19.01.2022 Thursday 4th June let the craziness begin! Shake off the isolation blues, we are back baby! New classes, new packages, exciting new opportunities to get healthy... and have fun! We’re staffed from 6am - 10am on Thursday. Our new regular opening hours will be available soon. To comply with our Covid Safe Plan, we ask that all members abide by the following: No towel = No workout Social distancing - remain 1.5m apart Members to clean down machines before and after use Sanitize hands upon entry and exit of the gym If unwell or showing flu like symptoms, please do not attend Maximum of 20 people in the gym at any time - please, no children in the gym Please limit workouts to 1 hour maximum Please bring a water bottle as our water bubbler is out of action Members must sign in and out using the sign in sheet Members are encouraged to download and use the Covid-Safe App The gym will be regularly cleaned and cameras will monitor member activity to ensure compliance All membership will reactivate tomorrow unless you have contacted us to cancel. 14.01.2022 According to BMI. That is. Now for a lot of (gen pop) people BMI is fairly accurate considering it only has your weight, height and gender. BUT for a lo...t of people including myself it’s not the best place to go for a measurement on my composition. Whether I’m lean enough that I have veins showing on my quads OR whether I’m festively plump +6kg heavier from Christmas I am alway classified overweight according to BMI. YOUR BOY IS DENSE. Let. Man. Live. Here’s the issue. You’re all fucking adults. Most of you have important jobs, bring up kids and drive on the roads. YET, you’re here telling me you needed your BMI to determine if you needed to lose fat?! As human beings I really hope we can make that assumption ourselves. Obese people know they’re obese, trust me on that. The reason BMI is Didier Dogshit is because it unfortunately points the overweight finger at people who aren’t overweight. I’m packing a bit more cushin’ for the pushin’ than MOST PT’s but that doesn’t make me overweight by default. Meat on the bones is important, also a social life n’ that. You’d be fuming if you went to all you could eat ribs and just got a plate of bones. *cough fitness industry* Basically, if your BMI (or the moron calculating it) comes to a conclusion you’re not sure about. Go for a second opinion, the mirror or a friend should be absolutely fine. YOU ARE BETTER THAN BEING QUANTIFIED BY HEIGHT x WEIGHT. World will catch on soon, I hope. James See more

The decision h...as been made to make this a free community event. It's a chance to get out and get active while having fun with our kids. As parents, we are so busy adulting that we forget to have fun and sometimes that's all our kids want is to have fun with us. 06.01.2022 I like celebrating woman's bodies for what they can do rather than how they match up against whatever ideal they are supposed to look like. Appreciating physica...l feats of strength rather than purely aesthetics is such a healthy, and long overdue, approach. Admiring each other for how many plates are on the bar in the squat rack or how many overhand wide grip chin ups you can do seems pretty cool. But!!!! I still an issue when I see a lot of the memes on Facebook. 99% of the memes have competitive figure girls (who look AMAZING) and yes they may be strong and/or fit. But in doing so we’ve simply replaced one old aesthetic ideal of skinny with another of lean and muscular, and come up with a new reason to obsess over instead of celebrate our bodies. I have ruminated over this and I have to ask the question if for example ‘strong is the new skinny’ then why is the meme not on a picture of Beccy Swanson (strongest girl in the world and my personal hero)?? I mean I know why.because she is a big girl and most women would not aspire to look like her. Sooooo, I’m less than impressed that we’ve simply replaced skinny with another ideal. I think we missed the point! So let me start this Monday morning by saying this: Skinny/whippet lean is okay. Some women naturally have low body fat and little muscle mass (while doing little cardio, eating plenty, doing cartwheels, and dancing to their heart’s content). Some of these women are also pretty amazing athletes. Chubby is okay. Just because someone doesn’t have a rippling six-pack doesn’t make her unhealthy or unfit. Some women feel and perform better with a little bit of extra fat on their bodies. Some of these women are also pretty amazing athletes. We all know one of these girls in our gym. Muscular is okay, too. Some women put on muscle easily and naturally have low body fat. It doesn’t make them manly, or fitness freaks, or any better or worse than the skinny girl on her right who can run laps around her on the track or the chubby girl who can back squat the both of them. No surprise here, but some of the muscular women are pretty amazing athletes, too. I’m just saying that amazing and healthy comes in many shapes and sizes. PS: Beccy is the ONLY woman who has ever lifted over 2000 pounds in a powerlifting meet (2050 pounds)......Ahhhmazing.

04.01.2022 It is school holiday time and because our babies are at home, our trainers have made the call to stop classes and manned hours for the next 2 weeks so we can sp...end time with our children. We know our class members are committed and love getting together for that social time which is why we have put together some workouts for you all to do while we're away.
