24.01.2022 Caring for women with cancer doesnt stop once they have finished their treatment. A grassroots Gold Coast charity, The Shell Family Inc, will help ensure women... are cared for as they continue on their health journey. The charity donated $6000 to go towards The Womens Wellness After Cancer Program which is a 12-week structured lifestyle program in improving health and wellness in women who have had breast, blood or gynaecological cancer. The program was piloted by Gold Coast Health two years ago and specialist breast nurses have worked with the Cancer Council Queensland to develop a face-to-face and online program. Currently women across the state are taking part in the first online series. The program focuses on physical activity, healthy eating, better sleep and lifestyle habits, and improving quality of life. The program has been developed especially for women after cancer and is based on the latest research evidence. It has been demonstrated to improve patients physical and psycho-social wellbeing after cancer treatment. The donation was accepted by Gold Coast Health breast clinical nurse consultant Bethany Crowe (front left), and clinical nurses Katie Head and Melissa Lawrie (back) from Shell Family Incs Marcia Neaves (front right). I spoke to the community centre yesterday and until they go to Stage 3 with Covi...d easing of restrictions we cannot hold this next pamper day BUT.... if the Govt/Council move to Stage 3 early, we can! Stay tuned. If we cannot do the 3rd of July I will be rebooking a special one for mid/late July as I know how many lovely ladies are desperate for a Pamper day..
