25.01.2022 It was such a busy day today - we had to call in the Elf to help with surgery as we had an emergency with a poor dog who came in looking pretty stuffed. The surgery was a success but the dog started to look quite flat in recovery so Elf had to do CPR. The dog has now made a full recovery and is back to its usual fluffy and hyperactive self. Feel free to share our posts and follow our Clinic page www.championlakevet.com.au

11.01.2022 Today we'd like to highlight all the incredible work vets do for wildlife! We wouldn't be able to do our work without the incredible support from Roleystone ...Animal Hospital, Champion Lake Vet Centre and Riseley Veterinary Centre. Every day we have patients needing to see vets for professional advice, treatments, x-rays and surgeries. Without the support of these amazing vet teams we would not be able to achieve the high level of care and successful patient outcomes at the shelter. Thank you to these amazing veterinary teams! Did you know that vet clinics who treat wildlife often do this in their breaks, lunch times and outside of work hours? Did you know that vets get ZERO government subsidies or assistance to help cover costs of treating wildlife? So next time you see a veterinary professional who treats and assesses wildlife, make sure you let them know how appreciated they are! Vets who treat wildlife are altruistic heroes.

11.01.2022 Some of our pets may be suffering separation anxiety now that we arent all at home so much, so its really important to keep them safely occupied. 07.01.2022 Absolutely incredible recovery! Our members rescued this darter after she was found unable to fly and almost moribund. She was rushed to our incredible local v...ets, Champion Lake Vet Centre, and x-rayed. She had a thickened, injured wrist. Wing joint injuries are very serious and can often be a means for immediate euthanasia. However the vets decided to give her a go and we took her back for rehabilitation. She received fluid therapy, assisted feeding, a long course of antiinflammatories before heading out to our large waterfowl pre-release enclosure for flight strength building and feeding up. She gained over 50% of her weight in four weeks and went from unable to stand to flying and swimming in the large enclosure. Absolutely incredible work once again! Thank you to the member of the public who reported her, and to our amazing volunteer team. Fly free you beautiful bird! We feel honoured to have been able to help you return to the wild.

04.01.2022 This little 5 month old Joey (still so young that its ear flaps hadnt separated from each other yet) was brought in to our Clinic because it had dry eyes and an ulcer. An unfortunate side effect of it being out of the pouch too young. Darling Range Wildlife are caring for it till it is old enough to be safely released. It was such a well behaved little cutesy and so Dr Colin was able to exam its eyes and give treatment straight away. The older Joey (hand raised) came along for moral support - and cuddles with the Team. Feel free to share our posts www.championlakevet.com.au
