25.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet. "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." ..."That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to everyone having a Difficult Day today. I hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you

25.01.2022 Hurt people, hurt people. That’s what generational trauma looks like... We are products of our environments, be it home, be it school, be it societal conditioning. ... More often than not, mental illness is the brain/body screaming to return to its healthy & harmonious equilibrium. It is doing its best to survive, with what it knows. Neuroplasticity is the ability to rewire the brain. We can teach it differently. Therapy heals. Therapy works. #addictionrecovery #highperformance #wellbeing #therapy #mentalhealth #emotionalhealth #wellness #addiction #recovery #selfmastery #healing

24.01.2022 It never gets easier witnessing the retelling and reliving of unimaginable (yet too common) childhood trauma in adult clients. They have carried that pain and are finally at a point to process and let it go. There are stories that are too big for any heart or body to hold, experiences that are never known, but instead seen as that girl or that guy that is a bit off the rails.... Addiction is a coping response to trauma. There is a child inside that is desperately looking for healing. A child that is terrified. And if we could turn back time, we would remove abusive parents from households EARLIER, we would educate parents on the fatal damage of their ignorance. We would intervene. We would educate. For anyone who is in the life of any young child, as a teacher, a neighbour, a relative... if a parent cant be a parent, DO SOMETHING. Rant end. #AddictionRecovery #HighPerformance #Wellbeing #TraumaResolution #Healing #EarlyIntervention #Prevention

24.01.2022 When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures..., have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares. Henri J.M. Nouwen in The Road to Daybreak: A Spiritual Journey.

21.01.2022 A belated Christmas wish... May you all enjoy this season of gentleness, love, gratitude and togetherness Merry Christmas to all... and Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!

21.01.2022 We did it babe! Two years ago, we made the choice to get sober. Although the choice at first, seemed like it was made for us under our circumstances, but we man...aged to continue making the conscious decision everyday not to use. We were expecting our 2nd little boy Liam and I was in jail. We had no idea the road ahead of us. I know a lot of couples can’t get sober together, but for us it was different. We are now expecting baby boy number 3 and taking care of all of our responsibilities. We aren’t perfect but so far we have made it out of that dark black hole that we once never saw an end to. I’m BEYOND proud of us doing this together but also separately. You have been my BIGGEST supporter since day one. This is recovery, it may not be perfect but GOD is it worth it. 20.01.2022 #SoberSuperhero Samuel L. Jackson 24 years sober!! "The actor declared that getting sober over 20 years ago significantly enhanced his acting, leading to the pi...nnacle performances of his career. (his films have grossed $8 billion, blockbusters including Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park and the Star Wars trilogy.) Jackson, who lost his father to alcoholism, says his drug use began in the late Seventies when he performed in NYC's acclaimed Negro Ensemble Company. "I fancied myself as Oliver Reed...I drank and I used drugs," says Jackson. "I liked the feeling of not being cognisant of what was going on around me. I was working the whole time. I rehearsed and performed on drugs. I went on stage and watched peoples eyes roll across stage and Id go, Oh, I have a line, OK got to focus on the play now. The turning point came when his wife Latanya and daughter Zoe came home to find him passed out drunk on the kitchen floor with cocaine he had cooked himself. When I looked up, LaTanya and Zoe were standing there," he recalls. "The cocaine was cooked but Id never smoked it. That was the first time LaTanya realised I was doing something that was greater than just smoking weed and drinking. Jackson checked into rehab immediately after that. Two weeks after finishing treatment, he filmed his breakout performance as a crack addict in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever. Jackson hasn't relapsed since."

20.01.2022 #SoberSuperhero Michael J. Fox 24 years sober!! Michael developed a drinking problem after he was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease in 1991. I craved alcohol ...as a direct response to the need I felt to escape my situation. Joyless and secretive, I drank to disassociate; drinking now was about isolation and self-medication. "My happiness grows in direct proportion to my acceptance, & in inverse proportion to my expectations." - Michael

18.01.2022 #SoberSuperhero Gerard Butler 19 years sober!! "The Scottish actor, whose blackout drinking destroyed his career ambitions to become a lawyer, quit drinking and... got his life back together, to become an internationally known actor. I had gone from a 16-year-old who couldnt wait to grasp life to a 22-year-old who didnt care if he died in his sleep, Butler, working as a trainee at an Edinburgh law firm at the time, explains that his drinking got him fired from the job. I used to drink until I couldnt remember anything. I was just mad for it and on a death wish. It was madness. Unemployed, Butler, who had no acting training, quit drinking and moved to London where he reunited with an old girlfriend who was a casting director. She scored him his first role in a play at the age of 27, and his career took off from there. One or two drinks was never enough for me. I was a foot-on-the-floor-all-the-way drinker, so it had to go. I dont miss it. Now its as if I never had a drink in my life. At one point, I could never have conceived going out and not drinking but, as time goes on, you lose the urge and the insecurity that often makes people drink in the first place.

18.01.2022 And on the seventh day... God chilled. #Fishing with pops! Well he fished, I sunbaked... Rest and relaxation is paramount for our self care. I noticed I hadnt adequately scheduled a rest day since January ... My Sunday funday began with an online Maronite mass, followed by speedboat day with dad. A day for what grounds me and makes my heart smile. In the words of Matthew Kelly, dedicated time for carefree timelessness. Where have you overlooked this crucial element of your self care, as I had mine? Is there one regular day you can press pause, ground yourself and spend it in carefree timelessness? What day would that be? And what would make your heart smile? #AddictionRecovery #HighPerformance #Wellbeing #SelfCare #RelaxandRejuvinate #Presence #Connection #Quietude #Anxiety #Depression #Healing #PTSD #TraumaResolution #Therapy #Counselling

02.01.2022 In session this morning with a long term client, we had no modules to work through, nothing to brainspot, and all was good in the hood . So I picked a bunch of random yet relevant books off my bookshelf that we could choose one to deep dive into and explore. He wanted a photo of them all, thought Id share them with you all too!... 01.01.2022 #SoberSuperhero Rob Lowe 26 years sober!! "Recovery is a road of many surprising, unexpected gifts." -Rob... "Everyone at some point has to come to terms with their own relationship with drugs and alcohol. I have learned a few things over the years. Whenever I have an opportunity to share that with people, it's very fulfilling to do it." -Rob "Being in recovery has given me everything of value that I have in my life. Integrity, honesty, fearlessness, faith, a relationship with God, and most of all gratitude. It's given me a beautiful family and an amazing career. I'm under no illusions where I would be without the gift of alcoholism and the chance to recover from it." -Rob "She inspired me to get sober. She's put up with my defects of character as they call it. In sobriety the lessons keep coming if you're lucky enough to be along as long as I have. She's stood by through all of that. And I love you very much," -Rob to his wife.

01.01.2022 In Crown Heights, there was a Jewish man named Yankel, who owned a bakery. He survived the concentration camps, and always said, "You know why it is that Im al...ive today?" "I was a kid, just a teenager at the time. We were on the train being taken to Auschwitz. Night came and it was deathly cold in that boxcar. The Germans would leave the cars on the side of the tracks overnight, sometimes for days on end without any food, and no blankets to keep us warm," he said. "Sitting next to me was this beloved elderly Jewish man from my hometown. He was shivering from head to toe, and looked terrible. So I wrapped my arms around him to warm him up. I rubbed his arms, his legs, his face, his neck. I begged him to hang on. All night long, I kept the man warm this way. "I was tired, and freezing cold myself. My fingers were numb, but I didnt stop rubbing heat into that old mans body. Hours and hours went by until finally, morning came and the sun began to shine. When there was some light in the boxcar, I looked around to see the other people. To my horror, all I could see were frozen bodies. All I could hear was deathly silence. "Nobody else in that cabin made it through the night. They died from the cold. Only two people survived: the old man and me. The old man survived because somebody kept him warm...and I survived because I was warming someone else. "Can I tell you the secret to survival in this world? When you warm other peoples hearts, you remain warm yourself. When you seek to support, encourage and inspire others, then you discover support, encouragement and inspiration in your own life as well. That, my friends, is the secret to life." ~~Author Unknown~~
