25.01.2022 We know it can sometimes be overwhelming to understand how to make sure youre getting all the nutrients you need. We've broken down the Nutrition Australia Healthy Eating Pyramid below to help make sense of it all! The foundation layer, including vegetables and legumes, fruits, and grains, gives us them nutritients in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and are the main source of carbohydrates in our diets. This layer should make up the largest portion of the food we eat ...(around 70%!). The middle layer is made up of dairy, meat, fish, eggs, nuts, and seeds. These are awesome sources for calcium, protein, and other vitamins and minerals. The top layer refers to healthy fats, including extra virgin olive oil, nut and seed oils to boost our hearts and minds. We can also get healthy fats from avocados, nuts, seeds and fish! And remember to stay hydrated with plenty of water throughout the day! Our bodies are constantly growing and doing all kinds of awesome things. Lets make sure we give it the fuel it needs to help us power through our days. 07.01.2022 A big congratulations to our October CHASE Volunteer Excellence Award recipient, Angie! Angie is one of CHASE's HR Consultants and is an absolute rock of the organisation. When speaking about her motivation for joining CHASE, Angie says: "I joined CHASE in 2018 as a third-year student in psychology looking for opportunities to apply my enthusiasm for mental health promotion. CHASE particularly appealed to me, not only because I was greatly interested in mental health literac...y, but its mission resonated with me as someone who grew up (and still residing) in the Western suburbs. Poorer health and social outcomes in these suburbs do not stem from a lack of knowledge but a lack of opportunity to build that knowledge and self actualise." Do you also have a passion for health promotion and equality? Do you think you can bring something to CHASE? Applications to join us as a Community Engagement Leader, Evaluation Consultant or Evaluation Manager in 2021 close this Sunday. Learn more and apply here: https://forms.gle/kdYzGv124aR4ALcu5. 03.01.2022 Hey CHASERS, today is World Compliment Day! Sometimes all it takes is a kind word to lift someone's spirits and empower them to lead their best lives - and that's what we are all about here at CHASE. So, get involved and do your bit by tagging someone in the comments below and offering them a compliment. We've suggested some (non-appearance based) compliments to get you started.... Image description: Image is a text graphic post with seven written compliments listed as follows: 1) You are so thoughtful of others. 2) Your generosity inspires me to do the same. 3) You bring so much joy to the world. 4) Your energy is infectious. 5) I value your honesty, it is refreshing. 6) Your passion for _________ is very motivational. The quotes are coloured in red, and the background has a gradient tone of light pink to a light red. Top left corner reads, World Compliment Day whilst the bottom right corner reads, E6: Mental Health - one of the Education Phases in the CHASE program. Surrounding the background border are images of CHASE's branding of the leaf and a sideview face icon.

02.01.2022 Today on International Day of Charity we recognise the act of charity and its contribution to creating inclusive and resilient communities. This day is to highlight and honour the people who volunteer their time to help others. We can think of a few! The date of 5 September was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, whom received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress. 01.01.2022 Happy International Day of Friendship! The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. At CHASE, we connect our awesome mentors with students in Melbourne's West to empower them with the health education they need to improve health outcomes in their communities. Now that's what we call friends...hip! Learn more via the United Nations: https://www.un.org/en/observances/friendship-day Image credit: @dallasclayton on Instagram
