23.01.2022 Help spread the word ... Open Week is coming soon!

22.01.2022 Kinder students have been learning about feelings ... that we are all different but there is a place for everyone in God's world. One boy made these beautiful little men: Mr Sad, Mr Happy and Mr Grumpy. Can you tell which one is which?

19.01.2022 It was Silly Sock Day in Junior School today! There were spotty socks, stripey socks, fluffy socks, socks with faces on them, socks that jingle, homemade socks,... animal socks ... and the list goes on! As well as wearing silly socks and having fun, students brought along a gold coin to go towards supporting the Victorian Cancer Council.

19.01.2022 Just in case you're still following this page and not the Chairo Drouin page .... Colin is coming to Chairo! Tickets are currently on sale for two Colin Buchanan concerts in The Balfour (our new theatre) at the Drouin Campus on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 June. If you're keen, get your tickets soon ... and help us spread the news by perhaps sharing this post! https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=503013&

18.01.2022 It was an enjoyable and action-packed day last week as Junior School students participated in Friday Fun with Friends. Running races, gumboot throwing, three-legged races, and water games were just some of the exciting events of the day.

15.01.2022 This week is Open Week at our Drouin, Drouin East and Pakenham campuses. We'd love to show some families around each day, including Saturday, between 10.00 and 2.00 pm.

15.01.2022 Students in Years 1 to 12, plus staff and a good number of family members, gathered in Tyson Hall yesterday for a start-of-year worship service. Our talented mu...sic team led the singing, Middle School and Senior School captains read Bible verses and led everyone in prayer, Medon Loupis shared a message and ... as usual ... the Junior School item was a big hit! 14.01.2022 Chairo parents ... are you receiving more Linc notifications than you want or need via email and/or the Chairo App? Did you know that you can update your notification settings for Linc? For instructions, head to: linc.chairo.vic.edu.au/news/item/707

13.01.2022 We are thankful that bushfire risk warnings have generally been downgraded in our region. However, there are certainly school families who have evacuated, lost ...property and been affected in other ways. As of 2.30 pm on Monday, our plans for Tuesday are to continue with exactly the same status as today. The following will be CLOSED: DROUIN EAST - Kindergarten and Junior School DROUIN - Middle School and Senior School (Note: Senior School parent/teacher Interviews will be rescheduled) PAKENHAM - Kindergarten only These decisions have been made in consultation with Emergency Services and the Department of Education and Training, and are consistent with local schools in the respective areas. Significant factors in the advice we have received are the disruption to transport routes and air quality concerns. As we hear more of the stories and needs of affected members of our community, we can start to respond and care for those who need assistance. Members of the school community are asked to keep checking emails and/or news feeds via Linc and Facebook for the latest information from Chairo. The situation remains changeable and we appreciate the flexibility and grace shown by everyone in these circumstances. Judy Linossier Principal (Drouin)

12.01.2022 We are thinking of and praying for all of our Chairo families and members of the wider community who are affected by the bush fires this weekend. There will be numerous bus changes for students travelling to school tomorrow. Below is the information to hand this morning. We will provide updates regarding further buses as information comes through throughout the day. The Drouin bus network - Tonimbuk, Tynong North and Labertouche bus routes - will be affected with the followin...g changes; - Tonimbuk run will start from Bunyip - Labertouche run will start from Robin Hood (Drouin West) - Tynong North run will start from Hague Court - please refer to the DSC website https://www.drouinsc.vic.edu.au/?page=transport for route information Updates about other bus routes will be issued later this afternoon on Facebook and Linc News. 10.01.2022 We're excited to share this new video about our Drouin and Drouin East campuses. Enjoy watching and listening ... and then perhaps share so others can see it, too! We'll be posting videos about our other campuses over the next week or two, so keep an eye out for them also.

07.01.2022 To help with the changeover from summer to winter uniform, the Drouin Campus uniform shop will be open for additional days and hours during and following the upcoming school holidays. See details below. There will be a three-week period at the start of Term 2 when students can wear either summer or winter uniform depending on the weather conditions.

06.01.2022 BUSHFIRE INFORMATION - DROUIN/DROUIN EAST CAMPUSES (1PM SUNDAY UPDATE) CAMPUSES PLANNED TO BE OPEN, YEAR 8 COOLAMATONG CAMP RUNNING With fires in the region, th...ere is much concern around our community about school programs this week. This communication is to provide an update on the current status. However, we ask all community members to remain flexible as the situation develops. At this stage we are expecting the Drouin and Drouin East campuses to remain OPEN on Monday. According to Chairo's Bushfire Plan, campuses remain open at the current level of warning issued by VicEmergency and we continue to monitor the advice from Emergency Services. However, the situation is changeable, and we ask people to keep checking emails, Facebook and Linc News. We recognise that many people may have their transport route to school affected by fires or road closures, and we urge all families to follow the advice given regarding their local area. Do not travel through an unsafe area to get to school. If students cannot attend, they can communicate with teachers via email or Linc if needed. We also note that smoke-laden air can present a health problem for some, so if you are asthmatic or have other health concerns, please take extra precautions. We have been in touch with Camp Coolamatong today and the camp will go ahead as planned on Monday. For students unable to make it to school on Monday, we will look at making alternate arrangements for them to attend part of the camp. If members of our school have practical needs due to being impacted by fires, relief centres are available at Bellbird Park, 270 Settlement Road Drouin and also at the Pakenham Hall, corner of John St and Henry St, Pakenham. We have a number of families directly affected by the fires, and we ask you to uphold them in prayer and offer practical support for those in need as you are able.

05.01.2022 Last Friday, students from both Drouin East Prep classes came to school dressed as their favourite nursery rhyme character. Everyone was very excited to see all... the creative costumes, and we were so proud of the Preps as they very bravely recited a whole nursery rhyme to the class and their parents. This was a fun way to finish our unit on nursery rhymes. See more

04.01.2022 We are pleased to be able to advise that all Chairo campuses will be OPEN and all programs operating on Wednesday 6 March. The decision to re-open the Drouin and Drouin East campuses, and Kinder at Pakenham, is consistent with a Department of Education decision to open government schools and kindergartens in the Drouin and Nar Nar Goon areas tomorrow. Some bus routes to the Drouin campuses will be impacted and we will provide further information in subsequent communications. ...We also realise that individual families may also be affected by road closures in their areas. All previous advice still applies regarding families being free to make individual decisions about whether or not to send their children to school or not. Teachers will also be accommodating where students do not have access to school uniform and text books due to family situations. Please continue to check emails, texts, Facebook and Linc News for further information.

02.01.2022 CAMPUS CLOSURES ON MONDAY 4 MARCH Based on advice from the Victorian Department of Education and Training and the continuing uncertainty about fire management, Chairo has decided to CLOSE the following tomorrow: Drouin East Campus - Kinder and Junior School Drouin Campus - Middle School & Senior School Pakenham Campus - Kinder only... (Parents/guardians with children in Prep to Year 12 at the Pakenham Campus are encouraged to make their own decisions (in the best interests of their children and based on their individual circumstances) whether or not to send their children to school on Monday.) This decision to close the Drouin campuses and Kinder at Pakenham is consistent with the decisions made by other schools in the area due to continuing uncertainty about fire conditions, and air quality issues, etc. Buses will not be running to the Drouin and Drouin East campuses. We acknowledge that this causes disruption to many families, but safety of children is our priority in the current circumstances. Pakenham families are advised to keep monitoring for alerts and updates regarding a potential closure of the Pakenham campus. Please continue to pray for those affected. See more

01.01.2022 Further to the earlier announcement that all Chairo campuses will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, we have now been advised that it is anticipated that all bus routes applying to Chairo families will be operating as normal.

01.01.2022 Open Week is a great opportunity for interested families to drop in for a tour and find out more about what Chairo has to offer. Help spread the word by sharing this post!
