25.01.2022 ANNOUNCING: A re-elected Palaszczuk #Labor government will provide a $500,000 boost to out-of-school-hours care at Greenbank State School. This commitment will deliver expanded and improved facilities at the school's existing OSHC - 'Gumnut House'. It will mean more places and a better learning and play experience for the students. It will also support local families and working parents who depend upon this vital service.... I'm so thrilled we've been able to secure this commitment - but I'll be asking for your support this election to make sure we can deliver on it.

25.01.2022 This year’s severe weather season will be wetter than usual, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. Now is the time to think about having a plan for you and your family. https://www.getready.qld.gov.au/

21.01.2022 Happy World Teachers' Day to all of the amazing educators in the #Jordan Electorate! 2020 has certainly been a challenging year for our schools but our teachers have worked so hard - whether in person, or online they are making a difference in the lives of our children. And we want to support more people to pursue teaching as a profession, so if re-elected, #Labor will support 300 aspiring teachers with internships to complete their teaching qualification.

20.01.2022 There are now 35 New South Wales Local Government Areas (LGAs) prescribed as Hot Spots. This interactive map allows you to see specifically which areas of NSW are captured -https://bit.ly/3avblUH To minimise any risk of COVID-19 coming into Queensland from New South Wales, a hard border closure is being reinstated from today. ... This means that barricades and police will be back at the QLD and NSW borders checking everyone who wants to come into Queensland. Anyone who wishes to enter Queensland is required to apply for a border pass https://www.qld.gov.au/border-pass This hard border will not be lifted before 8 January 2021 which is 28 days since their last unlinked community case. The border situation will be assessed at that time.

18.01.2022 "Working with our Community" - it's been my motto since I became the Member - because I know the heart of our community is our people. 17.01.2022 My family and I just love living in the #Jordan electorate and we feel so lucky to be part of such an incredible community. When I’m asked what I enjoy the most about being the Member for Jordan, the answer is easy engaging with an amazing and diverse community, listening to them and helping to improve their lives in some way. When I ran in 2017, I did so because I could see some immediate and long-standing issues that needed to be addressed in our electorate and I’m pr...oud of the progress we are making. The parking issues at Springfield Central Station, the congestion hotspot at the Centenary / Logan Mwy interchange, public transport for Greenbank & Flagstone just some of the issues that are now being addressed. Why I’m running in 2020, is I want to help ‘future-proof’ our community whether it’s jobs & training, roads, schools, health and social services or public transport we need to plan ahead for our growing population and the next four years will be crucial. The challenges of Covid19 have made this even more important and maintaining our strong health response whilst progressing our economic recovery is front of mind for most of us. Too many people in our community are made a lot of promises it’s the inevitable nature of living in a growing electorate where slick marketing sells houses and land. I made a commitment before I ran for this role that I would never promise something unless I honestly knew I could deliver it for our community and I stand by that. I want to sincerely thank the community for working with me these past three years. I’m seeking your support today to continue that hard work for the future and a vision for our wonderful Jordan electorate.
14.01.2022 I know the future for public transport in Greater Flagstone will be rail which is why we need to begin planning now. Through our strong advocacy, our #Labor Government was able to secure joint funding of $20 million with the Australian Govt to progress the business case for the Beaudesert to Salisbury Passenger Rail Line. As one of the fastest-growing areas in Queensland, the business case is the all-important first-step towards bringing forward passenger rail to this regio...n. #delivering #publictransport #rail #funding See more

09.01.2022 Can I just say, today's Courier Mail cover made me pretty happy - something I don't often say about this newspaper In a society where reality TV stars and sports people usually get the majority of air-time, it is just fantastic to see our scientists and academics recognised in this way. The work they are doing to develop a #Covid19 Vaccine is critical to our future and it's just lovely to see their faces and to know their names.... #healthheroes #CovidVaccine #science #Hope

09.01.2022 Some people told me that delivering a bus service for #Greenbank was just too hard. It was certainly challenging - but not impossible! Delivering Translink Route 535 is just the beginning for public transport to this area and I know we can do ever more to improve access for our residents. But yesterday whilst in Greenbank, I got to wave to the commuters on the bus - something I couldn't do three years ago.... #delivering #transport #charis4jordan
08.01.2022 Fantastic start to Election Day 2020 at #Camira with the most amazing crew! Remember, vote #Labor - stick with Annastacia!
08.01.2022 As we reach the end of the State Election campaign, I want to give a MASSIVE shout-out to our amazing #Labor community volunteers and supporters. Despite all the signs you see, a campaign is not about one person - it's a team and I am so proud of the one we have. Genuine, committed, kind people who want the best for our community - I am grateful for their help, I am grateful for their encouragement and I am grateful for their friendship.... Thank you #TeamMullen
07.01.2022 Heading to the end of a busy and unique school year but Milton Dick MP and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to say our personal farewells to Mr Greg Horrigan, who will be retiring as Principal of Springfield Lakes State School. 03.01.2022 Ground breaking equipment named after ground breaking women! The massive tunnel boring machines used to dig under the city for the Cross River Rail Project have been named after two women: pioneering feminist Merle Thornton, and trailblazing engineer Else Shepherd AM. 03.01.2022 I don't have favourite constituents...but if I did, Mr Hall would be one of them. A lifelong resident of #Gailes and the nicest gentleman - we always have lovely chats about the local area. He wanted to make sure he had one of my 'how to vote' cards for the upcoming State Election - so I dropped one to his home and checked on how he is after a recent health scare. Our older residents in #Jordan have been incredibly resilient during #Covid19 - I know it's not been easy for many of them.

01.01.2022 And, that’s a wrap from the Jordan Electorate Office this year! We know that 2020 has been like no other and particularly for our community a global pandemic, not one but two #Covid19 outbreaks close to home, and severe hail storms in October. It’s easy to say it’s been a challenging year because it has been for so many in our community. But, I came across this image and it really struck a chord. ... Because what I see is kindness, friendship, making the best of what is a terrible situation. As your local Member, I have also seen this firsthand in our #Jordan community and I couldn’t be prouder friends helping friends, so many supporting our local businesses to continue, a kind word or a thank you when it was truly needed. People have worked so hard to follow the necessary restrictions, observe the rules and help to keep our communities safe. Some say we are just lucky but I think it’s been the goodwill of so many that has helped Queensland to lead the way in our health response. I do wish to thank my wonderful staff, Fran and Rose who have also worked so hard this year responding to whatever was thrown at them (including a State Election!). We will now be taking a break with my electorate office closed from midday today (24 Dec) and reopening on Monday 18 Jan 2021. We will monitor urgent emails but for any COVID-19 inquiries, please contact 134 268 and for all other State Government inquiries, please call 13 QGOV (13 74 68). Finally, from my family to yours my very best wishes to you for a wonderful and blessed Christmas. Charis x
