18.01.2022 Our first online SALA exhibition is nearing its end, but for the three competition winners of our Nature Art Competition we hope their passion for taking amazing nature shots is just beginning. This is what our guest community judge Brad Lanyon had to say about our first winner, Yo-Yi's entry (4-6 year old bracket): 'A lovely photograph that captures the serenity of a beautiful spot to enjoy nature. ... The symmetry of the image, with the water on either side of the jetty gives it a nice balance. The mirroring of the top and bottom of the image with the reflection of the trees on the water continues this symmetry. Yo-Yis framing of the lone figure at the end of the jetty in shadow makes them feel almost a part of that natural environment, enhancing the sense of balance and calm.' Well done Yo-Yi and we hope you enjoy your prize! To view the entire SALA exhibition make sure you visit https://www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au//exhibitions/nature-art

18.01.2022 'Grace by Gratitude,' is an art exhibition by the Nazareth Catholic College OSHC, and starting from today, it can be viewed at our Civic Library or online at www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au/artinthelibraries until Friday 13 November. 'The main idea of the art project is to feel and see grace in our lives more often if we look for it and notice it. Living a life of gratitude is waking up and feeling thankful for every day. By painting the pictures of 'Thank you' to different occupa...tional people of the community, our children are appreciating the different benefits and benefactors in their lives and building a sense of community.' Make sure you don't miss out on these wonderful messages!
17.01.2022 Here is the second winning entry of our Nature Art Photography Competition, taken by Charlotte (7-10 age bracket). Our guest judge Brad had a fair bit to say about this one! 'A beautiful photograph that uses the framing of the microscope lens to accentuate the subject matter. Very pleasing colour palette from the light violet of the flower petals through to the rich yellow of the pollen. Even the light hitting the battel of the lens adds to the image.... Excellent exposure of the subject throughout the entire image. Brilliant focus with sharpness on the individual pieces of pollen on the anthers in the foreground. The way the focus falls off from the petals in the top of the frame contrasts nicely to sharp focus of the pollen below. Lovely work. I would frame this and put it on my wall. Where can I buy a print?' If you want to see her winning entry and all the other photos and artwork of our SALA exhibition, check it out at https://www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au//exhibitions/nature-art

08.01.2022 Check out this incredible entry by Aiden, our last but not least winner of the 11-14 years of age bracket. Our guest judge Brad was blown away by this photo and had this to say about it: 'A fantastic photo capturing a Pelican in motion as it opens its beak. Brilliant framing incorporating the entire bird and its rippled reflection.... Technically a complicated photograph shooting on a telephoto lens with minimal light. Aiden has mastered the exposure, contrasting the bright white feathers of the Pelican with the dark murky water and riverbank around it. Focus is also sharp on the Pelican which would have been tricky at this time of day. The sharp focus on the bird is contrasted nicely with its reflection, that naturally breaks up and softens as the water ripples closer to camera. Aiden has also shown patience with his subject matter, waiting for the perfect moment when the Pelican has faced off nicely to camera. Excellent work.' Congratulations to all our winners of our Nature Art Photography. To see all the images and artwork in our online SALA artwork make sure you visit https://www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au//exhibitions/nature-art There's only a few days left before it's gone!

Day, we want everybody to consider what to say after that initial conversation. 2020 has been a difficult year for many Australians as well as the world, which means more people will need support and encouragement to get through it all.
