19.01.2022 It's an honour and a privilege to be invited to be the conference interpreter for a community event on crime prevention, on Sat the 13th of July 2019, from 10am to 12pm at MacGregor State School. The event was proudly hosted and organised by Peter Russo MP, State Member for Toohey. The event started with a presentation by a representative from the Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council (QSAC). Subsequently, there was a panel discussion consisting of four academic experts wh...o were asked a series of questions focused on community safety, youth crime and crime prevention by the moderator Magistrate Andrew. The event finished with an interactive Q&A session whereby the audience posed questions to the panelists. It's a very successful panel discussion on crime prevention, which I found engaging and interactive. Good job to Peter Russo MP and his team. Many thanks to everyone who made this event a great success. 713.:

10.01.2022 Last year's The Asian Professionals networking event at Bennett & Philp was a great success. Unfortunately all planned events have been cancelled or postponed due to Covid19, it is hoped that we can get back to normal soon. Meanwhile, everyone please stay safe and healthy.

08.01.2022 https://www.bennettphilp.com.au//new-enduring-power-of-att "Changes to Queensland’s guardianship laws take effect on 30 November 2020. As part of those changes, the Government has introduced new Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) and Advance Health Directive forms for use from that date onwards. New, quite detailed, explanatory guides for EPAs and Advance Health Directives have also been introduced. We strongly recommended that you read these guides carefully before making or replacing an EPA or Advance Health Directive."

04.01.2022 Last Thursday, the Queensland Parliament made the "Justice Legislation (COVID-19 Emergency ResponseWills and Enduring Documents) Regulation 2020" under the "COVID-19 Emergency Response Act 2020" which was passed more than three weeks ago. A discussion of some of the implications of the Act on will-making process in Queensland can be found here: https://lnkd.in/g_DWX8F In summary, the new Regulation enables Queenslanders to sign their Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney ele...ctronically, and those documents can be witnessed using audio visual technology. The Regulation defines "audio visual link" as "facilities that enable reasonably contemporaneous and continuous audio and visual communication between persons at different places and includes videoconferencing." I assume this includes the popular social networking and video conferencing platforms such as Facebook, Whats App, WeChat, Skype and Zoom. However, we should be mindful of the specific requirements stipulated under the Regulation before making arrangements to execute their Wills and Powers of Attorney. If possible, ‘Corona Wills’ should be avoided to prevent any difficulties in proving and enforcing them in the future.
