25.01.2022 Hi Everyone, I hope you're all well. I thought this might be of interest to some of you who are located in Melbourne. My amazing housemate from Green Light Theatre is putting on this incredible play telling the very important story of two women who have just come out of prison. I thought it might be relevant as it displays the complexity of trauma and how it can play out later on in life and within relationships. Also, the performance that they are putting on on the 14th Dec is a fundraiser to support women leaving prison! I've seen this twice now and I just loved it. If you're interested, here's the link. https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=565703
25.01.2022 I took this picture on New Years Day! I was staying out at Eltham with some friends and wed just been swimming at the Laughing Waters.... total bliss! Seeing this sign was the perfect reminder of how to start the year. Although were now in February and things are back into full swing again, the message is still strong! I can be really good at showing love and compassion towards others but can sometimes struggle with showing it towards myself. At times it means doing les...s and saying no to that extra thing that I thought I could take on. Sometimes it means doing the one thing that really scares me and that Ive been avoiding. Sometimes it means creating space for myself to get clear on what I need to move forward. Its a work in progress and its important to celebrate the little victories in life even if it is just a moment for yourself. If you need some time for you, and want some clarity of purpose and setting direction; check out my upcoming mountain yoga retreat at Clearview Retreat, King Parrot Valley from 27-29th March. Visit www.changewithyoga.com for details.

16.01.2022 I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that it is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening- a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation. I have little doubt that as individuals, families, communities, and even nations, we have the capacity to learn how to heal and prevent much of the damage done by trauma. In so doing, we will significantly increase our ability to achieve our individual and collective dreams. Peter A. Levine: Healing Trauma; A Pioneering Program for Restoring the Wisdom of Your Body
15.01.2022 Addiction is not a choice anybody makes. Its a response to emotional pain. Do we need to rethink addiction?

09.01.2022 Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. -Victor E. Frankl- This last week has been a tough one for me. Without going into the details, Ive felt like Ive been on a roller coaster to say the least; but the experience has been bittersweet! Somehow within the adversity Ive also felt overwhelmed by the love and support of my friends and family, as well as incredibly grateful for my own practice. My yoga practice is just that! Its a practice and it sure has paid off in times when I am challenged. I love the above quote! Its taught me within my practice to be really present with how I am in the now. The more I can practice being present with myself, the more skilfulI I become in knowing what I need.

03.01.2022 Last weekend I watched the documentary Cracked Up; the story of Darrell Hammond. It's currently showing on Netflix. It's been quite the topic in our household and has made a lasting impression. This documentary is about childhood trauma and how this can have such a profound affect on people in adult life. It's a confronting watch but so worth it. There is a mention of the benefits of yoga and other body based practices and features a discussion with Dr Bessel Van der Kolk. Check out the trailer below. This relates to so much of the work that I do in both Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) and Yoga Therapy. https://youtu.be/fK_WmHUqvvk
02.01.2022 Im so excited to be running this workshop with Caroline from Experience Yoga check out this video to hear about whats involved and for the details.
02.01.2022 Last Saturday I was lucky enough to be in the ACT and attended a @yogaaustralia event. I love these gatherings as its a chance to connect with other yoga teachers and therapists, to hear how Yoga Australia is helping to promote positive change for the yoga industry in Australia and I love the CPD they organise with these events too! I was particularly interested in this one as it was with Chris from @frontlineyogainc Frontline Yoga is doing amazing work offering trauma awar...e and culturally informed classes for first responders, emergency services and military veterans. If you know of anyone who might be interested send them their way. Frontline Yoga also offers trainings in this area too. I was also super excited to meet the wonderful @kendrahealingarts a yoga therapist based in the ACT too. Such a win win weekend @ Rise Studio Canberra
