25.01.2022 As promised (better late than never) I have Kay Jones's stunning African animal mixed media works, photographed in better light, also member Chris asked others to recreate a portion of our old door and knob... Helen has a digital work and Rob A has one in pastel & the other in acrylic. Chris is showing us how he can modify a work to make it even better by using different settings on his printer.

20.01.2022 2ND TO NEW... Now this is something to keep an eye on. Nicole began to move into the old Towers Toy Shop this morning. So far there's heaps of shelves & a headless Santa??? I am sworn to secrecy, but I can tell you that from what I've heard.... this is going to be a shop so different from anything the Towers have seen b4. It is definitely going to be an experience, thank goodness we don't have too long to wait.... early Decemberish!!

19.01.2022 Well hello Members & Followers: Firstly...a few photos of our member Nicole's amazing shop...2nd to New. Just been in for a look & could hardly recognise the place...so much turnover & such unusual stock.. just what the Towers needed. Secondly, we will be restarting for the year on Wednesday, February 17th at 10, (probably spend all day talking & drinking coffee.) Thirdly, our AGM will be held on Wednesday, 24th February at 10am in the Studios... which will be followed by a General Members Meeting. Finally, anyone who is thinking of joining, pop in one Wednesday or 2 for a coffee & chat b4 you make a decision. We may be just what you want, but it's best to look first.

19.01.2022 What a fantastic effort you have put in Tania. All the very best for your latest venture from the gang at Towers Arts.

19.01.2022 Just have a look at our Town through Sandra's eyes. What a beautiful place on earth this is.

19.01.2022 Only a couple of hours each day. Note the times, go have a look-see, opportunity to find out what they are up to south of the Tropics.

19.01.2022 This looks like a magic treat for the kids. A top idea from one of our newest local businesses. Well done Nicole.

18.01.2022 So many lovely treasures...our member Nicole's stock is ever changing..I am just off to pop in & see it all LIVE... right now.

18.01.2022 This sounds great. All those people who have asked Towers Arts about classes... we can definitely recommend Tania Ault, she's such a goer & a brilliant Artist.

18.01.2022 Gosh this is taking Art in the Community to another level. Kids colouring in their own T shirts.

18.01.2022 A few photos of current works on Club Day...Rob A with her gorgeous goat & those amazing parrots. Maggie is finishing off a book that I find hard to explain.... definitely made with love... definitely each page a Work of Art & the different methods of working with paper etc, are quite mind blowing. I believe this will be a Xmas present to someone who does not know about our page... so enjoy. Also a couple of small watercolours by Helen...2 of Kay's African collection that I am about to organise hanging on the back of... as we are going to place some work in 2ND TO NEW...Nicole's shop, opening approx 10th Dec in the old Towers Toy building... then we have Earl... showing why he hasn't done much this week... he's had a cataract op & is taking it easy as per Dr's instructions. Another op next week.... the continuing saga.

17.01.2022 In the past week, Towers Arts have been fortunate enough to spend some quality time with Stephen Clark from Good Thinking. Stephen happened to be a foundation member of Towers Arts and has a bit of a soft spot for watching us progress as a group & he has always been available for advice in the past 5 years. Earl Robinson is a member of the current RADF committee and he attended Stephen's training course last Saturday, I attended his RADF for the community course on the Sunday... and then stayed on for a very interesting workshop about CREATIVE COLLABORATION, which showed how when Groups work together, they can achieve so much more than on their own and pool resources..... I hope Towers Arts can take up this idea moving forward. We have always enjoyed good relationships with all other Artists/Groups in the Community & would assist others as much as our skills allow. 17.01.2022 Having a big clean up at TA this weekend. The spiders have not been idle during Covid times, setting the big room up for 1 Art evening for public to attend, Covid plan in place for the night.

16.01.2022 Last week we were lucky enough to have a lesson with Robyn on sewing onto paper. I will first post some photos of pages she has completed and then you will see the process of getting the paper prepared for sewing on. And yes, it will go on my "that looks really great, I will attempt it one day list!"... the fine white material is muslin & it's using watered down PVA glue.

15.01.2022 Part 2 of Meridi & Laurie's morning tea visit. Not only is Meridi a fantastic mosaic artist, but she's a brilliant seamstress & I have added some of her outstanding Art works... photos from the visit to her place

15.01.2022 First Club Day back for this year was fairly quiet but member Maggie made up for the lack of work done with her Quilling....2 beautifully completed works & 2 on their way. They have proven to be popular indeed at member Nicole's shop 2nd to New. Speaking of which, Nicole turned up to get some of her own Artworks done....& she is an inspiration to us all. Thanks go to Virginia for cleaning up the floors & much love goes to Laurie & Meridi who are battling ill health at present. But it was lovely to see such a gorgeous smile on Laurie's face when I popped in to say Happy Birthday to him.

15.01.2022 Details of Tania's classes are as follows

13.01.2022 And from last week's Hunt, we have Meridi's journalling, followed by 2 from our Michelle. We are hoping that Michelle is able to attend our upcoming workshop, as there will be a weekend in the middle of it (fingers crossed for Qld travel in tee next 6 weeks) This week's HUNT is...Washi tape, chair, newspaper, cat & a vase or jug. (note, having issues getting Michelle's Messenger photos to save & paste)

12.01.2022 Part 3 of Ravenswood "Xmas in July in August" post. We had a wonderful fun lunch at the IMPY (Imperial Hotel) & our Guide for the Day, Meridi, took us to as many highlights as we could fit in b4 lunch. The mosaics in the park are simply too amazing to believe. A couple of us had a funeral to attend in Townsville, so the photos finished at lunchtime.... but you can be sure that we will be going there again, as there's lots we didn't get to see.

11.01.2022 Charters Towers are lucky to have so much artistic talent. Isn't this painting by Cheryle Dempster simply stunning?

10.01.2022 Catching up on last Club Wednesday, the 26th. We are looking at what will work in with our Covid-Safe plan for our upcoming Workshop. It is looking like the Gallery may be the "go to" area on the busiest of days, here's hoping that Qld continues to be safe enough to travel around for our Artist. There are some photos showing Robyn A's journal, Robyn B's bags and member Chris has a nice new display behind his desk of work he has been up to recently. The other photos are of our visit to one of our members who is in Dalrymple Villa, getting back into Art and only too happy to show us their view, their lovely gardens and have the dogs come to see them. Great to see Roy looking so well, there is also his recently completed jigsaw.

10.01.2022 We were all lucky ducks today, as our esteemed President brought in a chocky birthday cake for Maggie's birthday, which was on Monday, which followed last week's stupendous passionfruit cheesecake. I am thinking we may have to all begin some serious exercise! The first photos showcase Maggie's new benchtop that she has just finished tiling & grouting, no mean feat when you live alone & aren't too tall or strong, but proof indeed that it's all about attitude. The final photo is of Maggie's last week project...a paper version of making a quilt.... cutting up paper & putting it back together to make something else.... in this case, it's pretty impressive & she never fails to surprise us with the final outcome. So Happy Birthday again for Monday Maggie!!!

10.01.2022 What a great idea. Buy from local Artists this Xmas. Some fantastic quality work available.

10.01.2022 Even though it was more of a social day, most members managed to complete something or attempt a new skill. The first photos are some of Rob B's latest works. Rob A was finishing her Bird of Paradise & had been trying out her new coloured inks. Maggie is doing something terribly interesting with shredded paper.... by weaving with it. Helen had just arrived with 2 of her recent Artworks framed. Earl is working on a watercolour portrait, Beryl on a small Watercolour, Eisha is winning the battle with a colourful top she has designed & I finished upcycling an old small canvas by turning it backwards & using one of Rob B's ideas on it. Meridi was lucky enough to score a few quick lessons on leaves by Robyn...& she then proceeded to prove she'd listened to every word & did some herself.

10.01.2022 Thanks Michelle for your journalling pages.

10.01.2022 I have nothing but admiration for the Artists in our Group, who weekly put their work "out there" for me to take photographs... whether they are happy with their work or not... not once has anyone told me to buggar off.... The gorgeous parrots are the work of Robyn A... how she has reversed them....I cannot even begin to guess...Rob B is doing a child's portrait, Beryl a frangipani, Earl...a country scene..Maggie is working on pages for a book.... this Butterfly page is beaut...iful... As for me....I've been taking photos... nothing startling... just banging away with my phone... took heaps the other day.... all crap! But I've been out & seen the tiniest frog imaginable & some of my frangipani. (The bad photography of mine was purple thunderclouds behind my frangipani bushes....I need to get some help from one of our newer members, Sandra, she's a wizz at photography.) See more

07.01.2022 Going to be great..Brilliant advert too!!

05.01.2022 I just realised that I did not manage to remember to post Meridi's last journalling page from the week b4 or this week's Hunt...which as I am so far behind, I think we'll use for this week too.. Checks; leaves; door; butterfly & a fold out card.

05.01.2022 Also on Club Day today, we had a number of the group working away on Watercolour. Rob B had made an incredible large workbook out of different things that she is trying, noting colours, techniques etc...her n Meridi are also working in small adult colouring in books, Rob A is working on a watercolour portrait & Earl has completed an ink wagon & a watercolour that he admits the background is upside down. Earl had almost finished a gorgeous sepia work of horses that he accident...ally smudged / ruined.... which gave us all the opportunity of discussing how we deal with "things that go wrong & are totally ruined" what an interesting topic & it is great to realise that we aren't alone in feeling overwhelmed when stuff goes wrong. Speaking of wrong, last week one of our member's cars was parked out back & her back window exploded outwards....poor thing, all cleaned up now though. See more

05.01.2022 Apologies from the photographer, but I had back to back meetings on Club Day...I however attach a couple of small pen & watercolours that Rob B whipped up the other day...a couple of stages of an Earl ink drawing... he has had a Cataract op on Thursday so we hope to see more work being done. A photo of Earl using his light box & a photograph that Rob A is going to be working from.

05.01.2022 Here we go team.... now they are giving us video to enjoy.... the Burdekin Artisans sure are an informed group.

04.01.2022 Here's the Go... no need to go to a lot of trouble for Xmas Fun....Tania has taken all the hard work out of it.... book in with her, go ahead & have some fun.

04.01.2022 Open Fri, Sat & Sunday, definitely worth a visit.

02.01.2022 Have a lookie at this guys. Hughenden are creating magic out west!

01.01.2022 MERIDI'S MAGNIFICENT MOSAIC GARDEN Yesterday, members of Towers Arts had an outing to Ravenswood. As per usual, I took many photos, however I must devote 1 entire post to Marvellous Meridi. Her & hubby Laurie welcomed us with morning tea at their lovely home, more to follow
