23.01.2022 another lens to which to view our experience of the human body is through the five #koshas / sheaths we seek to bring these into harmony through exploration and practice ~ 1. annamaya kosha - our gross body (muscles, bones, organs, skin - think anatomical) seeking to balance upper to lower, right to left, front to back to be both strong and flexible through yoga asana... 2. pranamaya kosha - our life force energy can be balanced through, you guessed it, pranayama! (ie. breath work) 3. manomaya kosha - our mental sheath with the four functions of the mind to balance our thoughts and emotions through meditation 4. vijananamaya kosha - the knowledge sheath now accessing these higher mind where we can apply discernment and everything is clear. balanced through a deepened meditation practice 5. anandamaya kosha - the innermost sheath which is bliss representing unconditional love and happiness. this is beyond the mind and accessible for us to touch at any time! >>artwork by my bestie @mhiley @becbecbecbecbec #yoga #yogaphilosophy
21.01.2022 ‘events that happen within the moment, belong to the moment.’ - Michael Singer moments don’t belong to us and have nothing to do with us... therefore we need to stop clinging to our relationship with them and thinking about them.... just let it go, flow and surrender. so keen to sit with one my teachers @michelle__cassidy this weekend in an immersion of practicing meditation & pranamaya
19.01.2022 one way to purify the sacral chakra as to purify our desires can be through practicing hip openers ~ when applying right effort (effort with discernment) we open ourselves to the flow of life with expanded potential unattached to the outcome residing in peace #yoga

16.01.2022 roll & release ~ myofascial release fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle. fascia supports and protects these structures and we can keep them happy by putting pressure on the trigger points and releasing which helps to move freely. if you’re keen to learn more, @essenceofliving have their next online course kicking off tomorrow learning all things anatomy and techniques. anatomy is pretty foreign to me so luckily there’s six months to get through all the content
