24.01.2022 We need to be supporting the young members of our community I think it would be great to see lights down at the skatepark, Keeping our BMX tracks maintained for our riders... VOTE 1 Ben Blain

24.01.2022 Wouldn't it have been great at last nights meeting if the council had decided bring back free parking in the CBD while we are under stage 3 restrictions. What do you think, should we should have bought back the free parking at last nights meeting?

23.01.2022 Tomorrow, you will find Steve Moore and I at the pedestrian crossing in Liebig st from 11am to 1 pm. Bring your questions and concerns to these council candidates, see you there. Vote 1 Ben Blain

23.01.2022 A little bit about me, I was born in Warrnambool and have always loved the natural surrounds and the lifestyle that makes it a great place to live. I have now cemented my connection with City by purchasing a house with my wife Natalie. I am the Vice President of the Warrnambool Ratepayers Association and have been advocating for the community through this role. ... I am a small business owner and understand the tough times in the current pandemic. We need our council to be empathetic and enabling for all residents and businesses to encourage recovery to the Warrnambool economy. We need a new type of council that has the community of Warrnambool at heart and I will do my best to deliver this for all the community.

23.01.2022 This Saturday you will find us again at the pedestrian crossing in Liebig st, from 11am to 1pm We would love to catch up and have a listen to your suggestions and concerns. Social distancing applies.

23.01.2022 Look after each other, Stage 3 for regional Vic Wednesday

22.01.2022 CBD Parking We need to be supporting our traders more than ever, free parking in the CBD is one way we can help all our traders to prosper in Warrnambool. What would you like to see happeneing with parking in the CBD?

22.01.2022 Public Question Time March 2020 In March 2020 council voted to change the Reid Oval design from concept 2 to concept 1. I asked how much this would cost us? It cost an estimated $44,000! Council needs to be accountable for every dollar they spend. I want to see council spending to advance our community.... Vote 1 Ben Blain Candidate for the Ratepayers See full response below

20.01.2022 September Public Question 2020 I have been attending council meetings for around 5 years, I have always been active participating in public question time. I asked at the September meeting why did you end the employment of the CEO? This is the response. Council need to be open with the community. I want be a part of a council that does better, Vote 1 Ben Blain - Candidate for the Ratepayers

20.01.2022 Local Government Election will go ahead. We have our chance for change!

19.01.2022 My letter to the editor, Warrnambool Standard Saturday 8th of August What has our council learned about transparency over their last term? The community has a right to be informed about the actions of the council and the reasons behind their decisions. This week a new transparency policy was adopted by the council, but what is the point of this if the councillors aren't prepared to practice what they preach. Conducting business behind closed doors is causing an air of distrus...t between the community and the council. The sacking of the CEO wasn't the first time we had seen this lack of transparency, we also witnessed this when the credit card expense scandal was exposed. The community was seeking reassurance that it had been reported and was being investigated through the correct channels. The council was evasive with their answers and consequently failed to set the community's mind at ease. The customer satisfaction survey results show how hard the reputation of the council has been hit, closed-door decisions are adding to the dissatisfaction with their performance. It seems the current councillors are unconcerned with rebuilding the reputation of the council. So much of the great work the council does is lost between stories of scandal. Restoring the reputation of the council will call for a group of elected members willing to work with the residents to make Warrnambool the best it can be.

19.01.2022 We could be doing so much more with Aquazone! It could be a 24 hour Gym We could still have our diving board It could be an aquatics centre that draws visitors to our city... VOTE 1 Ben Blain

14.01.2022 Another car was claimed by the unsafe boat ramp in August this year. This needs to stop happening! We need a safe harbour for all recreational boaters to use. We need to have the business case together to be actively lobbying the state government for funding to improve our facility.... Our Harbour is one of the worst two boat ramps in Victoria! There is $30 million in funding waiting to improve boating facilities across Victoria, we need to get our share.

14.01.2022 Please let me know in the comments or send a PM. Don't forget to like and share. What would you like to see council doing?

14.01.2022 Keep things local, we are all in this together

12.01.2022 I want to see council run more like a bussiness and be able to fund some of its own projects instead of having to borrow for everything we take on. As a small business owner I understand how important it is to make every dollar count. Many other councils around us operate on around half the budget revenue Warrnambool operates on. We are all paying enough in our rates to be able to do this, so why arent we? Would you like council to be able to fund more of its projects through its current revenue? Let me know what you think in the comments.

12.01.2022 That's a wrap! Last minute votes will be in over the next week, opening of the ballots will start Monday and counting will start the following week. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive over the campaign.... Thank you to everyone who have helped out in so many different ways, it really means alot. Good luck to all the candidates that have nominated, let's all work for a better Warrnambool!

11.01.2022 June Budget Submission Here is the submission I submitted to council outlining how we could fund a rate freeze, free parking and waiving user fees for traders and sporting groups. http://www.warrnamboolratepayers.com/wra-budget-submission/

10.01.2022 Rotary Dairy switchboard with built in generator changeover switch.

10.01.2022 We need to keep up the relief for all our community! Is there anything else your like to see for stage 3 this time around?

09.01.2022 The free parking will be welcome relief for traders, We need to make sure council enforces the time limits.

09.01.2022 Public Footpaths have been seeing alot of use over the past 6 months. As we move out of lockdown we are going to see more visitors coming to our city wanting to explore our natural beauty, I hope to make our footpaths and walking tracks a priority for council. We need to have them in top condiction for everyone in the community to use and enjoy the natural wonder that surround us. Do you think we need to be spending more on our footpaths and public assets? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

09.01.2022 Don't forget tonight at 5.45pm is the last open council meeting of the current council before it moves in caretaker mode, I have been attending council meetings in the chambers for over 5 years, Do you think the council should keep live streaming meetings once we move to Covid normal? This could enable all of us to hold our council accountable to their decisions.... Another possible change towards to an open and transparent council. You can watch it here https://www.warrnambool.vic.gov.au/council-meeting

08.01.2022 3/4/2020 Letter To the Editor Here are some of my ideas on what council could have been looking at to support our community. The Businesses and Residents of Warrnambool need leadership from Warrnambool City Council NOW! ...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Some of my aims in the upcoming term of council are Reduce or Freeze Rates for all Warrnambool Keep our Weekly general waste pickup not let it go to fortnightly Get funding for a safe harbour... 07.01.2022 Openness and Transparency is going to be critical to rebuild the trust between council and the community. Check out my ideas on how we can make council meeting more open to imput from the public. What would you like to see done to make council more open to the public?

06.01.2022 Council needs stop hitting ratepayers and offer relief to our community. Everyone has been hit by the pandemic. Don't be afraid to put in an objection or ask for a waiver on your rates, I hope we could offer a rates freeze to give the community some relief.
