24.01.2022 Over the last two terms our school has run an EAL/D program that focused on students that had came to our school from another country and had little or no English . This was run by Senior Teachers- Jo Springall and Carly Watson and assisted by Maria Taylor . We used Jo and Maria’s vast knowledge and expertise in Oral language programs to ensure students extended on their skills each week , in a fun and enjoyable way. The students have learnt songs , read stories, painted, cr...eated , conducted experiments and cooked. Jill Belford has also been teaching our EALD students and using her expertise to support them during class time and with Mrs Watson, who will sadly be leaving at the end of the term. We celebrated the achievements of these students on Thursday 19th of November, who have persisted with their ‘new’ language .They should be very proud of the improvement they have made in their oral and writing skills. Well done EAL/D students, colleagues and parents !

21.01.2022 Day 3 - Year 5 Camp @ North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre The day began with a beach walk and then we hit the bay for our snorkelling adventures. We spent most of the day on the water snorkelling over Monkey Reef and the reef at Big Peninsular. While we were out on the bay, we visited Wreck Beach and collected marine debris and waste to be sorted tomorrow. Wreck Beach was once considered one of Australia’s best beaches. We saw some interesting marine creatures, trawled for plankton to investigate under the microscopes, wrote postcards to ourselves about our experiences and checked our Ghost Crab traps from our Day 2 study.
