24.01.2022 It's National Volunteer Week!! We want to give a massive THANK YOU to our wonderful Werribee flotilla volunteers! Our crew members give endlessly to keep Port Philip Bay safe, train other crew members and ensure the flotilla continues to run smoothly. Without your hard work and dedication we would not be able to provide such a professional and speedy response to emergency call outs, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For a rewarding career in volunteering come join us at https://coastguard.com.au/volunteer/

21.01.2022 Great effort by our Gippsland flotilla’s who helped evacuate holiday makers via sea off the beach at Tamboon. Very brave in eerie circumstances.

13.01.2022 The Government has delivered on its commitment to establish the Better Boating Fund and return every dollar of marine licensing and boat registration fees to improving boating safety and facilities. A Victorian first, this strategy will provide the road map for future investment and the boating community will have a chance to help us shape it. Have your say, complete survey here: ... https://getinvolved.transport.vic.gov.au/rec-boating-strate Better Boating Victoria

08.01.2022 Due to the Victorian Government announced state-wide 5-day lockdown from 11.59pm Friday the 12th until 11.59pm Wednesday the 17th of February; our unit will revert to restricted capacity meaning emergency response only. Under these restrictions, there are only 4 reasons to leave your home: Shopping for the things you need, care and caregiving, exercise and work, if it is essential.... Face masks will need to be worn indoors and outdoors whenever you leave home. Exercise is limited to a maximum of two hours per day, within 5 kilometres of your home and with members of your household or one other person. Recreational activities such as fishing and boating are not among the 4 reasons to leave home. In a marine emergency or for assistance on the water call 000 and ask for the water police in your state or territory. Follow link for more information on the restrictions in effect: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorias-restriction-levels-co

06.01.2022 Last year we saw a big increase in rock fishing drowning deaths, with 6x the number of deaths compared to the 10 year average. It’s also one of the most dangerous sports in Australia! Don’t let your fishing trip end in tragedy: Observe the conditions before heading out onto the rocks, and stay alert for changes Ask for advice from locals who know the area... Always wear a life jacket Never fish alone Inform others of your plans Wear light clothing and appropriate footwear Carry safety gear including a rope and a float Never fish in exposed areas during rough or large seas Plan an escape route in case you are washed in For ideas and info to help you stay safe this summer, visit: https://lsv.com.au/summersafety/ #PISBTW #watersafety #safersummer #rockfishing #drowningprevention

05.01.2022 Please consider the lives of all the emergency services you would put at risk by bending the rules and running in to difficulty. The government says no, Mother Nature says no, please stay at home friends

04.01.2022 Dramatic footage from our friends over in the UK risking their lives to save others. Impressive stuff
