23.01.2022 Say hello to BorrowBox, our newest eBook and eAudiobook resource! Similar to Libby/Overdrive, you can expect a great collection of items for kids, teens and adults on a range of different genres. But what we're super excited about is BorrowBox actually features items that have been hand-picked by our selections officers and is exclusive to Charles Sturt Library members only. We currently have some great titles available, such as The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult, and Miles... Franklin Literary Award-winning book The Yield, by Tara June Winch. Browse now via your desktop https://library.bolindadigital.com/charlessturt or download the app on your Android or Apple device. To sign up you will need to log-in with your trusty library card number and PIN. Please be aware if you download the app, you will have to search for the City of Charles Sturt Library Service in the Library field first then add your library membership details.
18.01.2022 Did you know that asteroids pass us by all the time with little to no threat of impact? In fact there are only a handful of asteroids in orbit that are considered a possible risk to Earth (many years in the future) and NASA are keeping a close eye on them. The arrival of this weekend's asteroid is considered a 'near miss', but it is in fact over 11.2 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon, which is over 4.3 million kilometres away. Not so close after all! Are you interested in space or want to learn more about asteroids? If you're a kid or an adult, check out our catalogue here for some great titles: https://bit.ly/CSLSpace
18.01.2022 Give the gift of reading and bring joy to a child's life this Christmas Now that we are back open, we are currently collecting book donations for Uniting SA across all our libraries and community centres until Wednesday 9 December. Help us inspire a love of reading in children who may not have books at home.
17.01.2022 Everyone loves a great music streaming service like Spotify, but we guarantee you that you'll love Freegal just as much, and not only because it's free and without ads! Freegal has a great collection with 15 million songs and counting. It also features over 40,000 music videos if you're in the mood to watch as well as listen. It's available through your internet browser or as an app on your phone or tablet, and all you need to do is log-in by searching for City of Charles Sturt Library, then adding your (you guessed it) library card number and PIN. Visit https://www.freegalmusic.com/home or search for Freegal on your app store to give it a go.
16.01.2022 We know the weeks leading up to and falling just after Christmas can get a bit crazy, so from now until the end of the year the items you borrow and renew will be extended an extra two weeks. Along with last week's extension of all your current loans until 6 January 2021 (and yes DVDs are included in this), consider these as two early Christmas presents from your local library. Merry Christmas!
16.01.2022 Join us this summer from Tuesday 1 December to Sunday 31 January for not one but two different reading challenges - one for kids aged 5-14 years and another for the adults aged 15 and over. How do you enter, you ask? Simply register online at charlessturt.beanstack.org to get started and either record how many minutes you read (kids) or how many books you read (adults). There's plenty of chances to win some special prizes including $30 mystery prizes for the kids and $50 QBD vouchers for the adults!
