23.01.2022 Dear Friends, The late Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks famously said about the Lubavitcher Rebbe: Where other leaders created followers, the Rebbe created leaders. This keen insight to the Rebbe’s leadership style is brought to the forefront this week, not only because of Rabbi Sacks’s recent passing, but also because of the International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries, held last week virtually instead of in person.... The Rebbe’s emissaries, shluchim around the world, represent more than just a movement. We were conferred with the awesome responsibility of serving our communities as extensions of the Rebbe himself. Wherever there is a Chabad House, anywhere in the world, the Rebbe is there too. In the opening to this week’s Torah portion, Toldot, we read about how Abraham’s son Isaac had identical features to his father, and wherever he went, people saw Abraham in him. That’s what Rabbi Sacks meant by the Rebbe creating leaders, to be extensions of himself in their own communities. It is a tremendous responsibility, and we strive every day to fulfil this mandate. Shabbat shalom! Rabbi Yanky and Rebbetzin Leah Berger We invite everyone to come back to Shule (Saturday) 7:15pm to spend the last hour of Shabbos featuring single malt whiskey from Israel. Our Guest Speaker this week is Paul Nahon. Candle lighting time - 7:23pm Service times: Friday Night Service - 6:30pm Shabbat Day Service - 9:30am Kiddush and refreshments - 12pm Shaleshudos Club - 7:15 pm Shabbat ends Nov 21 - 8:24pm Link to registering your attendance at Shule Services: https://forms.gle/2sGqoALWE5spQqkp9

23.01.2022 The month of Cheshvan began this week, and it serves as a stark contrast to the month that preceded it, Tishrei, which was full of holidays. Cheshvan, on the other hand, contains not a single Jewish holiday. In a way, this is actually by design. A month full of holidays provides lots of inspiration and opportunity to behave Jewishly. It can almost be done without giving it much thought. But when the month is bland and has no holidays, any Jewish inspiration must come from wit...hin. There are no external factors to motivate us, instead we can truly put in the effort and own our observance ourselves. Wishing you a Shabbat shalom and a truly inspiring Cheshvan! Rabbi Yanky and Rebbetzin Leah Berger Candle lighting time - 6:57pm Service times: Friday Night Service - 6:30pm Shabbat Day Service - 9:30am REGISTRATION FORM https://forms.gle/2sGqoALWE5spQqkp9 Shabbat ends - 7:55pm

23.01.2022 Dear Friends, This weekend was supposed to be the International Conference of Chabad Emissaries, known as the Kinus Hashluchim. Every year we gather in New York for four days of workshops, plenaries, and inspiration. It is the highlight of our year; an opportunity to meet old friends, share experiences, and to remind ourselves that we are part of the biggest force of positivity in the Jewish world. Unfortunately, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the kinus will not be... held in-person, and instead will be entirely virtual. While this is a far cry from the real thing, it will still serve as a reminder that Chabad around the world is here for every single Jew in all situations. This week’s Torah portion, Chayei Sarah, describes how Abraham and Sarah’s son Issac married Rebecca and started a family with her based on the values he learned from his parents. Although Sarah passed away before their marriage, Isaac and Rebbeca still lived their life as though she was very much present and guiding them through thick and thin. We will continue to do the same in our lives and within our communities, and we will surely persevere and thrive! Shabbat shalom. Rabbi Yanky and Rebbetzin Leah Berger Candle lighting time - 7:16pm Service times: Friday Night Service - 6:30pm Shabbat Day Service - 9:30am Kiddush and refreshments - 12pm Shaleshudos Club - 7:15 pm Shabbat ends Nov 14 - 8:17pm Link to registering your attendance at Shule Services: https://forms.gle/2sGqoALWE5spQqkp9

21.01.2022 LAUNCHING... HELPER 101 At times like these we need to be caring and kind to the less fortunate. The data is showing that the elderly and the more vulnerable ar...e more at risk. Therefore they will very likely be in isolation shortly to reduce their risk. Some of them may not have anyone to assist or care for them. We are looking for at least 50 people who want to volunteer in being a HELPER 101. We will match you up with a person/family depending on your availability. By assisting them with shopping, picking up medicines, errands etc. The HELPER 101 will check in with them and make them feel cared for. In addition to the practical help, there is no doubt that this will give them strength and support just by knowing that someone cares at this difficult time. Would you like to be a HELPER 101? Please call 93271644 and leave a message or email [email protected] or respond to this message (This will not necessarily include physical contact or proximity) Rabbi Yanky Berger

05.01.2022 Faith in G-d is an interesting thing. Of course, everything we do as Jews is because we believe in G-d, but having faith in a situation where logic may dictate otherwise is not always so simple. This week we start reading in the weekly Torah portion about the life of Abraham, considered the first Jew and the first person to recognize that there is one G-d. He also spent his life teaching others about G-d. Abraham was tested 10 times by G-d to see if his faith would waver, and... each time he passed with flying colours. Every time he was tested, logic dictated that he should behave otherwise. For example, we read this week about him being commanded by G-d to pick himself up and move to a foreign land. Sure, G-d promises that he will thrive and prosper there, but it was his faith that accepted the word of G-d without question. It would have been completely reasonable for him to stay put and continue living his comfortable life. But he had faith in G-d. And that faith was transmitted to his descendants, the Jewish people. We may not all be as perfect as Abraham, but each and every Jew has faith in G-dsome deeper down than others, but we all have it. Our faith often shows up at the oddest times, reminding us about who we are and what we represent. It is up to us to make the most of it. Shabbat shalom! Rabbi Yanky and Rebbetzin Leah Berger Candle lighting time - 7:03pm Service times: Friday Night Service - 6:30pm Shabbat Day Service - 9:30am REGISTRATION FORM https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSdm8jwea80YDo7Gdc/viewform Shabbat ends Oct 31 - 8:02 pm
