21.01.2022 What are we doing to Keep You and Our Employees Safe? The health and safety of our guests and employees are our top priorities. At this time, Charters Towers Funeral Home is open and we are operating in accordance with current government restrictions and guidelines, including procedures around acceptable social distancing. We want to assure you that our team is taking proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. We are closely monitoring the direc...tives from the Commonwealth and State health authorities, and the Australian Funeral Directors Association. At this point there has been no direction from any source that funeral services should be cancelled. Services are limited to 100 attendees, and are required to adhere to the 1 person per 4 square metres social distancing rule. We use cleaning and disinfecting protocols to clean our facilities after each service with particular attention paid to high touch items. Catering facilities are currently closed to meet safe guidelines. We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting public areas every morning and evening. Proper and frequent hand washing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses. Our staff are reminded multiple times a day that cleanliness starts with this simple act. Additional hand sanitizer has been placed at entrances. Employees who exhibit cold or flu-like symptoms have been instructed to stay home from work. In an effort to minimise direct contact, we ask that you consider avoiding shaking hands or physical contact with the members of the family you are here to visit. We request that guests who are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath or have been in contact with or have recently travelled to any of the affected countries refrain from visiting our Funeral Home at this time. For peace of mind, web streaming is available as an option for your consideration We appreciate that people want to be at the service in person but sometimes, no matter how hard you try, circumstances mean you just can't be there. In the present health environment, it is not worth risking your own health or those of others to do so. We highly recommend you rely on trusted and respected health services for information on the virus. 17.01.2022 One of our most valued staff members, John Stevens, has just celebrated 50 years working in the funeral industry. He started working for Branley's then for the Nelson, Dean and now Watson family. He is a hard worker with a heart of gold and goes out of his way to help others in the community. To say we would be lost without him would be an understatement. Congratulations Johnny! And rest assured, he says he is not retiring anytime soon.
