25.01.2022 Have you heard the news?? Just in case you haven't...it's that parkruns within SA are "GO" for this Saturday 5th December We ask that you check in when you arrive Saturday using the QR code we will have on display at various spots around the start line. A copy is attached so you know what to look for. You can also use it to check in from the car as you arrive on the day. ... It's just a matter of either using the mySA GOV app and scanning the code, or if you point the camera of your smartphone at the code it should open a website link for you to type in your name and phone number. Our volunteers can also help you on Saturday if you are unsure Will see you this Saturday!

21.01.2022 Hey Charleston parkrun Well there’s no new news from parkrun HQ as yet as you might have seen in the last email, however our beloved Woodside Providore is reopening this Tuesday and I for one can’t wait to call in! How are you all going? Still getting out for a parkrun whilst being good citizens? Post a photo below of what you have been up to so we can all share this long wait to parkrun returning

19.01.2022 Thanks Michelle Zalupka, the messages here are just right! Hello everyone, I just want to do a little parkrun community announcement post. The QR codes are slowly popping up for EACH INDIVIDUAL parkrun. Each parkrun will have ATLEAST one printed out and scattered around the start area.... Please, if you have some time, if you have a local parkrun that you go to regularly, or if you know which one you are going to this (and subsequent) weekends, have the code printed out and scan before you get out of the car on Saturday morning. It will just save you one job when you arrive, and you can leave your phone in your car. If there is more than one person in the car, you can scan someone elses phone for the code, and they scan yours. If you are alone, you will need a print out of the code to scan (in your car) Some of you may get some practise using the codes popping up at cafes/pharmacies/hotels, if you are out and about this week. On Saturday - PLEASE DON'T ... Make a fuss if yours isn't working. There will be time after the event to come up and ask someone if they might be able to help for next time. Do it after. PLEASE DON'T ... Complain to the volunteers, it isn't their app, it isn't their code, they are there to help parkrun run smoothly, and this is just an extra level of safety that has been added by the Health Authorities. They are there to help with parkrun. PLEASE REMEMBER ... We are all human, and not all of us are phone technicians, app creators, health officials or law makers in our spare time. I am there on Saturday to enjoy my first parkrun as a volunteer, please don't be that person that puts others off from volunteering in the future. Give it a month, and it will all run much smoother than it will this Saturday, and we can all get on with it. AND REMEMBER - DO NOT FORGET YOUR BARCODE !! This is separate to the QR code. If you forget your barcode, SA Health will know you've been there, but that will do nothing to your parkrun tally, nor give you a time. Can't wait to see you all enjoying parkrun again on the socials

18.01.2022 Hi Charleston I realise everyone is pretty excited about November 21 but we haven’t heard back from Adelaide Hills Council yet with proper permission to resume... keep checking back to the page while we wait to hear! 17.01.2022 SA Police understand that there are many questions surrounding the new COVID-19 QR Code, the App and how the data is stored. For the community. The COVID...-Safe Check-in has been added to the free mySAGOVapp which can be downloaded from the Google Play or the App Store. If you already have the app make sure it is updated so that you can access the COVID-Safe Check-in function. You do not need a South Australia drivers licence to use the app. Anyone who attends a Defined Public Activity must sign in (see the Public Activities Direction, page 3 for the list of activities). If the system is not working or you don’t have the required technology you must notify the venue operator and provide your details (either on paper or electronically) which must be kept by the venue. But why do I need to do this? The QR code collects basic data and securely stores it for 28 days, only to be accessed by SA Health to quickly control the spread of COVID-19 if there is possible community transmission. Because really who remembers where they went two weeks ago on a Tuesday night a 6.28pm? This takes the guess work out of it, you don’t need to check your credit card history or google maps, the app will record this information for you once you check in. What details do I need to supply?- Don’t worry once you scan the QR Code it doesn’t ask for your mother’s maiden name, where you went to school or your favourite food just like those common password security questions. All the QR Code securely collects is your name, phone number and the name of the business/venue you have attended. But why should I use the app and not the web browser?- The app is more secure and you only have to put your details in once. If you scan the QR Code with your camera you will be sent to a web browser and will have to type in your details every time. Remember this app is also the app where you can securely keep a digital copy of your driver’s licence and registration, so if it is good enough for that it is good enough to record where you had your morning coffee. What about the security of my data- For those of you who ‘would rather complete the paper form’.. to quote our State Coordinator and Commissioner of Police, ‘I know I’d prefer to be scanning a QR Code and having my data held centrally in an encrypted database rather than pieces of paper floating around businesses.’ How true this is, the paper forms also take longer for SA Health collect and control the spread of COVID-19. The very limited data that is collected is just like checking in on Facebook or uploading your latest selfie to Instagram with your location settings on. but is more secure, is deleted after 28 days and is only accessed for contact tracing by SA Health. 02.01.2022 So,by now,you would all be aware that parkrun is starting up again soon in South Australia. What you might not know is that there are a lot of jobs to be done before we can start up again at Charleston. Please be patient and understanding with us we’re going to do our best to deliver a safe and positive environment for our parkrun. Meanwhile please think about volunteering , we’re going to need a few more each week going forward, and contact us via messenger or email so we can be ready to go when everything is sorted :)
