25.01.2022 http:// LEGEND + CHALMERS We couldn’t be more excited about being part of this amazing new collection of Aussie wines Jon and Jane are importing to the USA. Repost @auswinelegends with @get_repost ... CHALMERS Oh, how much do we love the Chalmers family! @chalmerswine is truly a family operation: Bruce and Jenni began growing and importing grapes in the 1980s. Today, daughters Kim and Tennille run the show, which now includes vineyards in Murray Darling and Heathcote, as well as an expansive nursery that has imported over 70 varieties and clones over the years, many of them Italian. We’ve consistently been impressed by the dedication of the Chalmers family to the legacy of Italian grapes in Australia, and their application of this drive in their own wines. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say that few better values exist in Australia than the wines of Chalmers. These wines are staples in Australia, and we think they should be in the US too! 23.01.2022 http:// BUSH VINE NEGROAMARO This photo was captured back in February a couple of weeks before harvest. We love how this image perfectly captures the red sandy soil, the natural warmth of the site, the iconic blue sky of our region and the ‘alberello’ (little tree) style of the pruning of this bush vine block. This dry grown vineyard at our Merbein site produces just 4 tons per hectare (very low for the Murray Darling region) of incredibly fruit driven, vibrant, detailed and co...mplex Negroamaro. We’ve bottled just a very small amount of the 2019 as a Chalmers Project Bush Vine Negroamaro, now available on our web shop. Link in comments below. See more

22.01.2022 http:// INVENTORS This cheeky fellow is Doug Chalmers, Bruce’s brother. Ever since they can remember they’ve cooked up inventions to create. Doug is a master engineer and Bruce is a dreamer. Together, since they were boys growing up on a remote wheat and sheep farm, they’ve built more agricultural wonder tools than you can poke a stick at. This is the latest invention in its infant stages in the workshop. An over-row nursery trimmer that will eventually have a laser eye and GPS technology (who knows? One day in the pipe-dream 100% solar power and AI) to help keep our nursery neat and tidy through the growing season #foreveryoung #brothers #farmkids #inventors #agtech
22.01.2022 http:// EVERYONE LOVES AN UPGRADE This year the #v21 team is bigger than ever and we are set to have the largest year yet in our #Merbein winery thanks to a recent winery upgrade made possible by significant support from Regional Development Victoria and the Victorian Government through the Wine Growth Fund. In 2020 we extended our winery shed and added a series of flexible temperature controlled spaces for fermentation, cellaring and storage as well as a swish new office and lab ...and various system improvements like plenty of Solar PV and water efficiency measures. We think all this will allow us to make the best wine possible from our estate grown grapes and do the #murraydarling (and #heathcote) proud. Thanks to the army of awesome local service providers who made it all happen. Bring on #v21 in our fancy new winery! #sustainability #upgrade #WGF3 #RDV #localindustry #victorianwine #industrysupport #regionalvictoria #everyonelovesanupgrade See more
22.01.2022 http:// VINE GROWTH OF A MODERN FARM FAMILY Thanks @milduraweekly & Grant Maynard for the feature article in the Ag Life section of this week’s paper! Giving the Chalmers story some airtime and plugging the largely unknown premium, small scale wine production happening out at Merbein. Not bad for a region known really only for large scale commercial wine production. We believe both ends (and everything in between) of the wine industry/spectrum have a place here! #chalmers #wine merbein #vineyard #nursery

20.01.2022 http:// 2021 VINTAGE Is just around the corner, conditions have been amazing, good rain and a mild spring. We’ve just had our first vineyard visit for 2021 vintage with the super lovely and passionate Kevin & Kathleen of @quealywines checking on a bunch of varieties for their upcoming fields blends. The youngest of the Chalmers crew (and one of the most excited about grapes!) Spencer, was on location to check in on this years crop too - pyjamas, boots and all. #chalmers #v21 #merbein
19.01.2022 http:// VINTAGE HAS BEGUN Picked the first small parcel of grapes at #merbein today so our winemaker @bartvanolphen is busy waxing the 40L basket press with pure local beeswax ready to press the hand picked Pinot Grigio and get the first little ferment of the season going #smallbatch #local #handmade #v21

16.01.2022 http:// THE WINE TEAM The power of teamwork. While Bart is our official winemaker, it’s the combination of diverse input from all three of us that coaxes out the wine’s personality in the end. @tennillechalmers, with her hospo background, is always thinking about what the people want. @kimchalmers brings her composers tendency to test the limits and be creative. @bartvanolphen always thinks about practicality, bringing technical expertise and years of experience. We think it’s a winning combination, we are super proud of the latest wines we are making in our Merbein winery. Most importantly they are beautiful and worthy expressions of the stunning estate grapes we get to work with grown by Troy in #heathcote and Bruce and Dwayne in #Merbein #familybusiness #21STCV #teamwork #ittakesallsorts #balance #victorianwine

14.01.2022 http:// STEFANO’S CAFE Friday appreciation shout out to our faves @stefanos_cafe for their love and constant support of our wines.... Covid or not, 2019 Chalmers Vermentino is clearly going down a treat & flying off the shelves with the cafe being our biggest customer of this wine for 2020 by far! Thanks team We love what you do #mildura #stefanoscafe #vermentino #chalmers #wine #love #friday #shoutout
13.01.2022 http:// ROCKS We love a bit of geology. A little while back we had a geological report done of our Colbinabbin vineyard outlining the complex array of rocks we have on site and the formation history of the soil. It’s fascinating. Three faultlines, a couple of hundred million years, a sea floor, a series of volcanic eruptions, a continental shift or two - e voila! Magic happened. What is commonly referred to as #Heathcote’s ‘Cambrian’ soil has a very long and interesting story. We believe these rocks are a big part of what makes the wines grown on this site so special. #basalt #chert #quartz #shale #jaspilite #hematite #goethite #ironoxide #jarosite #colluvium
12.01.2022 http:// WHAT A VIEW At Chalmers Heathcote Vineyard Troy has been busy with extra, early spring attention in the vineyard. Under vine mulch was applied last week ready to combat weed growth, assist in maintaining good water retention through our hot, dry summers, and to give back some goodness to the soil as it breaks down over the growing season. Sounds good doesn’t it?! It is! Soil health is so important for growing good grapes and making great wine. 10.01.2022 THE CHALMERS GIRLS have always loved entertaining... although these days it’s more likely to be dinner parties than dolly parties. We’re looking forward to the time in Victoria that socialising in groups is a thing again! Thinking of our Melbourne people and wishing you a speedy recovery to get to the end of this latest lockdown. Be good, be safe, please do the right thing and we will see you on the other side!
10.01.2022 http:// THE CHALMERS FAMILY Here we are, the Chalmers Family. We work together every single day. Over 30 years in the wine industry, never a dull moment, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 06.01.2022 #Repost @cellarhandwine with @get_repost The Chalmers have shaped viticulture in Australia, declares @ozwinereview in this month’s edition of @gtwinemag. The winners of this magazine’s 2014 #Viticulturist of the Year award, the #Chalmers family is singularly responsible for bringing varieties like #Sagrantino, #Aglianico and Vermentino into the country. It’s true, Australia owes a great debt to sisters @tennillechalmers and @kimchalmers, Kim’s husband @bartvanolphen (...swipe to see) and, of course, the girls’ parents Bruce and @jennichalmers1. Few have done more to promote climate-appropriate grape varieties in Australia than the Chalmers family, through their #vine #nursery business, their vineyards and their own wines, is how @maxallendrinks put it. The point about environmental sustainability is an important one. But we’re here to talk about #wine and what the Chalmers family has also done is add a tremendous amount of #colour, #flavour and #texture to the Australian wine landscape. The grapes they grow for their own wines sing in our warm backyard, with delicious freshness and the bite and personality of their Italian DNA. And the vino del giorno is the Chalmers’ sisters’ go-to dry white: 2019 Chalmers #Vermentino. Glossy, fresh, juicy with white peach and lemon, a herb-spice twist of lemongrass and ginger and a touch of chalkiness and sea-spray tang. #chalmersfamily #instawine #multiviticulturalism #diversity #varietyisthespiceoflife #heathcote #aussiewine #cellarhandwine See more

02.01.2022 http://HEATHCOTE PECORINO Off and racing, our #heathcote #pecorino block has sprung to life, starting the journey to producing it’s second wine in #v21. We imported this new-to-australia variety in 2015 and after super successful trials from the #MERBEIN nursery block we will be releasing our first wine from the Heathcote vineyard under our main #Chalmers label in the next few months. #newwine #21STCV #australianwine #victorianwine #welovepecorino
02.01.2022 http:// NERO D’AVOLA // SO HOT RIGHT NOW . By now, many people have heard about this attractive Sicilian red grape variety, tried it, fallen in love with it, and can’t wait to get their hands on some more of it. If you haven’t, now is the time to get on this good train. .... It’s a sun loving variety that thrives in Australia’s warm, dry climates. It was imported from Italy by Chalmers almost 20 years ago. Since then through our nursery we’ve propagated, planted and propagated more to grow for ourselves in both our Heathcote & Merbein vineyards, and to develop enough material of the variety to supply the high demand and interest Nero has had across Australia in the last 10 years. Mr Popular! Whose Nero have you tried? . Our Chalmers Nero d’Avola? Highly drinkable. Cherry-berry flavours with dustings of dried herbs and spices. In balance, in form, in juiciness we trust. From @campbellmattinson for the 2020 @winecompanion . NEED IT? WANT IT? Lucky you, this wine is currently on special on our website, purely for the reason that is one of our top selling wines. 02.01.2022 ** NEW PRODUCT RELEASE ** Chalmers Project Col Fondo 2019 At Chalmers, we’re never shy of proclaiming our love of Aglianico, and rose. and sparkling wine for that matter. So we’ve decided to trial blending these three passions and loves into the one product.... Together with the incredibly talented and trusty team of premium sparkling winemakers at Kilchurn, we have been able to make this dream come alive. We made a special barrel selection of just one Barrique of 100% Chalmers Aglianico Rosato 2019, shipped it off to Kilchurn where they worked their magic on producing a Col Fondo style sparkling for us. The result is an exciting new release sparkling rosato under Chalmers Project, and we’ve made just 20 dozen this first trial vintage. What is Col Fondo? Col Fondo is unfiltered sparkling wine and it’s cloudy with the lees left in the bottle. With its second fermentation occurring in the bottle, similar to Champagne, the result is something drier and more savoury, and typically a terroir-driven wine which can be a little funky and pleasantly sour with no dosage. No funk here though. Freshly squeezed cloudy pink grapefruit in colour, attractive, red-fruited perfume, tart yet moreish with lots of zip and texture on the palate. Fine fizz with a deliciousness that screams ‘pour me another glass’. Super small production so availability is limited. First in, best dressed. https://www.chalmers.com.au/product/colfondo2019
