25.01.2022 Chased the sun to this gorgeous location with this man of mine. Thanks for so many amazing moments! Life with you has been so perfect, we are very lucky

24.01.2022 A couple of small Goannas we saw on our walk to the Whitehaven Beach lookout. Cheeky little guys.

23.01.2022 Manaia chose for us to spend the day at Cairns Zoom up on top of the Reef Hotel Casino.. A beautiful Australian wildlife park and a few tree surfing activities for the more adventurous at heart! Here's a few videos.

23.01.2022 Come visit us at the Airlie Beach Markets this morning! We have Zach manning the fort today. He's a highly experienced barista with 10+ years under his belt, and a local cafe owner. Head down if you love excellent coffee and give him a run for his money

22.01.2022 Looking forward to a big day tomorrow! We'll be at the Airlie Beach Market from 7am to 12pm :) We're also super excited to be down at PCYC in the afternoon for the Whitsunday Junior Rugby Unions Viking Cup! This should be a fun day for everyone travelling far and wide to be here! For those of you making the long-haul trip home; I have got your caffeine needs covered! Hot or cold :)... 22.01.2022 Here's a few snaps of what the Atherton Tablelands dished up for us over the last few days. We started at Henrietta Creek, Wooroonooran National Park. It was a great little campsite where we found this little swimming hole at the creek. It took us a few minutes to come to terms with the fact that crocodiles weren't going to eat us as when we arrived there it was shady so the water looked a little dark and we couldn't see the bottom everywhere . But mostly... we are from the... city and we're still trying to regain our inner "Bear Grylls" (give us a minute!). From here we did a day trip on the waterfall trail. A couple of the falls we saw were Ellinjaa, Zillie, Millaa Millaa. There were so many beautiful rainforest walks Next stop was Malanda. From here we've explored a few fresh water lakes - our favourite (which warranted a swim) was Lake Eacham. Called in to Crystal Caves which was a cool experience (not just for the kids either). This is one man's lifes journey, René Boissevain, all on display for the world. Crystals and precious stones collected over a lifetime from 30 different countries. Very cool display. We also got to crack open our own Geode to take home. We went on the hunt for the big trees too - Curtain Fig Tree, Cathedral Fig Tree, and the Twin Kauris. These forest giants were an amazing testiment of exactly what Mothernature can achieve when humans do not interfere. These old boys are seriously WOW! Perhaps one day we'll bring our children's, children back here to see how much more magnificent they've become over time . Swimming holes, waterfalls, rainforest, Australian native bush, farmland, views, picnics, quaint towns, lakes, campfires, 4x4 tracks, and family Couldn't ask for more. Enjoy

21.01.2022 Since we made tracks (and even in the planning phase); I've heard a handful of people say, "I don't envy you, living in a caravan with 6 kids". I don't usually go into too much detail, just have a chuckle in agreeance. The reality is; the caravan is simply a place to rest our heads at the end of a day. The outdoors is home from the minute we wake up to the time night falls, and sometimes well after. What does a family of eight do in a caravan at night? Well, the twins adapt to our reality, they are asleep by this time every night. And then it's family movie night, spiced rum (not every night), and candlelight. At the moment we're running a Fast and Furious marathon. I cherish these nights as much, if not more, than the ones we spent while living traditionally.

20.01.2022 A scenic one hour drive from Cairns on the Captain Cook Highway and we found ourselves in Port Douglas for the day.. We checked out the Port Douglas Market, it was a gorgeous little market full of crafty goodness. Sometimes it's a bit of a tease going to markets because everything is lovely, and, well, we live in a caravan and space is extremely limited. We haven't bought anything really along the way for this reason. We're very picky about the objects we choose to add to the convoy. We came across a little stall with a bunch of random coconuts carved into characters. The man who carved them was a solo hobbyist whose craft was totally worthy of a place in our tiny home Haven't named him yet but he's coming along for the ride.

18.01.2022 Cape Tribulation, where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef.. The Daintree Rainforest is said to be one of the three oldest in the world, with unique plants and animals found nowhere else! Jungle fever certainly rubbed off on all of us, which had us apprehensive to ever leave. I guess we'll go back soon I feel like I say this often, but, Cape Trib is going to take the cake for one of our top spots on the trip so far. I feel like we're finally getting in... touch with our inner Polynesian We stayed at two different camps, Safari lodge and Cape Trib Camping. Bruce and Israel went on a snorkelling tour with Ocean Safari to Mackay reef (part of The Great Barrier Reef). The kids swam every day at either the pool or a local swimming hole. We also drove the famous Bloomfield 4x4 track (which these days is very well manicured) and had lunch at the iconic Lions Den Pub. During that daytrip we also ventured down some more random sandy tracks in search of crocodiles - we did find a fair few actually! Finally, a few of the biggest highlights for me were camping pretty much directly on the beach in the best spot at Cape Trib Camping. Fires and candlelit beaches under the stars. Watching the sun & moon rise and seeing Koa get so excited because she was able to make her own sandcastles. It felt like a movie scene - it was perfect

18.01.2022 A few snaps from a couple of our day trips this week. Etty Bay & Muddy's Cafe in Cairns Etty Bay:... Since we've been in Queensland, we've seen a lot of signs and heard tales of the Southern Cassowary. I had no idea what a Cassowary was.. We ran into this little guy at Etty Bay - I just made it sound like a coincidence, but, it wasn't. The Cassowary is a local at this beach so the chances you'll run into him are pretty good. He's a handsome and proud fellow. He reminds me of an emu, only way more glamorous Besides the Cassowary, the beach itself is gorgeous. There's some giant trees with low-hanging branches that the kids love climbing. There are a couple swings hanging from the trees and on this occasion we had the 700m of beach all to ourselves. There is a BBQ area too which I'm sure we'll make use of in the future. Despite the crocodile warning signs everywhere, apparently it's all-good to swim here... Muddy's is a café: Well, we didn't actually go to the café, it just happens to be located within this fantastic park on the Cairns esplanade. There is a lagoon for swimming, further down a few playgrounds that sprawl along the esplanade. There are splash parks and fountains for the littlies, and at the end of it all, a decent skate park. I think we'll be back

17.01.2022 What an awesome little day we had ourselves. Markets in the morning, which proved that at the centre of it all, this is a family business! Our boys had Rugby in Mackay, so Bruce took them with Kleio & Banks which left me with Koa & Xylah. You can see little Koa perched in the little coffee van window, catching a bit of Airlie Beach breeze In the afternoon we went to the sweetest little event hosted by Adore Dance. There was live music with the sun setting over the Coral Se...a as a back drop. It was so beautiful. Met some new friends, ate some super good food from Poco Cucina & indulged in some delicious ice cream from Fruitylicious How could anyone be mad at that Tomorrow morning we'll be doing the Sunday session at Discovery Parks! See you there from 7.30am to mid morning! X

16.01.2022 Whitsunday Islands: Part 3 A couple short clips. The butterflies were in full force all along our walk up to the Whitehaven Beach lookout. FYI; you can camp on the beach here for just under $7 per person, per night - you will probably hear more about this from one of our future posts (when we return to camp here ourselves). It's a gorgeous walk and the lookout itself is breathtaking. In the past, people have told me that the sand here is the softest you will ever encounter ...and the water is the clearest, most pristine. That is no word of a lie The underwater videos were one of the major highlights of the trip for us. We picked up a mooring at Luncheon Bay for the night and this little gem of a spot was just a short little tender drive around the corner to Manta Ray Bay. We snorkelled with this friendly Maori Wrasse and his nine girlfriends. They are spectacular. They are friendly folk. Big daddy Wrasse was named Elvis, he would swim up and let us pat him. There was a small army of smaller tropical fish that accompanied him. There was some giant trevally that were just along for the free food This is a truely majestic species. This was our kids first experiences snorkelling and I think it's fair to say, they are hooked. The ultimate best part was that we didn't have to share this experience with a whole tour group, we had these gentle giants all to ourselves

14.01.2022 A couple nights ago we had a little stopover in Moree, a lazy 220km from where we kicked off in Coonabarabran. The place we stayed was one of many in the region that have tapped in into the Great Artesian Basin to provide a number of naturally heated springs. The kids all loved being able to swim for hours on end (including the biggest kid, Bruce). The Great Artesian Basin (GAB) is one of the largest underground water reservoirs in the world. It underlies approximately 22%... of Australiaoccupying more than 1.7 million square kilometres beneath the arid and semi-arid parts of Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Water emerges naturally from the Basin through cracks in the rock encasing the water, into springs, shallow water tables or into creeks and rivers creating a permanent water source even during dry periods. That would be the last stop before crossing the NSW/QLD border. We plan to return to explore NSW a lot more once the weather heats up again.

11.01.2022 We wound up at Ingenia Holidays BIG4 Cairns Coconut to celebrate Manaia's 10th birthday. We initially booked in just for the weekend but once we settled in, we didn't wanna leave and ended up staying here for 2 weeks. Easily one of the best Family friendly holiday parks we've ever stayed at.. Theres so much to do here!!! Waterslides, Spas, Lagoon Pool, Mini Golf, Outdoor Cinema, 2 Jumping pillows, playgrounds and a splash park. And kids galore! ... There were a lot of families with kids our boys' ages so they were pretty scarce, we only saw them when they were hungry.. They had the best time making a lot of new friends.. The weather was perfect for the whole time we were there, sitting at 28 degrees (or more) everyday! It was actually unbelievable. It was a little bitter-sweet celebrating this milestone without our families but I'm sure we will make up for lost time! See more

11.01.2022 Chasing Te R is all set up ready for a big market day here at the Airlie Beach Foreshore! Come down and try our Proud Mary Coffee Bean all the way from Collingwood, Melbourne! #proudmary

10.01.2022 So, today, being Market Day Eve, has been another busy Friday. Lots of running around in preparation for serving up some good, good morning brews. As usual, we are always looking forward to seeing all you lovely people from far and wide If the morning coffee isn't enough, come see us at our afternoon shindig We'll be at the outdoor dance concert, hosted by Adore Dance from 4.30pm! Located at the Coral Sea Marina, Airlie Beach.

08.01.2022 It's nearly been a month since we crossed the border into Queensland. As much as it killed us, we self isolated ourselves for 14 days, in line with the direction given by the Queensland Government. Because of that, our socials have been pretty quiet. Since finishing ISO we have been doing a few bits and pieces. - Catching up with good friends - Exploring nature - wheeling and dealing cars... - dealing with broken down cars (poor Des - he's now back on the road). Ps. Would it even be a road trip without a few mechanical issues here and there. - saw a frog bathing in the toilet - bought a swag - and, generally just getting acquainted with life on the road.. Here's a few snaps from our time in the Q.L.D so far..

07.01.2022 A couple pics from the property we stayed at in Julatten, QLD - Feathers and Friends. We're always super pleased when we find these little hidden gems. Accommodation can be quite expensive when travelling with kids as a lot of places charge per child as well. These kinds of places are key to the longevity of our trip. $16 a night bought us our (what felt like) own slice of paradise. 34 acres of tropical, manicured gardens and they offer 6 caravan sites. Carole and Lez, the hosts, are very welcoming. There's toilets, showers and even a swimming pool. No power but we have an off grid setup which has served us so well already.

05.01.2022 We’re back at the Airlie Beach Markets for the first time this year! Come down and say hi and grab a coffee or a shake! #proudmarycoffee

05.01.2022 Whitsunday Islands: Part 2

05.01.2022 Whitsunday Islands: Part 1 A week ago we set sail on the open waters of the Whitsunday Islands. It has proven to be one of the most epic backyards we could be lucky enough to encounter on our journey so far. For the first time, I'm kind of lost for words of how to describe it. Something about soaking in 360 views day in, and day out that just does it for me. Getting close and personal to some of the most amazing encounters nature can offer and having it all to ourselves wa...s definitely a highlight! I don't think ever seen an open night sky so full of stars.. it was wow! Now, it's back to reality for this crew, but hey, that's also pretty sweet. Ps: If you're ever wondering what it's like to be stuck on a boat for 7 days with 3 kids, a toddler, and a set of 10 month old twins - ask my brother.. he's still alive but we're not sure how sane he is! He is legendary!!

04.01.2022 Josephine Falls. 75km South of Cairns. There's an amazing little swimming hole with a natural rock waterslide. Plenty of fun to be had for the older kids, Bruce, and anyone who can withstand (what feels like) minus degree water!! I swear I felt my organs shutting down and hypothermia setting in - a bit cold for this girl. There was a closed off viewing platform at the bottom that you could sit in with smaller children/toddlers/babies, but besides that area, it's not ideal for littlies. For a refreshing swim at one of the prettiest swimming holes we've been to so far, you can't go past Josephine falls :)

03.01.2022 Mossman; The gateway to the Daintree. Mossmam Gorge is definitely up there with one of our flagged favourites. Not just the Mossman Gorge itself, but the whole area is absolutely beautiful. The roads seem like they've somehow been etched into the thick tropical greenery that line either side. In some areas there are natural archways that create a beautiful shady alley. We stayed at this gorgeous private property. Acres and acres of well-established tropical gardens being mai...ntained by the retired elderly couple that open their property to travellers. And for $8 per adult per night, children free, can't go wrong! Mossman Gorge, name derived from the Mossmam River that runs through it. The water is crystal clear and runs over large granite boulders. It was an amazing little swimming hole, especially after a 2.4km walk up and down some rough terrain, carrying babies and a toddler through the rainforest. It was a beautiful walk, well worth the trek.

03.01.2022 Moree, NSW to Maryvale, QLD. Parked up at this little pub where you can camp for free in exchange for patronage, or, you can pay a small fee to plug into power. Poppy didn't waste any time making himself at home and starting a fire. There was an enclosed playground just across a very sleepy road which ticked a box for the kids (and the adults)!

01.01.2022 Date night. Date life
