23.01.2022 Welcome and thanks for visiting to our brand new Facebook page for Chained to the Wheel Garden & Gifts! Our names are Michelle and Brian and we purchased the Blue Hibiscus Garden Centre from the previous lovely owner Helen and from what we understand the business has been operating since 1962 on Bribie Island Road where the new Ningi Medical Centre now resides and moved to the current location at 7 Regina Ave, Ningi. We decided to change the businesses name from Blue Hibiscus... Garden Centre to Chained to the Wheel Garden and Gifts to give the business a boost and revamp to coincide with our vision of truly interesting venue to experience. So we should start by explaining how we came up with Chained to the Wheel as the name, or should I say how Michelle came up with the name! Well many many long years ago BC (Before Clayton which then morphed into Before Children as we laughingly joke about ) I was a practicing production Potter in Mackay and found myself doing my day job (apparently real job) and potting in the evenings and the weekends and at the time the Black Sorrows released the song Chained to the Wheel ..so Michelle cleverly used to refer to this every time she wanted to do something different on the weekends when I was chained to the wheel. Now 20 years later she has remembered (steel trap for a memory) and after me suggesting 30 plus potential names ..boom! ...Chained to the Wheel was reborn. So I should get to our Vision which is not only providing a variety of indoor and outdoor plants, quality giftware including handmade giftware to suit a range of interests and range of produce/pet foods but also when you visit the store it becomes an experience and a pleasure. As a work in progress we will be setting up a pottery studio in the store that you will be able to experience with throwing demonstrations, raku firings where glowing hot pots are pulled from a kiln and thrown into a bin full of leaves to create a myriad of coloured works that you will instantly see, to grand openings of our large gas fired kiln. We will also shoot out this events on social media platforms to advise if you are interested popping in to share the experience. We will also refit the nursery to include shaded areas for displays such as an orchid house, fairy garden (yes Bethany) and seated areas where you will be able to absorb the relaxing ambience of nature which will add to a pleasant and enjoyable experience when visiting. One of our must do goals is re-establishing the Café to serve barista coffee and a variety of decadent cakes to be enjoyed in a relaxing garden setting surrounded by the nurturing sound water flowing through water features and ponds riddled with brightly coloured goldfish and brazen water dragons! We look forward to meeting you all and hope you join us on our continually evolving journey to provide a stimulating and enjoyable experience for all ages. See more
