. 4. Do a social media detox. We’re constantly bombarded with people who live #blessed lives on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. What we don’t consider is that we often compare our own worst moments with someone else’s highlight. Social media can be a great source for inspiration. But, if it triggers inadequacy, self-doubt, and frustration, then choose to do a detox. Make sure you control social media and not the other way around. 7. Decide not to let fear guide your choices. The choices we make are either based on love or fear. For example, I moved to Paris for a job I was really excited about. That was based on love. Then I stayed a bit too long because I was afraid of what would happen if I quit. That was based on fear. I’ve made all my fear-based decisions out of insecurity and a feeling of scarcity. They’ve never taken me in the direction I wanted. Make sure love is the foundation for your choices. To stay on track, ask yourself this powerful question, What would love do right now?

04.01.2022 FESTIVE DRINKING Who doesn't love a drink over Christmas with family and friends? I know I do, it's one time of year to let loose a little and have fun. But all the calories in those drinks really start to add up and before you know it, all your hard work in the gym has been undone! ... So how do we reduce the impact of drinking over Christmas, so that we can still have fun without going overboard? TIP #1 - Be the designated driver! This is my go to If you drive, you can only have a few before you're cut off, simple. . TIP #2 - Plan how much you're going to drink before a family function and stick to it. Don't bring an entire carton to christmas dinner, bring a few drinks and when you're all out, that's it. . TIP #3 - Choose lower calorie drinks! A few of my favourites are Pure Blonde for beer, Gin & Tonic and Vodka & Soda. Below I have included an image which gives you some insight into the calorie differences for some popular drinks. . Last point! Remember, When you have been eating more food and drinking more alcohol over the christmas period, your body will hold a lot of extra fluid, so you will be heavier. Don't beat yourself up if you are a few kilos heavier, this is normal and things will calm down when your eating and training schedule returns to normal. My advice is to not worry about weighing yourself through this period. Enjoy it without going overboard, you will be fine!

03.01.2022 What Co-Director Pamorn Martdee loves about coaching The People - working with people is one of life’s pleasures. It brings so many different walks of life, beliefs, cultures and abilities into one place. As a coach I get to learn so much, yet always be uplifted when walking into a class of wonderful people. The Journey - Seeing people start knowing very little, and grow into resilient, courageous and confident people through the journey is so rewarding.... The Realisation - That penny drop moment when you see the glimmer in someone’s eye when they realise their own skill or nail a technique is one that is priceless. Like riding a bike, it cannot be unlearned and the individual goes from strength to strength The Camaraderie - The friends that people make along the way. Usually these are people with things in common such as hobbies and interests. Making friends at training are usually friends for life! The Empowerment - Seeing someone learn skills, build personal qualities whilst improving their strength, health and vitality is one of sheer pride and satisfaction for me as a coach. Whether it is a woman who wants to get fit or tone up, or a young man who wants to defend himself; usually the empowerment involved in the process is something special. See more

02.01.2022 2020 was a hard year for everyone. I am proud of the people of our community who took risks, without any guarantee of reward in victory... In competition, we stepped up even if it meant we weren't the favourite.... We saw so many ring debutants, fuelled by inspiration... What started as Victoria Sullivan going up a weight division vs Zoe Putorak, Jude Grant won the Novice State Boxing championship, Joe McCoy battling the best in the division Eddy D'Uva, David Truong taking on red hot Moo Doh, Johnny Callaghan locking horns with Suga Arumugam, Jayden Symmonds making it to the state championship only to fall short by judges decision in the final... Experiences of hardship always reveal true character In club, it was everyday people doing extraordinary things: Life-changing transformations, striving for success in everyday life not to mention the infinite confidence built, skill, fortitude, and resilience proven. We're so lucky to have such a vibrant, supportive, and loyal community of wonderful people who have risen to the occasion time and time again, leveling up to live their best... Proof that you are the sum of the people you surround yourself with. To each and every one of you who have been a part of Champions Gym 2020, whether it's members, staff, coaches, supporters, friends, and families - THANK YOU. Get ready for the best year yet! -Pamorn & Whitney

02.01.2022 Something we love to hammer home is the 80/20 rule! . 80% of the foods you eat should be the things that are healthiest for you, that will get you towards your health and fitness goals. . Things like vegetables, fruit, lean protein sources, good fats and complex carbs.... . The other 20% of your diet should consist of the things that you enjoy most, whatever it may be. . Of course, eating 100% 'clean' all the time would be healthier for your body and get you to your goals faster, but it's so hard to maintain that most end up feeling like a failure and giving up. . 80% diet compliance over the LONG term is so much more important than 100% compliance over the SHORT term. . Happy eating! See more

01.01.2022 BUILDING A MEAL I find that sometimes when I have forgotten to meal prep and don't have anything ready to go, it's easy to just grab the first thing you see and blow your calories for the day. . I have found that simplifying the process when you're in a rush really helps me build a quick on the go meal ... . Step 1: Protein Always build your meal around the protein source! This is the one macro that everyone finds the hardest to hit so lets start there. . Step 2: Carbs/fats Next we need to add an energy source. For most people, either is fine, just remember that fats have more calories per gram than carbohydrates, so portion size matters! . Step 3: Bulk it out with fruit and veg. Don't skip this step! Fruit and veg add so much nutritious micronutrients to our diet as we know. The other benefit is that they make the meal a lot bigger, meaning you will be more satisfied for less calories. . Give it a go! See more

01.01.2022 SUSTAINABILITY . Such a crucial step when it comes to fat loss that many miss. People seem to have an "All or nothing" approach which leads to a massively restricted lifestyle followed by an eventual binge. . This Restrict-Binge mentality is something we want to get out of if we want life long results! ... . Here's a few tips from me to get you started: Create a small calorie deficit - Here's the first step where many go wrong. Going too far below your maintenance level of calories will lead to quicker fat loss in the short term but this is not sustainable for a long period of time. The best approach is to go for a small deficit and hit this day in, day out, over time! . Get some treats in there! - Nothing is more demotivating then the thought of never being able to eat anything nice again. Plan out a few times per week when youll have some of your favourite foods, as long as you stick to your calories, you're golden! . Do some exercise - The strength coach in me wants to tell you to do lots of strength training but the truth is, if you hate it, it's probably not the best choice. Find something you LOVE and stick to it 3+ times per week. . Include all food groups - Unless you have an allergy, completely eliminating an entire food group is really hard to sustain over long periods. If it works for you, great! But it's not always the best approach. . See more
