05.01.2022 Coralie gives me Gentle exercise Chair Yoga I must say many thanks to my friend Vicki for introducing me to Gentle Exercise classes about 2 years ago. I was in a very fragile state, with lots of personal issues. Vicki invited me along with the hope that Gentle Exercises would relieve some of my tension. Here I am 2 years later, thoroughly enjoying these classes. Most of my tension has disappeared. The bonus is that my body is now much better and in tune ...my limbs are more agile I can move around with lots more confidence knowing that old age is still a long way away for me. And I have learnt how to deal with life pressures in much better ways. Thank you, Vicki from your friend, Coralie Sign up for my six-week series starting 17/4- https://www.facebook.com/events/2594640247474146/

03.01.2022 Laugh till you pee Yoga asana and mindful pranayama will help to improve function in the tissues, muscles, and organs of our lower abdominal core and pelvic floor. Most of my yoga students have issues with a weak core and have lost control of their pelvic floor. This region is the second sacral chakra, Swadhisthana", which translates to "your own place". This chakra is our self-love and creativity, and it allows us to enjoy a sensuous and expressive life. Swadhisthana is loca...ted below the navel; it is represented by the colour orange, and it functions to maintain the organs of the urogenital system. When it is in balance we feel creative, uplifted. I think of it as our mojo that inner fire, our passion for living, confidence and self-love. But when it is out of balance or blocked it can lead to addiction, anxiety and depression. Urinary incontinence, the unintentional leakage of urine is situated in the region of the second chakra. The condition affects 160 million women across the world. Many of my senior students complain of urinary incontinence, and cannot hold back a wee. Many of us wake up throughout the night to pee and leak when we laugh, cough or sneeze. There are many forms of urinary incontinence and it is very distressing for those of us who seek out the ladies' room every time we leave the house. After I had my kids the seemingly only exercise recommended to strengthen the pelvic floor was a Kegel. The instructions to squeeze, lift up to the first floor, moving up to the second floor and so on still lives on today. But I am recommending we need to do more to bring blood, circulation, and hydration to the whole region of the core and pelvic floor and yoga will help. Yoga asana such as bridge, badaconasana, cat/cow with breath that includes exhaling completely will energize the entire core, the back, front and side body, as well as activating the inner and outer thigh to infuse the fibers of the sacral area with blood, breath and mindful attention. Pranayama can also help. I suggest finding a qualified yoga instructor to assist you to experience the ancient pranayama practice of Uddiyana Kryia in yoga. The breath and practice is very similar to modern day hypopressive exercise . Unblocking Swadhisthana through these moves can help us better control urinary incontinence and live the confident life we were mean to express in the world. We work with core and pelvic floor including pranayama in my Chair Yoga Dance sessions, so please join and rediscover our Mojo. Next classes start 9:am on Tuesday, 17 March at Sandy Cuneo Studio in Manly. Bookings are essential.
