25.01.2022 We love our fathers! Some are on-shift and working today, and some are on-call, prepared to help their community with just a moment's notice. For some of us, our fathers have sadly passed, and we keep them in our thoughts today. Happy Father's Day from all of us at Fire and Rescue NSW.
25.01.2022 A crew from Fire and Rescue Wyoming were down south of Nowra helping with the bushfires yesterday when they got into this very hot situation. Stay safe out there everyone. The fire season is far from over.
24.01.2022 Two of our firefighters have been injured at a bushfire on the north coast today, when a tree fell across their truck. Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Paul Bax...ter said: On Sunday 10 November, Fire and Rescue NSW crews from the Nambucca Heads area were in attendance at a bushfire on Kian road from 10:30am. At around 3:14pm, a falling tree impacted one of our Fire and Rescue trucks. One firefighter was partially outside the truck when the tree fell, causing injuries to her head and neck. The impact of the tree falling on the roof also caused head injuries to another firefighter inside the truck. Both firefighters were attended to by NSW Ambulance paramedics and have been transferred to hospital in a stable condition. Fire and Rescue NSW remains updated on their recovery.
21.01.2022 Did you know ...... That there are primarily two fire services within the state of NSW. They are :- Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service... Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) :- 6800 paid professional firefighters, 465 administrative staff and 5700 community fire units (volunteers) responsible for firefighting, rescue and Hazmat services in the major cities, metropolitan areas and towns across NSW Commissioner (FRNSW) Paul Baxter QSO NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) :- 72491 volunteer members and 911 paid staff being the primary agency for responding to bushfires within the state of NSW The NSW Rural Fire Service is the worlds largest volunteer fire service, although this member figure includes inactive volunteer firefighters and all support staff. Commissioner (NSWRFS) Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM NSW Rural Fire Service is primarily a rural fire service whilst Fire and Rescue NSW is primarily an urban fire service with additional responsibilities in rescue and hazmat. The two services complement each other by meeting community needs. Each service has its own particular skills and each area of the state can be best served by providing the resources appropriate to the particular needs of that area. ****Figures were accurate at time of publishing, source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_and_Rescue_NSW en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_South_Wales_Rural_Fire_Service

08.01.2022 Have you seen these signs and wondered what they are? SWS stands for Static Water Supply and identifies water sources such as swimming pools or dams. Firefighters will utilize these water sources as an alternate means to fight fires and protect your property. ... If you have a water source on your property and don’t have a SWS sign, please contact your local Fire Station (FRNSW or RFS) to arrange one free of charge. @frnswmacarthurms3

04.01.2022 Tuesday will be a dangerous day! Based on the latest forecast, there is likely to be widespread Severe and Extreme fire danger. This is expected to stretch fr...om the Queensland border to the south coast, and across the Central West. There is already extensive fire activity across the north coast and northern NSW areas. These fires won’t be contained in time. Under these conditions, these fires will spread quickly and will threaten homes and lives. These conditions will be as bad, if not worse, than those experienced on Friday as they will be across a much broader area including large population centres like Sydney. There are significant resources committed to fires and they are limited. If you are threatened by fire, you may not get help. What can you do?
