23.01.2022 PLANS FOR 2019. Last weekend I had my last class at Taste Budds Cooking Studio great bunch of ladies & such wonderful results. Ill be taking a little break from classes & hope to return towards the end of the year - I LOVE these classes! It makes me so happy to see others produce something they never thought they could, & push themselves out of their comfort zone. So why am I not teaching this year? ... Ive spoken to so many other decorators & small business owners recently & time spent with family does get put on the back burner when you run a small business. "Work will always be there, but my babies wont always be this small." Speaking of babies. .. we have baby #2 due early April! I was back at work within 12 weeks of Violet being born and regretted it. I just wanted to stay home and soak up all the goodness that is a newborn baby instead of carting around wedding cakes and writing quotes. I wont be making that mistake again this time. Thank you to all my customers, suppliers and those Ive met through all our classes last year, your support has allowed me to do what I love, Ill see you again soon! Ill be holding demos at Kitchen Warehouse from 2nd Feb -16th March (more info later) Till then Id love any advice on handling a newborn & a toddler! Anyone figured out how to bottle sleep yet!!?

18.01.2022 I avoid Mother's Day. I usually hibernate until the next day and have a cry. I lost my mum almost 10 years ago, just a few months before my 30th Birthday, I was on a plane heading to the UK for a wedding. This is shared from my personal page, but I hope it speaks to at least one person today ... To all mums. New mums, old mums, almost mums, mums here and those heaven side, Happy Mother's Day. I'm dropping 6 life lessons I've learnt from my mum that speak to me more now than ever since becoming one myself. 1) Go on that holiday. After working full time for years, my mum took a well earned holiday, cashed in her super and went on a vacay pilgrimage with her friends all across Europe. Something she always wanted to do, and maybe she knew she wouldnt be able to later in life. 2) Time for yourself. Every mothers day for years, Dad and I would go to watch the car racing at Barbagallo. Mum would enjoy her obligatory bfast in bed, card, flowers and scribble from me, then say shed miss us, 'but its only once a year!' I always felt a little bad that I got to hang out with dad on her special day and that shed get bored without us. Well played Mum, well played! I finally get it now. 3) Create magic. All my fondest memories with mum were when I was little. Lots of driving in the car, gardening, going to the park etc. I remember her telling me the little floaty things in the air in her car were fairies. How magical, I used to think on my way to school. It was dust. Tissue dust. Ive tried this on Violet it works! 4) Panic only when necessary. I was learning to drive a manual VW beetle. Hay Street, peak hour and I was stopped at the traffic lights on the corner of Hay and Thomas St, what seemed like the biggest freakin hill in all of Perth. I started to roll back when the light turned green, Mum remained calm I expected shouting, panic, foot pumping or at least her pulling the handbrake and praying to Jesus. But instead she said Try again slowly and all was well. I remember this almost daily. 5) You can be strict and still loving. Asian tiger mum anyone!? I had such a wonderful childhood and even as the bad cop, mum got results. She taught me how to be money savvy, self sufficient and pushed me to purchase my first home at 23, travel on my own and didnt disown me when I chose a trade over Uni. Though we bumped heads constantly, this was invaluable life advice Traits I look forward to pass on to her grandchildren. 6) You cant please everyone. Not everyone is going to like you, understand you or support you and your decisions, even family. Its ok. These are not your people. Keep the good ones close, cut the rest out. So many things changed after I lost mum. This piece of advice has helped me the most.

10.01.2022 Miss Violet turned 3 over the weekend. . Three!! She had a little get together with a few friends, I made a 4 layer chocolate zucchini cake ( I needed to feel less guilty about all the chocolate /party food that the kids were going to binge on!) Violets cake brief was "chocolate cake covered in chocolate butter" ... I added handmade accessories to Schleich animals for the toppers - I needed a creative outlet while on break from cake orders, and these were ridiculously fun to make and Id happily make more if anyone wants one. I also hand painted her bday present, but more on that later. Swipe to see the bday girl and baby Henry. Xx
