The perfect storm of the worst drought in 800 years, and the devastating effects of African Swine Fever (ASF) worldwide have caused local meat prices to skyrocket over the last 12 months. . With recent concerns of ASF hitting Australian shores in the near future, and with no end to the drought in sight, forecasts suggest there will be l...ittle to no meat available to players outside of the supermarkets over the next 12-18 months. This is forcing closures across our industry. . After being in business for over 35 years, our manufacturing partner has made the difficult decision to shut their doors. We have been with them since day one, and they took a chance on us when no one else would. We are going to miss working with them as they have become like family to us. . With their closure and the combination of drought and ASF, Ruby and I have made the call to cease taking orders until conditions improve in the local market. We have always been committed to using 100% Australian beef and pork, and we won’t compromise on this pledge to support Australian farmers. . Our distributor, PFD Food Service, have been a real shelter in the storm through all this. The whole team over there have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us out, and their management team has been massively supportive. . Above all else, we want to thank you, our customers, for supporting our little family business. We have delighted in making our smallgoods for you over the last five years. Some of you have been with us since Eli was smoking pastrami and andouille in our back garden, and so many of you have become dear friends. .
