20.01.2022 Our annual report for one of our sponsored children, Sauda Mutesi, from Nabukalu, Uganda. In Nabukala most people make a living from farming. Child labour is common and malnutrition, growth stunting, malaria and diarrhoea are common for children in this area. In comparison to Australia, Uganda only has access to 39% of safe water and children spend on average 6.1 years at school compared to 12.9 years in Australia. Our support for the children in this community has led to increased healthcare facilities and enrolment in schools. This has also helped communities with the resources they need to face COVID-19 by providing access to clean water, education, healthcare and access to reliable food sources. 09.01.2022 Each year the team at Chatswood Dental Associates completes training for medical emergencies at our practice. Medical emergency training in the dental practice is a hands-on course. The training is designed to best prepare and provide our team with the skills to effectively manage medical emergencies within the practice. We do this to ensure we are prepared for any emergency situation that may arise on our premises and to give our patients the best care possible. The medica...l emergency training covers the most common life threatening medical conditions, how to recognise them, how to conduct an accurate clinical assessment and lead the team in providing effective treatment. We have a team based approach and utilise the latest certified techniques to assess emergency conditions in patients. Our team practices CPR training, advanced resuscitation techniques, oxygen usage in medical emergencies, use of airway devices, drug protocols and scenario exercises are used for the duration of the course. Equipment training is also utilised for airway management, respiratory and cardiac support by using advanced airway devices, supplementary oxygen therapy, bag and mask ventilation, use of drugs and use of a defibrillator and pulse oximetry.
