25.01.2022 We celebrated Melbourne’s traditional 'Oaks Day' in style with a morning of flower arranging, their magnificent arrangements where then displayed on the dining room tables as they enjoyed an afternoon tea of caviar and tea. What a lovely day for the ladies.

25.01.2022 Every year since McKenzie’s first home opened in 2000, Mary-Ann McKenzie along with family members and friends help decorate most of our McKenzie Christmas trees. This years festive season looks a little different around our homes. Due to travel restrictions, Mary-Ann and daughter, Casey could only continue on the tradition for our 6 Victorian homes. Our Queensland and New South Wales homes would not miss out completely though. They were given the ‘secret manual’ on how to de...corate their trees the McKenzie way, which as you can see from the photos below, is pretty amazing. Mary-Ann says "Christmas time is my favourite time of the year, and I really enjoy being able to spread the Christmas cheer in our homes". We hope to see the ‘McKenzie Elves’ back in our homes next year, continuing on this special family tradition.

21.01.2022 Normally our residents have beautiful nutritious home cooked meals made by our wonderful chef however when Josefa told us she was craving a McDonald's fillet-o-fish burger, how could we deny her. At 101 years old she knows what she wants and we all like to be a little naughty every now and then.

20.01.2022 Our community elders have seen many things throughout their lives, it is a privilege when they share these memories and stories with us. Today, Remembrance Day 2020, Rosebrook resident Isabel wanted to share with us her time in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F).

17.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more

07.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

05.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.
