10.01.2022 Stimulus 3: "Jobkeeper", announced earlier today. At a high level, eligible employers will receive a flat $1,500 per employee per fortnight, subsidising them to keep staff on. This includes FT, PT casuals (12mths+) and stood down employees. Payments will commence early May but be backdated to 1 March, and have been budgeted to be in place for the next 6 months. Some finer details based on what we know so far include that employers must demonstrate >30% decline in revenues due... to COVID, the program will be administered via the STP system, NFP employers fall within the net of the program and employers aren't required to pay the statutory 9.5% super guarantee on the subsidies passed through to employees. Legislation will be drafted and debated throughout this coming week. In the meantime, the ATO has recommended that employers register their intention to APPLY FOR JOBKEEPER HERE - https://www.ato.gov.au/general/gen/JobKeeper-payment/

05.01.2022 2.40pm Third stimulus package to come: Morrison By Jennifer Duke... A third stimulus package will be revealed in the next few days in a move to "hibernate" Australian businesses and help them through the lockdown. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said there were businesses that had been forced to close their doors and he wanted them to "start again" following the coronavirus pandemic. "The Treasurer and I will have more to say about that in the next few days, as we are preparing to put in place the third tranche of the measures that will be," Mr Morrison said. "We are doing everything we can to ensure we maintain as much of that economy as we can through this crisis, to support all of the essential services that are so necessary at a time like this. Part of that plan that we will be announcing will be to seek to hibernate Australian businesses," he said. This will include support from states and territories on the issue of commercial and residential tenancies, he said.
