25.01.2022 With the absence of quality sleep our life in all aspects only gets harder and shorter. - Simple tips to improve your sleep - Expose yourself to early morning sunlight.... Take time throughout the day to practice stillness and thought processing. Switch all electronic devices to filter out blue light 4 hours prior to bed. Avoid electronic devices 1-2 hours before bed. Use candles and soft dimmed lamps. Have a warm bath/Shower before bed. Have a warm/cold shower if feeling highly stressed. Journal and write your thoughts down on paper performing a brain dump. Play sleep music prior to bed. Meditate before bed. - When thoughts arise before sleep or during the night, meditation will improve your ability to allow thoughts to pass without adding further meaning to them. - People commonly keep themselves up to to racing thoughts and noisy heads. - With meditation your ability to notice thoughts and allow them to simply pass without creating a long story that drags on for hours and hours is another skill that will certainly improve your sleep. 23.01.2022 ArE yOu ReAdY fOr SuMmEr?? - Summer is that time of the year when everyone gets excited for the social gatherings, weather and holidays. - But for many (many many) it’s a time of feeling a deep anxiety and low self worth due to not feeling enough.... - It’s when the state of our physical bodies is brought to further attention Omg I’m not in good enough shape. - It’s when our relationship with food is highly tested Omg all these social events going to be eating so much shit this isn’t good. - It’s when we begin to try on our summer clothes again Omg these clothes don’t fit like they used to. - What happens when people start feeling anxious and experiencing low self esteem? 22.01.2022 This is Alex and he’s 8 years old. My mate who’s apart of my band. - We both noticed we were getting thirsty while jamming on this cracker day today. - So he asked me You want a Icey pole? A Zuper Duper?.... - I was like Man I haven’t had one of those since I was like a kid... fuken oath I’ll have one. (Probably shouldn’t have sworn but whatever he’s a kid he’s going to hear it at some point). - It was awesome sharing that moment with him, it really brought me back to my childhood of having icey poles in the hot Aussie weather with friends and family. - At the moment I think people are overly demonising foods and even though the intention is good in their mind to draw themselves away from sugar or bad foods. - All it’s doing is creating a negative relationship with food and taking away all the enjoyment out of it. - Yes there’s a lot of high calorie foods around us. I agree their shouldn’t be as much as there is in our faces. But while we work on the food corporations selling it to us less, we need to work on ourselves and be responsible at the same time. - When you enjoy it guilt free you’re more likely to be content with what you’ve eaten and move on with it being apart of a balanced diet. - But when you restrict those foods completely, and use language like THATS GOT SUGAR THATS BAD. - That leads to craving, which leads to binging.. because you say things like I haven’t eaten them all week I’ve been good or I should eat as much as I can now because I won’t be able to eat it in a long time. - Let’s teach our kids and ourselves good language around creating a positive relationship with food. - Because you can be 100% healthy and function well while enjoying some things you enjoy from time to time GUILT FREE. - #ChannelEarth See more

She was doing excessive amounts of cardio and under eating meaning that her - Energy levels were very low... Wasn’t building much muscle Wasn’t eating foods she enjoyed Developed a negative relationship with food - She was confused where to go next after losing the weight.. 14.01.2022 Going inside is just as important as working on the outside. - Outside work will improve your state. Therefore in many cases making them stronger and calmer to be able to go and work on the inside. - Or, in many cases. People go straight on the inside once they’ve reached their absolute lowest points.... - Some people never go inside.. which is why you get people who look ‘happy & successful’ but hey.. clearly are not. - I see both important in conjunction. 14.01.2022 A one size fits all approach to your health & fitness? It’s a yeah nah from me.. - And yes.. this post is directed to the hordes of people doing home HIIT workouts, F45, generic training/meal plans and fad diets. - Firstly: It’s amazing that you’ve taken action toward your health & fitness, let’s just sus out whether the methodology you’re using will suit you for the long term..... - A one size fits all approach is like chucking a bunch of random people into the same job and expecting them all to last and enjoy working there coz This will make you all money . - Everyone is at a different level. Not just with their fitness level and diet.. but with their overall HABITS. - Generic methodologies will jam pack a whole bunch of things for you to do at once. - A customised approach will have you gradually building habits in all areas of sleep, stress, nutrition and training. This approach pays respect to how you will gradually change over time forming a lifestyle that suits you. - This isn’t to say that your ENTIRE plan needs to be 100% customised. That’s just another extreme of the spectrum. - You can totally implement generic components into your training plan like Yoga, Group classes, sports into your plan along with your step target & training program. That works sweet as and keeps you doing things you enjoy. - And as for the fad diets.. f*ck me don’t get me started. 12.01.2022 PORTION CONTROL - One thing I notice whenever people are trying to lose weight is the ridiculously small meals they think they need to have for the meal to be healthy. - Meal size does not depict calorie density... - What that means is that just because food quantity is bigger then something else it doesn’t mean it’s got more calories. - Example: Nut bars, smoothies, sweets, oils etc can be small in amounts but they are higher in calories compared to fruits, vegetables and lean meats which can have a larger serving size. - When you’re trying to lose weight, regulating your appetite is important. It prevents cravings, low energy levels, snacking and eating things you didn’t plan on eating. - Filling up your plate with a generous amount of whole foods will keep you feeling fuller for longer for the amount of calories is in it. - So it’s wise to enjoy more food and not feel bad because there’s a lot of food on your plate (especially if it’s all quality stuff!) - My advice for meal portions - Half a plate of fibrous vegtebalez Quarter plate of a protein source Quarter plate of a carb source - Men have a large dinner plate size. Women have a smaller dinner plate size. - A good start is for those portions to consist of 70-80% of your meals. - You’ll feel fuller, more energised, not as restricted, less snacky and in a great position to start modifying your diet to keep you progressing. - Any further questions? 12.01.2022 Charles all you must eat is healthy vegetables I bet you never eat shit I couldn’t eat the way you do it’s way too healthy I love my pizza You’re a PT you shouldn’t be eating that I wish I was as motivated as you to eat healthy ... - All of the above comments state that a person has a negative relationship with food. - It’s like being in a toxic relationship with a person only it’s with you and one of the most enjoyable things on the planet. FOOD! - When you associate foods with good and bad you are more likely to trigger guilt immediately after consuming something like pizza. - When the guilt takes away the pleasure, you aren’t as content with what you’ve eaten so you crave it more. - When you crave it more you create an even worse relationship with food to deter you away from it further, or you over eat on it which activates more guilt.. (this cycle continues). - Food is food. They all have a certain amount of calories and nutrients in them. Some keep you fuller for longer. Some hit the reward centres of your brain harder. - You can have them all, life is meant to be enjoyed. And food is such an important part of enjoying life. - Here’s the secret. It’s all about being responsible and managing your food. (No way right?!) - Once you learn how to interstate this into your life. Food won’t be your best friend and worst enemy. I’m an instagram celebrity omg look at me. - But srsly it was an amazing feeling knowing that the message I’m pushing is actually being listened to. - Before I started posting. I used to have a negative relationship with social media. ... - It’s disconnecting people It’s creating unfair social comparisons It’s taking people away from Mother Nature Just another way for people to get a hit of dopamine numbing their unresolved issues - They were all limiting beliefs. I knew if I wanted to reach and help more people I needed to start making silly videos of me wearing a wig (it was the only way) . - In honesty I knew I couldn’t control how many people had their heads buried in their phones. I can’t do this right now I just can’t sleep earlier I can’t get a good nights sleep I can’t say no to my friends - The more you notice it, the more self aware and mindful you become. - When you notice that you’re saying it to others or to yourself in your own head. - Do yourself a favour and create some space. 10.01.2022 Amazing changes from my client. - Along with the obvious physical changes, the biggest transformation I can see is the shift in his normal day to day state. - His body is screaming higher confidence and energy just by how he’s holding himself now compared to before.... - A persons posture is a lot more than just what muscles are tight and weak. It also displays a persons deep emotional state. - If an individual is tired, fatigued, drained and holding onto a lot of stress. 07.01.2022 Do you feel unproductive when you try and perform your hobbies? - I never thought when I became a PT that suggesting my clients perform hobbies will be an important part of them reaching their goals. - Here’s why ... - Client is over worked. Client is finding it hard to sleep well. Clients stress is a overflowing. Client is emotionally eating. Client is struggling to reach their goals. - We can identify here in this so common situation that I’ve come across thousands of times. - That the client is spending a lot of time stressing and not enough time unwinding. - What do we do? Tell the client to chill? Relax? Take some magnesium to sleep? - How about suggesting something that puts them in the moment. - Music, Art, Dance, Singing, Hiking, Sports, yoga, surfing.. (endless options here). - Where the fuck did all the hobbies go straight out? - You ask someone what their hobby is now they say shopping? Wtf kind of hobby is that. - You know why? Because everyone thinks hobbies are a waste of time. - The value of putting ourselves in the moment is lowering with things that take abit more effort compared to mindless mind numbing social media scrolling, eating food or drinking alcohol. - If you don’t our value on how important that stimulated activity of a hobby is for your mental health. - Then it won’t be long until you’re struggling to manage what’s going on in your head and how it’s impacting your goals. - #ChannelEarth See more

06.01.2022 We often hear the word sacrifice in the fitness industry. - Meaning - To give up (something valued) for the sake of other considerations.... - I think if majority of people think they need to give up something they value they will be deterred to even start. - A lot of fat loss methods do create a complete sacrifice. This is often unsustainable and the only people who can often sustain them develop eating disorders. - You don’t need to SACRIFICE your diet to get results you need to MANAGE your diet to get results. - Notice how much better that word makes you feel. 03.01.2022 Check out the progress on Elvis - After a few months he has packed on a lot of muscle, quicker, more agile and co-ordinated. - Over the past few months he’s made a lot of ‘mistakes’.... - He’s fallen, ran in the wrong direction, jumped and not reached his target many times. - Now let’s compare this to fitness shall we, what would some humans do in this situation? - Oh I missed my target.. no point to try anymore (perfectionist). - Oh this other dog Dre is a lot faster and co-ordinated than me it’s not fair.(Comparison). - I shouldn’t play.. there’s no point I’ll never be that good (Fear of failure). - Im not motivated and positive enough to play (even though play will make me feel more positive) so no point I’ll do it next week. How do you want to feel, look, perform and move through life? - Identify what areas you’re struggling with. It could be your diet, training, recovery, mindset, relationship with food etc.... - If you’re actually doing this right now, congratulations, you’re Fucken amazing. You’re actually using social media to benefit you. - Now! You have directed a level of focus toward what you want and what needs to change to help you get to where you want to be! - Your brain uses up more energy than any other organ in your body! So wherever your focus goes energy flows. - Have you ever thought about something, then almost instantly you saw it! (That’s because you were focusing on it, so you just noticed it more in reality ) - This is the same with changing your life. 01.01.2022 Sleep deprivation is a vicious cycle. - Sleep increases stress Stress decreases sleep quality & duration ... (Cycle continues) - Sleep decreases energy levels (Human consumes caffeinated stimulants) Stimulants increase alterness and sympathetic activation for up-to 12hrs post consumption. Sleep quality & duration decreases (Cycle continues) - Some people stay in this cycle for years to the point where it becomes normal for them and they develop beliefs around it I’m good for just 6 hrs sleep I don’t need to sleep much. - Really what they don’t realise is they are in a physical & mental state that’s running at lower quality and capacity compared to if they provided themselves further sleep. - Not to mention increasing the risk of an array of diseases and illnesses.. setting themselves up for an earlier death. - Once you are running at a higher quality and capacity because you’re allowing one aspect of your health to be taken care of.
