23.01.2022 Another day of great weather and blue skies. Today was more rolling pastoral farms than Vineyards - but we made up for that in the afternoon with a very extravagant lunch at Bimbadgen estate. A bit shorter today a 65k but that gave us time to enjoy the pool (again) and work on those tan lines!

23.01.2022 Deep into the Dolomites today! First up - last climb on stage 20 Giro d’Italia. Then a magic little gorge with amazing green water. Add some good coffee and it was a great day. You can certainly tell the Giro is close... even closer tomorrow! Stage 19 watch out!

23.01.2022 With bad weather and closed roads we bailed on Bormio and searched for some sunshine. Where did we find it? Lago d’Garda - not a bad alternative. We squeezed in a sneaky 70km during our transit to Fiera. Peeps were happy!

21.01.2022 Vineyards, valleys, wooden bridges and cobbles. A lot of green, a lot of flowers and very pretty farms. 92km done by a bunch of 60 and 70yr olds - I am so impressed by these guys. Dinner was then a Japanese feast outside with the biggest and baddest lightning and thunder show I have seen in a long time.

20.01.2022 Our traditional Bormio Burger Challenge went off with a bang! Check out the size of these burgers! We had a twist this year with some opting for the 1.3kg Tomahawk... as you can see nothing left but the bone. Awesome work fellas!

19.01.2022 Captains Ride Day 5 - almost done. A bit shorter but a whole lot hotter. Changed to an earlier start to beat the heat... still saw 45 degrees out there on the Garmins.

17.01.2022 Velothon 2019 on the warm Sunshine Coast is just around the corner (19-21 July). Three days of cycling through the Coast’s hinterland. 16.01.2022 Day 2, which was meant to be a recovery/easy day.... wasn’t. Pretty much 100k of solid 40-50k/h head and crosswinds. No where to hide. Watch out for tomorrow’s 170k monster!

13.01.2022 Captains Ride Day 4.... wasn’t as long as yesterday at only 120km but damn it was hot! We saw 38degrees out there. Just missed road closures because of the local bush fires... thought it might have been the heat from the speed of Peloton 1. Real champions today!

10.01.2022 So another adventure begins - The Captain’s Ride 2019. With a road trip up to Toowoomba Qld we have done a bit of exploring and riding with the locals. Yesterda...y we set up the Chameleon Workshop and checked over all the 70+ bikes in preparation for the 6 big days of riding ahead of us. 800km, 6 days, 70+ riders raising money for kids with rare diseases with the Steve Waugh Foundation. 09.01.2022 Day 3 done and another 90km for these 60/70yr olds... I can’t stop them! With a different route through the vineyards under the same cracking blue sky it was smiles and jokes all round. We had a great afternoon visit to Tinonee Vineyard Estate for some amazing cheeses and great selection of wines. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

06.01.2022 Well Stelvio was closed because of an avalanche... so we did an old favourite of ours instead which didn’t disappoint. Fraele surprised a few in a good way - that’s a win I believe! A bit wet, a bit chilly but smiles all around. Now it’s off to our traditional Bormio Burger Challenge. Stay tuned!

06.01.2022 Day 3 The big one done. Toowoomba to Warwick and 171km at almost 30kph. Great work P1 you’ve still got some legs.

06.01.2022 Some more big days in the Dolomites chasing the Giro d’Italia. Today was stage 19 and we found it. We also found a few big mountains to climb, a few roads washed away - one giant dog and some pretty amazing scenery. With our return to the hotel we also find a few big black trucks and buses of Team Ineos. Let’s see if they can out eat us at the buffet breakfast!!

05.01.2022 So... it seems people still want to do the TDU in ‘21. We have had a few inquiries for our bike transportation so we thought we better put it out there. Dates look like this - January 14th pick up in Sydney and return to Sydney on the 26th. $250 per bike. If you are interested in a spot for January show us your interest by email - [email protected]... Some places are already taken so don’t wait!

04.01.2022 So we had a returning group booked for the Pyrenees, Girona and Costa Brava for June 2020.... Covid-19 changed those plans. November 2020... let’s do Adelaide... I made it to Wagga Wagga with 16 bikes on Monday afternoon... to hear there is a COVID-19 outbreak in SA, Tuesday I return to Sydney. By Wednesday S.A. is in full lock down. Thursday comes and we are now in the Hunter Valley and have just completed our first ride through the vineyards in glorious sunshine. Things don’t always work out the way they are planned... but it’s the way you react to them is what makes the difference. Being flexible, adaptive and experienced enough to make a bad situation into a great adventure it what it’s all about.

02.01.2022 Giro stage 20 x 2! We really did put the adventure in today, we hit a road block of about 1000 sheep! We also had the Team Ineos riders at our hotel which was very cool. With two awesome climbs and one hill we followed it all up with about 7 pizzas, 4 piles of lovely salted hot chips, several jugs of beer and a barrel full of pasta! What another great day.

01.01.2022 Big loop with big mountains and big fun! Passo Rolle, Valles and Cereda. The Dolomites are truly amazing!
