20.01.2022 Meeting Minutes #973! ---------------------- Last night was Chadstone Oaks Toastmasters 973rd Meeting. The theme of the meeting was "LIFE". We had quite a few guests (Frank, Manpreet, Chamara, Bob, Ivy). We welcomed our newest member Senan P. to our family.... Word of the day was Conjure meaning to spin up something out of imagination. Perfectly elaborated by our Grammarian Anthony. Jane our Toastmaster started off with a unique round robin. This was more of a mini table topic session but with a difference. She asked two questions with the speaker picking any: 1. What inanimate object would you like to come to life or 2. What is your favourite Spring Cleaning spot. Answers were really varied and hilarious from inanimate objects like shadows, trees, Eiffel Tower to Spring Cleaning spots like your favourite garage. Table Topics Master covered table topics related to a variety of topics including Who packs your parachute (Niru), Favorite Exercise(Preeti), Message in your Epitaph(Senan), Your Message (Anthony), Teddy (Spring or the Colour Red). Table Topics Evaluators gave deep meaningful insights to TT Speakers. Post break there were 3 Prepared Speeches 1. Whats your leadership Style by Mike O'Keefe Mike mentioned his insights on various leadership style and mentioned that Democratic Leadership Style suits his personality. Mike drove the message home when he mentioned that the best leader is the leader who doesn't make his absence felt. 2. Icebreaker by Teddy Tan Passionate speech by Teddy. Teddy mentioned his thoughtful speech about his journey in losing 40 Kilos and that sugar is mankind's worst enemy. All suited with props Teddy stole the show with his weighted jacket. Great Icebreaker Ted. 3. Icebreaker by Anthony Anthony our new member spoke about what's in a name. He spoke passionately about his family origins, his name and his loving memories of his childhood. His key message was "It takes a village to build a man" and through his stories he drove the point home. He finally challenged us gently with the question about how often do we judge a book by it's cover. Great going Anthony. Evaluations were swift by Preeti, Ansuman and Niru. Senan mentioned about timing and spoke with exceptions. Senan's first time as a timer, a job very well done. Tony was the Grunt master and mentioned that the favourite filler word is "SO". Niru wrapped up the reports with his Hark Master reports. Ziting finally gave a thorough general evaluation. Overall a meeting well done. Jane did a tremendous job in EmCeeing the event. Best Speaker: Teddy Tan Best TT Speaker: Anthony Best Evaluator: Ansuman Dont forget to log in on Easy-Speak to indicate your attendance for the next meeting!

16.01.2022 Improv Themed meeting tomorrow.

16.01.2022 Meeting Summary - Eye of the Tiger: Great start with our President Hitesh opening a brand new meeting. Hitesh was quick in getting the agenda in order. Hitesh welcomed members and guests with his usually cool smile. Claire shined being the Toastmaster of the evening. She picked the gig as a duck takes to water. She was brilliant, opened up with a short sharp intro on the theme "The Eye of the Tiger" and what it means to her. She gave her analogy of the tiger waiting on the p...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Tremendous high energy meeting today. A perfect start to our New Year.

11.01.2022 Meeting minutes #974! What a great meeting - thanks to all our members, guests (we welcomed back Manpreet and Chamara and greeted Michelle and Sumit) and especially to Ansuman, Hitesh and Niru for organising such a fresh and innovative meeting. The theme of the night was 'Improv' with a very apt word of the day 'ad-lib' meaning to say something which has not been planned or written beforehand.... Ansuman started off our theme with an improv round-robin of sorts, with a continuous story using the words 'yes, but' for one round and then 'yes, and' for the second round. This exercise really highlighted that using the word 'and' led to a much more collaborative story that managed to stay on topic (awimbawe, awimbawe!) than using the word 'but'. Table topics were 'twisted' with an emotive four-square marked on the stage. TT presenters; Hitesh, Ziting, Niru, Preeti, Sennan and Ansuman, did a remarkable job not only ad-libbing on miscellaneous items (as selected by Hitesh) but also moving through the emotions (joy, anger, disgust and sorrow) as gonged by Ansuman. Challenging and hilarious - congrats Niru for taking the prize. After the break we had the pleasure of listening to four prepared speeches. Ziting gave a well prepared and passionate speech about Melinda Gates which included a personal story about standing up for what you believe in. Preeti delivered another personal and touching story about walking on fire (she really walked over the hot coals! I saw the photo) with 'How has Firewalking changed my life'. Next up we had Sennan with his Ice-breaker 'The Way', a very eloquent speech on his St. Francis trek, peppered with humourous stories. And lastly Felicity delivered an excellent speech 'Time' on her recent European trip, slowing down and taking time. Speeches were all to an exceptionally high standard, and evaluations were also on point with Julian and Teddy providing some great suggestions for our twisted TT, and myself, Hitesh, Preeti and Niru providing evaluations for the prepared speeches. Special congrats to Preeti (who also had a number of roles!) and Sennan who tied for best speaker delivering their Icebreakers. Thanks to Mike who, as always, had a very considered general evaluation, with some good suggestions on how we could tweek twisted TT next time. And thanks to everyone who had support roles! Have a great few weeks everyone.
