23.01.2022 A while ago I posted an image of a cast piece of foliage that I I thought would look amazing when cast. I didn't actually know what it was, until now. I found the glorious shrub next to my reservoir where I picked the original botanical, bursting with yellow puffs of goodness. It is, to my surprise, a species of Wattle. 'Gold Dust' Wattle to be exact. I really love that, it fits in perfectly as an extension to my wattle series and with some more designing, these 2 wreaths... will eventually be brooches. 19.01.2022 Goodmorning and Happy New Year all!! My aim this year is to have a manageable 'to do' list so the 'to do's' get 'done'! Owning your own business and running it from home has its ups and downs. It's flexible but it's always there. With a young family and an external partime job that I love, I am extremely grateful for the flexibility of my arts practise. I can rearrange things to suit circumstances that arise and as we all know the changes that we have all faced over the pa...st year. After a much needed break with the family I realised how exhausted I was from the year that was 2020. I have listened to my body and mind and have loved not having a routine, spent some quality time with my family and most of all just 'be'. In less then a week it's the end of the school summer holidays that means, school drop offs and pick ups, back to packing lunches, after school activities and routine. I'm so looking forward to getting back to my bench routine between the hours of 9.30am - 2.30pm. I had all these plans to be organised and focussed on exactly what I was going to tackle first, but I get too excited when I see all the pieces 'in progress' on my bench and then the cyclone of activity and creativity begins. I get lost in it all and forget what I was doing in the first place. Hands up all those creatives who hear me!! This year I hope to reach a wider audience by adding a few stockists to my list, an exhibition or two, perhaps a designer market and to launch my online shop. The 'to do' list sometimes gets too big it becomes overwhelming. 17.01.2022 Been a bit quiet of late. Making, making, making. Prepping Christmas stock, that's right folks I said the C word! Made a fresh batch of Banksia hooks and working on a necklace to match today. These past few weeks I have felt like a machine just plugging away at stuff, with no end in sight. I do enjoy it but my hands are shredded. Then all of a sudden the finishing process happens and I realised I have made over 40 pieces! Lots of Banksia, Wattle and Hakea inspired pieces. A few from my Cycle range and twig range. With the idea of scaling down my pieces to 3 or 4 ranges just to keep things consistent, I perhaps may have designed a few new pieces too. I just can't help myself. Now the mammoth task of photographing everything!

09.01.2022 Banksia neckpiece. This gorgeous piece has 6 little hand cut and hammered tiny little Banksia beaks. Inspiration from, you guessed it, the Banksia seed pod. This particular design pictured comes with 5 recycled sterling silver pods and 1 golden brass pod, for that little bit of difference. The pods have been oxidised and rubbed back to reveal the hammer texture. There are 2 others in this collection of neckpieces. All polished sterling silver on silk cord and bimetal variat...ion in copper and silver. Very lightweight and the longline makes them quite an elegent piece to wear. 04.01.2022 'Frosty Eucalyptus Gum hooks' in recycled sterling silver. Joining my Banksia and Wattle pieces in the cabinet @naomischwartzjewellerydesign in an exhibition titled 'Emerge' for SALA 2020. I love all the different shapes and sizes of Gum leaves, the textures, colours and patterning can differ extremely depending on the age of leaf. They are all beautiful and provide such a rich source of inspiration in my practise. It's a good thing I have at least 5 different varieties of ...Eucalyptus on the property! Trying to figure out how to texture the surface came to me as I was cleaning my bench. I had been cutting titanium, so I had quite a few broken saw blades and scraps of sandpaper. So I gave it a press through my trusty rolling mill and the 'frosty texture' was born. Running my studio from home in this time was a real eye opener for me. Continuing to do what I love has helped immensely in this change we are all a part of. Refelecting on time spent outdoors in my own backyard in natur...e when time seemed to stand still and appreciating the 'here and now, being in the present'.
