Some of us work seasonally, most of us have barely any structured work hours. Our industry has fought and become so strong, we’ve come so far! We now live in a world so dependant on social media.. Where on earth would we be without our creatives?! Its so exciting to see that melbourne is finally ...opening it doors and easing restrictions this week. Victorians have shown true resilience and patience during these extremely tough times. However, following on from our friends in the skin industry (shout out to @hudskinandbody for making noise and prompting me to follow your lead) we who provide makeup services, it is still truly devastating, mind blowing and frustrating. You can go to a pub You can go to a gym You can visit a restaurant You can go to the dentist You can get injectables ... Basically, majority of industry’s can begin to open except our highly regulated industry where infection control is apart of our day to day NORMAL routine. 20 patrons can be in the same space without wearing a mask, but two people in a room, the professional having layered protection and high industry hygiene protocols in place can’t even get an indication for an opening date?! Even at 0.2 average cases in regional Victoria, this isn’t enough for us to open? Covid testers safely test 1000s of Victorian’s without a single transmission by wearing a mask and shield. And we too, can create a safe environment for our clients by wearing the same protection so they don’t have too. We need our industry reopened immediately to full capacity and with very comprehensive Covid safe plans and education. We too welcome any DHHS directives to make this happen. We are Covid safe and ready. At the bare minimum we at least need a date to work towards. It’s unlawful to deprive us of earning an income and we will continue to fight.
