25.01.2022 Our legend facilitator Harrison taking Ipswich Central Year 5 through our famous Character Builders Boot Camp!! What a great Friday!

24.01.2022 We are now almost at the end of Week 9 of The Big Character Challenge! This week we have explored the skill of self-regulation and how we can self-regulate better to make better decisions for ourselves! However, there may still be times when we may fall to the temptations around us, such as the temptation to follow what others are doing, and may not be able to regulate our emotions and desires to do what’s really true to ourselves. The good news is, we can always recover and try again! So as we head into the weekends, let’s get back up and try to regulate our emotions, desires, temptations, and actions, so we can make decisions that is in our best interest! Have a good weekend! #characterbuilders #characterbuilding #selfregulation #temptation #skills #development #growth #brisbane #queensland

24.01.2022 It’s Week 4 of the Big Character Challenge. How are your tomatoes? #thebigcharacterchallenge @ Character Builders

23.01.2022 It is Week 8 of the Big Character Challenge and this week is all about the trait of judgement. Judgement is defined as "weighing all aspects objectively in making decisions, including arguments that are in conflict with my convictions.". Today we are going to focus on the end of this definition on considering all arguments. Good judgement isn't always about making the best decisions it is about being able to see when you are wrong and learning from your mistakes. Others can help you do this. This week we Challange you to make sure you are listening to all sides of the story not just your own, take the challenge! #week8 #bigcharacterchallange #judgement #learning #itsokaynottobeokay #characterbuilders #challenge #brisbane

23.01.2022 Seeing out the year with character. Let your character trumps the norm. Here’s 5 things we can all do before, during and after Christmas. 1. Spend some time exchanging talents with the elderly. Wisdom trumps tech but even the wise can see the value in technology. 2. Take on the job at home that no one likes to do and own it like a boss. Stepping up trumps leaving it for someone else. 3. Pass on a subtle but kind word to those that share distance with you. Connection trumps s...egregation. 4. Rise early to greet the day and all its possibilities. Early trumps late 5. Be actively present with the world around you. Stop, look, listen, smell, taste, touch, feel and be. Presence trumps complacency. See more

20.01.2022 We’re coming to the end of Week 8 of The Big Character Challenge.! Today, we would like to highlight the important role of judgement in our consumer buying behaviour. The things we decide to spend our money on is helping to shape the kind of world that we want to live in. By purchasing products that, for example, test animals unethically or promote deforestation, we are using our consumer power to support these environmentally unfriendly activities. So, because our thoughts, words, and actions create our environmental future, let’s be more aware of our judgement and use our consumer power to help shape the world in a better way. #judgement #consumer #power #money #characterbuilding #thebigcharacterchallenge #week8 #goodjudgement #ecofriendly #environment #betterjudgement

We at Character Builders would like to congratulate and thank everyone for working hard and staying dedicated in trying to build the various character strengths over the past 10 weeks with us. To end this week, let us all practice the character strength of honesty in all areas of our lives, from with our family at home to with our relationships with colleagues at work. 14.01.2022 As we come towards the end of Week 6 of The Big Character Challenge, let’s take a look at some characteristics that a persevering person has. Because the trait of perseverance can be developed, there are specific things we can work on to improve our ability to step up and move forward when everyone else sits down. According to Napoleon Bonaparte, there are 7 characteristics that we all can develop to gain perseverance in our lives! These are: 1. Having a clear purpose for why... the thing we need/want to do is important for us 2. Having the desire to really want to do it 3. Truly believing in yourself and your abilities 4. Setting clear goals and plans 5. Gaining accurate knowledge about the thing you are working on (this can be through self-learning or even talking to an expert!) 6. Having the willpower to stay dedicated (because the gem may be just a thin wall away ) 7. And finally, making these a habit so you can keep going forward and achieve your goal! Let us know what you think about these and feel free to share the things you do that helps you persevere through tasks and goals! #characterbuilding #thebigcharacterchallenge #week6 #perseverance #goals #strength #characterbuilders #brisbane

14.01.2022 We are midway through Week 7 of our Big Character Challenge and as you would have already seen this week is all about social intelligence. This attribute is incredibly sort after and needed in multiple settings one of which is the workplace. Understanding other people's thoughts and feelings and allowing them space is something we all need to learn. So we challenge you this week to use this skill as best you can in your workplace! Keep the challenge going! #bigcharacterchallange #week7 #socialintelligence #socialskills #workplace #work #challenge #characterbuilders #brisbane

14.01.2022 We have reached Week 10 of The Big Character Challenge, our final week! This week we are looking at the character strength of honesty. Today, let us take a look at how honesty can be encouraged in our homes. Alot of the times, when we do something naughty or shameful, it can be difficult to be honest about our actions with our parents, siblings, or friends. For parents too, it can be difficult at times to hear our kids be honest about mistakes they have made or regretful acti...ons they have done. But, regardless of how angry or disappointed we may be, by acknowledging and rewarding for honesty we can encourage everyone in the home to be more truthful and responsible for their own actions. What tips do you have for encouraging honestly in your home? Let us know! #characterbuilders #honesty #characterstrengths #thebigcharacterchallenge #week10 #finalweek #home #encourage #honesty #truthfulness #brisbane #queensland

This Wednesday we'd like to challenge you to consider how parenting and teamwork go hand in hand. Whether it's agreeing on approaches to parenting and discipline, deciding on children's bed times, helping with schooling ... The list is endless. Try to remember that a happy parenting team makes for a happy family team, and next time you notice teamwork among...st you and your partner, try to give yourselves your own big ups. #characterbuilders #thebigcharacterchallenge #brisbane #teamwork #parenting #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

13.01.2022 Happy Wednesday.! Yesterday, we talked about the first step towards reflection, slowing down - amber light. Now once we have slowed down our minds, we are ready to stop, pause, reflect and get ready to go again with the right focused mind! This mind-space is where we can reflect on what’s happening and how we can deal with things moving forward! #stop #reflection #wednesday #characterbuilders #brisbane #characterbuilding #redlight

11.01.2022 It's now Week 8 of the Big Character Challenge! This week we'll be looking at the character strength of judgement which can be described as 'I weigh all aspects objectively in making decisions, including arguments that are in conflict with my convictions'. No one is immune to acting in a way that doesn't represent their better judgement. However, standing by one's convictions is now more important than ever (particularly for young people). This week we challenge you to truthfully examine your conscience to better align your thoughts, words and actions with what you know is right. #character #characterbuilders #judgement #thebigcharacterchallenge #brisbane

10.01.2022 It’s been a huge year and we still have 1 month to go. Embrace each day. Have a great Monday everyone

09.01.2022 This week, as we will be focusing on the process of reflection, the process begins with a yellow light...a sign to slow down. Before we can reflect on our experiences, both internal and external, we need to slow down and prepare ourselves to recall the experience we want to reflect about. We don’t need to grind our lives to a halt but rather just to begin to slow down, recall, and get ready to begin reflecting on what has been, what we are doing right now, and how we can prepare for what is to come. Have a happy Tuesday! #reflection #goodjudgement #characterbuilders #yellowlight #slowdown #reflect #covid19 #brisbane

09.01.2022 As we come to the end of Week 7 of The Big Character Challenge, we wanted to highlight an important aspect of social intelligence: Timing. Timing is an essential part of social intelligence. Imagine you were sitting with a group of new people sharing funny stories. At one point, one of the group member’s stories brought up sad flashbacks for another member and the room goes quiet. At that point, a third member thinks the room has gone quiet so thinks it is his turn to share h...is funny story, and does so. Although the story may have been interesting and told beautifully, the timing was not quite right and that can harm rather than improve the relationships of that third member with the rest of the group! This weekend, let’s build our skills of social intelligence by noticing the timings of things that are brought up in conversations, see how that impacts the person listening, and try to make sure what we want to say is appropriate for the current atmosphere of the conversation! As beautifully said by Abraham Lincoln, When I get ready to talk to people, I spend two-thirds of the time thinking about what they want to hear, and one-third thinking about what I want to say. Have a lovely weekend! #characterbuilders #characterbuilding #thebigcharacterchallenge #week7 #socialintelligence #timing #abrahamlincoln #brisbaneteachers #brisbane #australia

09.01.2022 We are up to Week 6 of the Big Character Challenge this week! This week we'll be looking at the character strength of perseverance. Persistence is often needed to achieve and is important not to confuse with struggle. Instead, next time you are trying to reach a goal, consider this mantra: 'I persist toward my goals despite obstacles, discouragements or disappointments'. Whatever comes your way this week, we hope that you can invest your energy toward reaching your goals wit...h this mindset! Take the challenge this week to think about what perseverance could do for you! #characterbuilders #thebigcharacterchallenge #perseverance #pursue #brisbane

09.01.2022 We are all done with our Big Character Challenge now, so we thought we would take this week as a week of reflection for all of us. It is important to reflect on what you have been through as everyone's journey is so unique and special: the process of exploring this can add some clarity to what has happened and what may happen in the future. This week we will be reflecting on our experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic and life during it to give some perspective and maybe some guidance for the future. So stay tuned! #reflection #reflectiongram #journey #unique #clarity #future #guidance #characterbuilders #brisbane

08.01.2022 It's now Week 9 of the Big Character Challenge! This weeks character strength is self-regulation which is defined as - I manage my feelings and actions and am disciplined and self-controlled. We all have the ability to choose to be more disciplined. When the choices we make in life are too extreme or too relaxed we can fall out of balance. We can strive to find the choices that are right for ourselves by regulating the things we think, say and do. For this week, perhaps con...sider how much screen time you are allowing in your day? Could you better regulate your time? Wherever possible we encourage you this week to bring your life back into balance with self-regulation! #characterbuilders #character #bigcharacterchallenge #selfregulation #brisbane

This is a concept that no matter what age, culture or background we all have to deal with and it is one that a lot of us find hard to do so. So we offer to you to stop, think, then act! It is important to make sure the actions you are making will give more than they take so make sure you stop, think and then act. Take the challenge guys! #week9 #bigcharacterchallange #selfregulation #challenge #takethechallange #characterbuilders #youcandoit #brisbane

03.01.2022 Happy Monday ! We have reached the last week, Week 10 of The Big Character Challenge, and this week we will be looking at the character strength: Honesty! Most of us have heard about honesty being the best policy, but what really is honesty? Well, we at Character Builders believe that honesty is when we are true to ourselves and to others, and present ourselves and our reactions accurately to each person we meet, and take true responsibility for our actions! What do you think of our definition of honesty? Let us know in the comments below! #honesty #characterstrength #characterbuilders #week10 #thebigcharacterchallenge #finalweek #truetooneself #brisbane

02.01.2022 We're almost at the end of Week 8 of the Big Character Challenge! Today we wanted to look at the character strength of judgement and how it relates to open-mindedness. These two ideas serve each other well, as they enable a willingness to search actively for evidence against your own favoured beliefs, plans or goals. This can allow you to weigh evidence and information fairly. When used well, these strengths can enhance solid reasoning, improve problem solving and assist wi...th making critical decisions clearly. Think of any excellent leader who is skilled at bringing people together. Something many have in common is that they bring objectivity into situations that might be ambiguous or highly slanted in one person's favour. How can you practice judgement with open mindedness? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! #brisbane #characterbuilders #character #thebigcharacterchallenge #judgement #openminded

01.01.2022 This week we talked about the process of reflection using the traffic light metaphor. To start reflecting, we must first slow down and prepare to recall, then stop and reflect, then as we’re mindful and present, we are ready to go forward with our lives. To end the week, let’s look at the content of what we can reflect on. When reflecting, we can ask ourselves these three questions: 1. What behaviours/thoughts to continue with? 2. What to be cautious of? 3. And what behaviour...s need to stop? We hope this has been helpful for you. Let us know how your reflecting goes in the comments below! #reflection #reflect #trafficlight #yellow #green #red #skills #process #characterbuilding #characterbuilders #brisbane
