22.01.2022 Tonight we say goodbye to a very different 2020 and tomorrow we look towards a new 2021 and I think we can safely say what a journey it has been. We here at the Chamber would love to know what priorities, dreams, or goals are on your business to-do list for next year? Let us be all be inspired by commenting on the post below!

20.01.2022 A sweet solution to labor shortage Foxalicous Fruit, a certified organic farm near Katherine, became the first Northern Territory employer in the Agriculture sector to use the Pacific Labour Scheme when it hired Inacio De Araujo Sarmento from Timor Leste on a Two-Year Contract. The company has employed workers from Vanuatu through the Seasonal Worker Programme since the beginning of 2017 by using the Job Shop, an approved employer for both programs. The SWP has provided Foxal...icious Fruit with a reliable, returning workforce each season, but they could see the benefit in hiring workers for a longer period. While the SWP allows employers to recruit workers in low-skilled positions for up to nine months, the PLS includes low to semi-skilled jobs in contracts for up to three years. The extended employment period means more opportunity to plan ahead. 13.01.2022 A huge thank you to Toni Tap Coutts, Jake Quinlivan, Jessica Powter, the committee and the team from Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre for hosting the last business Sunset in 2020. It was exciting to hear about recent developments and we look forward to seeing the art and culture centre continue to grow and prosper in 2021. 10.01.2022 We are excited to have Michael Feldbauer, Managing Director of Territory Technology Services as our first contributor for 2021. Each week will be asking our members to give thought to an issue, topic, or opportunity that impacts Territory businesses and our community. In keeping in line with what is happening with weather patterns across the Top End, the Chamber has developed (with additional sources) a Severe Weather Event Contingency Plan template. This can be found at ht...tps://www.chambernt.com.au/documents/item/1540 Is your business ready for a Severe Weather Event? Michael Feldbauer Territory Technology Solutions https://www.techsolutions.com.au/ If a cyclone or severe weather event hits your region now, would your Information and Communication (ICT) system be ready? Businesses do the right thing by securing the premises, organising food and water in case of an emergency. Ensuring that staff has a safe passage home often overlooks the importance of the ICT system. Without correct preparation getting your business back up and running after a severe weather event may be difficult. Over the past five years, we have seen businesses moving away from onsite ICT systems/servers to cloud-based technology. We can now access information from other devices such as home PC, laptops, IPAD, etc. Convenient, yes, but do you know all your login in details or passwords? Or are you relying on google password? Not the most secure option. To read Michael full blog visit https://www.chambernt.com.au/business-support/blogs
