17.01.2022 JAZ BREAKFAST REVIEW - THE AUCTION ROOMS: The expression of never judging a book by its cover has a different meaning at this joint. The PVC lighting and comfortable decor provides a spacious feel and the arty types fill the air with their warped sense of reality - its great! But that's where it stops. We have been here many times and it kills us to say that, perhaps the auction rooms has gone under the hammer. Scrambled eggs like that from a food court and muesli inspired by licorice. Shit food, no favour, no substance and a completely underwhelming menu. Perhaps this place has let arrogance get to its head, assuming people will return regardless of the quality. Next time your in North Melbourne, don't come to the highly recommended auction rooms, try somewhere different. 2 cheese boards.

07.01.2022 JAZ BREAKFAST REVIEW - POPE JOAN: Behind the roller doors and past the old hosiery factories of Nicholson street this typical Melbourne gem (in the middle of nowhere) is a must visit on a weekend. Great coffee, attentive service and a perfect menu mixed with the good old bacon and eggs and the things you have to google. I had the salmon scrambled eggs and Az had the baked eggs in a tomato sauce. Normal comment was that the food was delicious and with excellent serves! Wanky comment would be that the tomato sauce needed acidity to cut through a somewhat bland tomato sauce! We will be back here to try the spanner crab...overall 4 cheese boards.
