22.01.2022 The Miner's Cottage is currently setting up a stall at the new "Charters Towers Collectors Market" situated in the old Aston Antiques building at 28 Deane Street. The centrally located shop is being set up to cater for locals who wish to display and sell their collectables, antiques, artwork, vintage and retro items to the ever increasing number of visitors to Charters Towers. Managed by Mr. Steve Toon (and his wife Margaret) the business will open to the public early Februar...y... There is a limited number of stalls and some glass display cabinets available for rent on a monthly basis at a very reasonable rate. If you are interested in booking a stall? I urge you to contact Steve on site asap - Townsville dealers are showing interest in having a presence here and it would be a shame if locals missed on this opportunity to be involved in this co-operative.... Stalls/display cabinets can be hired for short or long term periods and the rates are very reasonable (commission applies on sales) It is envisaged that the market will operate for 6 or 7 days from 10 am till 6 pm..... 20.01.2022 The Miner's Cottage blacksmith's shop has been commissioned to construct a replica steam locomotive for a tourist attraction near Gundagai NSW. When competed, the train will be used for advertising a railway themed café opposite the iconic "dog on the tuckerbox" on the Hume highway between Melbourne and Sydney....

01.01.2022 The Miner's Cottage had a stall in Mossman Street on Tuesday morning for the TODAY show.... It was great to see so many local "towersites" up so early in the morning to welcome the weather presenter.... Our stall showcased the rich gold mining history of the city, and the gold panning activity was put on for kids on school holidays. We even found some alluvial gold in some local creek gravel....The quartz/gold rock was found by a prospector recently.... I borrowed it for the show and it got on National Television!

01.01.2022 Managed to get some free time in the blacksmiths shop at the cottage today - made some solid forged brackets for the stall next door, also made some custom built benches for displaying items for sale.. The collectors market is set to open on February 7th if all goes to plan... Check it out!
