18.01.2022 Whilst writing the football book we collected lots of photos, many of which didn’t make into the final version of the book. But they’re too good just to be sit...ting around in storage so I’ll try and post them on here, maybe one a week or something like that. The photo below is actually in the book, but I am posting it today for a specific reason. This is the first ever Channel Football Team. The player 9th from the front (not including the mascot) is Kevin Bradburn who passed away earlier this week. Kevin played many games for Channel, and many for Kingston (and may even have been named full back in the Kingston team of the century). Back in those days it was the full back who always kicked out after a point. And if the game was tight in the last quarter you could guarantee the Kevin would always kick the ball straight over the boundary on the full (it wasn’t illegal back then. See more

17.01.2022 We still have about 60 copies of our Football Book left. We are planning on having a one day sale of the book at the Channel Museum Fair on Sunday the 27th of O...ctober. For supporters of the Channel Football Club and the Channel Museum, the price will be $25. And Julie and I will be on hand, if anyone would like a signed copy. We have covered our costs with the book, so we are not concerned about the money side of things. We simply want the books to end up with people who will appreciate them, rather than sitting unsold. And we are aware that the Ashton Denehey Park is being opened next week. So, the sale is partly in commemoration. Thanks. See more

13.01.2022 Hi all On September 14 we are having past players and Diamond Des day at the clubrooms starting at 1 o’clock. Not sure wether there will be a final on the Tele or not but come along for a beer and a Catch up we’ll have some food and plenty of beer so all are welcome.

10.01.2022 This is a photo that I recently posted on the Channel Museum page. It’s a Margate Primary School team from about 1966, give or take a year or two. How many fo...rmer Channel players can you recognise? There are 2 who were in the first ever Channel Senior Premiership, and there are (at least) 2 life members and (at least) 2 members of the first Reserves Premiership. See more

09.01.2022 And a trivia question for you. Who was the first Channel player of any grade (Seniors, Reserves, U17) to kick 8 goals in a match?

08.01.2022 Hi all We’re sorry to say that unfortunately the past players day on Saturday is cancelled. Being such a late date in the season hasn’t been ideal for many, clashes with other events and also with the footy finals being both night games hasn’t helped. Next year we have seniors/reserves 30 year and underage 40 year premiership reunions so it will be massive!! We will endeavour to have a date locked in early and are hoping that this will help with peoples ability too attend.... We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward too see you next year. Cheers Darren Sinnitt

08.01.2022 This is a photo of a Channel Junior team apparently taken in 1978. If anyone can provide names or any other context to the photo, it’d be good to hear from you.... Brad (Sculthorpe) is setting up a website for the Junior Football Club and would like to include a bit on its history. As far as we know the juniors started in 1975, but it may have been a year or two before that. If anyone can shed any light on this, please let us know. Brad would also like to include other early photos of junior teams, and, again, please let either Brad or myself know if you can help Thanks. See more
