23.01.2022 Day 2: First day organised chaos. We were very privileged to get to treat the children in sun orphanage. Learning to work as a new team in very different environment to what were used to but we got there in the end!

20.01.2022 Day 3: Our team worked at an orphanage near Bên Cát. The orphanage is run by nuns and houses over 80 children. Despite a very tiring day, the children were very greatful and the team felt like we had finally got the hang of things

17.01.2022 Day 6: Thats it! Our last day we were privileged enough to treat special needs patients and some young school children. It was a 4 am start to drive from Ben Cat to Vung Tau totalling a 3 hour drive. We were so exhausted from our week of volunteering but it was so special to see our week out with these children and this amazing supportive team! @ Vng Tàu - Bin Xanh Và Nng Vàng

15.01.2022 What happens when you are chosen to be one of the few lucky dental clinicians on one of our trips? 1. Prepare your station for a full day of children! You can and WILL encounter a very different oral health landscape from the ones that you normally see in your office - expect the unexpected! 2. Occasionally you might be the triage dentist for the day - calling the shots on the childrens priority needs... 3. Treat the children - decayed teeth to fix, abscesses to drain and so on. 15.01.2022 Day 1: Meet up at CHAT HQ in Ho Chi Minh City. Packed a 1000 dental hygiene education packs. Checked all dental units and autoclaves were in working order. Checked we had enough supplies. Brought all supplies downstairs ready to load the bus tomorrow morning. Ended the day with a Bánh Mi @ Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

10.01.2022 We at Children's Health Aid Team would love you and your family and friends to come along and share some relaxing time with your "CHAT family", and to celebrate and welcome the New Year for 2020. You will meet team members from other trips and our committee members, as well as the ladies who knit our teddy bears. BYO everything - food, drinks, pets, family, friends. And something to sit on.

10.01.2022 Day 5: We went back to the same school as yesterday to continue our treatment on the kids! This included reinforcing DHE and students getting to observe and learn from the periodontist. There were many interesting clinical cases to see and we ended the day with a thank you from the caretakers and teachers!

It was great to have you along for the ride What a privilege it was serving the underprivileged children of Vietnam! The CHAT trip was certainly an unforgettable experience. The children were extremely brave throughout the treatment they received. A big thank-you to each of the group members! It was terrific seeing the willingness of each volunteer helping in whatever capacity he/she could; from clinical aspects to translating and everything in between. It was also an opportunity visiting areas of Vietnam I otherwise would have never gone too.
