24.01.2022 Vale Maurie Kick 9th March 2019 We regret to advise of the death of Maurie Kick. Maurie was a Life Member of the Bowls Club. He joined the Club in 1989. He served as Management Chairperson 2000- 2003, Mens President 2009-2011, He was Club Singles Champion 4 times and Pairs Champ 5 times. Maurie was club coach for many years. Recently, his health has not allowed him to play, however he would always call in whenever there was a game on, for a coffee and a chat. He was always motivated by a love of Chadstone Bowls Club, and would always be of assistance as required. He will be sadly missed. Further details to follow as available

23.01.2022 Chadstone midweek number 1 team is sitting in second place on the ladder, only one point behind top side Elsternwick. Even better, number 2 side is on top, with a massive lead of 168, to Malvern in second on 125. Our Chadstone team in this comp have only lost 4 rinks in 11 games, an incredible score line! Well done Chadstone and keep it up for the rest of the season!!!

20.01.2022 Chaddy Eagles division 3 (now 2) and division 7 (now 6) teams both had wonderful victories today! Our top side won by 4 shots and our third side by a very satisfactory 30 shots. Both teams will now play again next weekend, all being well in these uncertain times. We also wish our two mid week pennant sides success in their finals next Tuesday, if they go ahead.

19.01.2022 Final wrap for this very successful bowls season - yesterday the two midweek teams had different outcomes. The top side was defeated by Elsternwick Park at Bentleigh, but will progress to Division 1. The second side was given a walkover by Malvern, and will be promoted to Division 4. Congratulations to all on being so competitive. The vibe around the club has been amazing. We look forward to next season, whatever it brings. Stay safe and healthy!

19.01.2022 Chadstone Eagles Division 3 side have won their final today against Murrumbeena Park, with the final score 101 to 52. Tomorrow they play at Mulgrave Country Club. Again, no supporters allowed to attend unfortunately.

19.01.2022 All three Chadstone teams won on a very cold and wintery day today. These shots are of the third side, some rugged up and others in shorts! Let’s hope summer kicks in soon.

19.01.2022 Reminder to all members that this coming weekend our Women and Mens singles championships kick off. If you missed the announcement about who you are competing with, check out the Club News section on the web-site (https://www.chadstonebowls.com.au/club-news) for links to the draw.

19.01.2022 Today we recognised two of our current members, Mary Griffin and Beryl Gillies on the great achievement of reaching 90 years of age. It was also great to see Alison McKenzie, now 92, who visited us from the coast.

17.01.2022 The season has got well underway, with teams competing in midweek, weekend and even teams competing in night bowls. To make life easier, we've updated the Club News section (https://www.chadstonebowls.com.au/club-news) section of the website to include a single page printable season schedule, as well as direct links to the Bowls Victoria web-site for the latest results and current schedule.

17.01.2022 Chadstone Bowls Club wishes to advise that regrettably it is unable to take any bookings for any functions to be held in our club rooms or on our greens until further notice. We’ll keep you posted.

17.01.2022 MAY 11th 11.30am Presentation Lunch and AGM followed by social bowls. Southern Indoor Bowls Club has called a general meeting of members in mid-April to consider and approve the Board’s recommendation that the club’s property be sold as soon as is practicable. As the settlement period for a sale is very likely to be after August 2020 in current market conditions, the 2019 and 2020 seasons are planned to proceed as normal. SIBC has been operating for 50 years, but recent large reductions in revenue and large increases in costs mean that SIBC now has a limited life. There are sufficient funds on hand to ensure that the 2019 and 2020 seasons can easily be funded. FYI - BREAST SCREEN Vic. BreastScreen Victoria (BSV) offer FREE breast screens (xrays) to women over 40. A breast screen is the best way to detect breast cancer early when it is most easily treated. Women in the City of Stonnington currently have low breast screening rates. Almost 7000 eligible women in City of Stonnington are not using our service. BSV is bringing out our mobile screening van to Prahran (Princes Gardens in between Little Chapel St and Essex St) for 3 weeks in May. BSV is partnering with local community services and groups in the area to offer resources and info sessions to increase the community’s awareness about the importance of breast screening.

16.01.2022 Glorious weather this weekend allowed us to get out and have a our first round of practice matches on Saturday afternoon as a club. After the practice matches, we also kicked off our first social bowls events with the drawing of positions for the Jim Egan bumper board, and on Sunday we've already had a couple of matches played. Check out the Club News page (https://www.chadstonebowls.com.au/club-news) for a "live" scoreboard that will be updated as players play their rounds, ...and a reminder to e-mail Ray with your scores to we can keep the scoreboard relatively "live". The Club News page will also be updated as other events get confirmed.

16.01.2022 We are saddened to hear that Les McIntyre passed away this morning. Les was a member of Chadstone Bowls Club since 1977 and was always amiable, friendly and welcoming. There will be a private service for him under current circumstances. RIP Les, you will be missed around the club rooms and on the green.

16.01.2022 We've been busily working in the background during lockdown, but we're very happy to say things are LOOKING UP! Members are able to return for practice, and it looks like competitions will be starting during November! We've relaunched the website (www.chadstonebowls.com.au) so please take a look. We've tried to make things easier to use, including: * ability for larger groups (6+ people) to book into Barefoot bowls * ability for folks to apply for membership... * a Club News section which we will be looking to update for members to see and hear about the latest * updated contact details including a new e-mail address ([email protected]), plus we're encouraging people to contact us via Facebook messenger rather than phone given we don't have members manning the phones! We've also updated our details on this page including when the bar will be open. NOTE: we have also implemented COVID-safe practices including asking people to check-in using QR codes. There are signs up at the club outlining this. As always, feedback is welcomed.

14.01.2022 Finals day today for our division 3 side and division 7 side. Because of corona virus, no spectators are allowed, but we wish them well and hope they have winning rinks today!

13.01.2022 Three of our happy MVPS dads, from left to right, Rich Davey, Stuart Amis and Scott Williams. They played last Saturday in a practice pennant game, in which their team came away winners at home. Welcome to Chadstone Bowls Club as new pennant team members.

13.01.2022 Everyone welcome!

13.01.2022 We celebrated in a quirky style at our Christmas get together last night. Several brave souls entertained us with poetry, illusionist tricks, their reading list and finally an ABBA themed big finale! Dan and his helpers produced a magnificent meal.

12.01.2022 Hello to all members, both Pennant and social, and also friends of Chadstone Bowls Club. Here is an update on how things stand at our Club during these unusual times. Of course we are in lockdown, but that won’t last forever and we are keeping things ticking over in the meantime. The Supreme Court case covering the covenants in Percy Treyvaud Park has been deferred to a date yet to be decided.... Council has previously stated no works will start until this matter is resolved. We have a guarantee that we will stay on site until 30 September - it’s looking likely that this will be extended. Council elections are scheduled for 24 October. The Annual General Meeting is still scheduled for July. You will be advised of the date and how we will be able to hold this meeting in due course. Divisional finals are still to be completed for three of our teams, after successful sectional finals for our Division 3 and 7 weekend pennant teams and our mid-week pennant Division 5 team. In any case, all these teams will go up a Division next season. We hope that you are fit and well, and looking forward to getting back to the clubrooms and out on the greens before too much longer. Stay safe in the meantime!

12.01.2022 It is with much sadness that the Chadstone Bowls Club wishes to inform you of the passing of our long standing club member Ronald (Ron) McBride, 8.15pm Satuday the 7th September. As you would know, bowling was a huge part of Ron's life. Along with Lola and Paul, Ron was always there for the club both as a player and active club member whenever there was a need. He will be greatly missed as a mentor and an inspiration for the newer members of our club. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Lola, Paul and their family at this time. Arrangements are yet to be made for any celebrations of Ron's life.

11.01.2022 With only a couple of games until the end of the Pennant season, our Chadstone teams have had some excellent results so far. Our top side on Saturday is only 1 point behind Glen Eira McKinnon and will be playing in finals. The second side is in 5th position, but won’t make finals, while the third side has a chance of making finals, being in 6th position, 24 points behind 4th with two games yet to play. Our midweek teams have both had a fantastic season, with the top side in 2nd place, only 9 points behind Elsternwick Club and will make finals. The second side has a massive 63 point margin over their rivals, and have only lost 5 rinks during the entire season. They are looking pretty invincible, without wanting to jinx them! We wish all our teams well for the next few weeks!

11.01.2022 Great result yesterday for our third side. The team won by 5 shots yesterday, 80 to 75, defeating North Balwyn/Greythorn. They played away on synthetic. They will now be promoted to Division 6. Well done!!! Today our top side and third side play another final, at Mulgrave Country Club and Doncaster respectively - good bowling to all rinks!

11.01.2022 Our third side had to win today, and they needed to win three rinks. They did this in fine style! On to the finals. Our top side has also reached the finals - good bowling to both teams.

10.01.2022 Yesterday we played round 10 of the Saturday pennant season, and our top side and third side had wins. Second side put in a valiant effort, but went down to Moorabbin. We had a bbq after the game and shared some Christmas cheer together.

10.01.2022 On Saturday 11th May we held the annual Presentation Day to celebrate our club champions. This was followed by a delicious lunch supplied by the club to thank our supporters for the 2018-19 season. Our Annual General Meeting then took place and a new Committee of Management was voted in. Finally, some of us braved the cool conditions and played a game of two bowl triples. Our Championship report https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ed67efjhzmbipy/cbcchamps1819.pdf

05.01.2022 This afternoon Alan Jolly, President, received an Email from James Rouse, Manager Leisure and Wellbeing | Community and Culture, City of Stonnington that contained the following words: "I am confirming that the date of relocation of the Chadstone Bowls Club will be from 31 March 2020". This is fantastic news as it means that Chadstone will get the full pennant season at home, and can now plan our functions and tournament schedules with certainty.... That is all for now, but it's plenty. Cheers Alan See more

05.01.2022 Chadstone Bowls Club - Saturday Division 4 Champions of Melbourne Metro Go CHADDY! Clearly this team is a great combination and has the ability to march up through the divisions over the next few years. After very difficult circumstances with the club looking at being thrown out by the Stonnington council, the Chadstone number One side showed their mettle, having a wonderful season winning all but two of the 18 games in the regular season. The critical semi-final win... on Saturday 9th against Ashburton gave the team the much valued promotion to division 3. With victories against Vermont South, Caulfield Park Alma and Aberfeldie leading to the very close tussle in the Grand Final against Fairfield at Doncaster Bowls Club. Final score Chadstone 78 to 72, making Chadstone the Metropolitan Champions. Saturday Chadstone 2 Division 5 side bowed out in the first semi-final after having to travel into City of Melbourne, whilst Chadstone 3 battled on determinedly all season. Midweek Tuesday Pennant Chadstone fielded 2 sides, both finishing 6th. 05.01.2022 A beautiful sunny day for our Australia Day 4’s tournament, where we welcomed 22 teams from as far apart as Moonee Valley, Port Melbourne and Clayton, Vermont South and Parkdale. Dan/Bones had the spitroast going and the crew in the kitchen and behind the bar kept the food and drinks up to the bowlers. Anthony Flapper’s four from Essendon came out winners, with runners up led by Michael Symonds from Elwood. A great day was had by all. We are very grateful to our major sponsor Ryman Healthcare and Jenny Roberts for her attendance.

03.01.2022 Last Tuesday we had 24 teams competing for our annual Australia Day tournament. While the weather wasn't the best, the teams all competed in good spirits. After playing 3 rounds in round robin format, we had a final 4 play in semi-finals. The eventual winners were a combination of folks from Karingal Bowls club and Mornington Bowling Club. A massive thanks to all of those who volunteered on the day to assist with catering, serving, and logistics of the whole event. Without ou...r wonderful members, these days do not happen. Also thanks to Chadstone Kia for supporting the day. They had a number of their vehicles on display, including the Kia Picanto S they are supporting us with via our raffle (www.rafflelink.com.au/chadstonebowls). Tickets are selling fast, so get in quick!

02.01.2022 Perfect weather yesterday at our beautiful bowls club, where our first and second sides both had wins. Our top side is well clear on top of the division 3 ladder and our second side is a close second in division 5. There was a fair bit of Movember growth in evidence too!

01.01.2022 Further to earlier information The funeral will be Friday 2pm White Lady Funerals 339 Warrigal Rd Burwood followed by refreshments at 3.30pm at the Chadstone Bowls Club
