08.01.2022 We’re hiring!! Chapman Valley is looking for an additional member to add to our team of Trail Guides! If you’re an enthusiastic, hard-working horse lover with great people skills, we want to hear from you! Duties include greeting and coaching customers, general horse duties (grooming, saddling, stable duties), and leading Trail Rides (teaching people to ride and handle horses safely and generally being a fun and reliable person to be around). Being a Trail Guide is a great op...portunity to meet people from all walks of life (many of our customers become great friends!), work outdoors, and spend time with the best animal in the world - Horses! (Okay, maybe we’re biased!) The horses at Chapman Valley are well mannered, healthy and much loved. We hold horse health and welfare to the highest standard - and hope to attract applicants with these same values. Applicants must be over 18 years, and be willing to work on the weekends. Trail Guides must be able to confidently walk, trot and canter, however, we’re more interested in a great personality and are happy to provide further training. We have free staff accommodation available onsite to help reduce travel. Applicants must pass a Working with Children Check and be willing to complete First Aid training. The position is Casual. Days will vary month to month, with some months being super busy (as many days as you want to work for the right applicant) and others being quieter. 01.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why they cut a mules tail in "bells"? Back in the day.....the Army used mules in service. A green mule had its tail shaved. By the time ...the mule was broke to pack, a 'bell' was trimmed in the tail. Once broke to drive, a second bell was added below the first. Broke to ride, a third tassel was trimmed below the second. Thus, a three-bell mule was a well-schooled animal. This way, when looking at a corral full of unknown mules, it was easy to identify which one to select for the job at hand! See more
