25.01.2022 1 week to go! For what, you ask? 1 week to the district 90 international #speech contest. Join us! Selina is our second member to reach this level. The first was 1997.... Next step in a wonderful #Toastmasters contest year with: - Anthony representing us in both Table Topics and Evaluation, - Han winning area 6 humorous speech contest (but sadly not getting a shot at the division title due to pandemic affecting plans) and - Selina winning Hawkesbury Division international speech contest. (More pics and messages congratulating Selina on: https://www.facebook.com//4933/permalink/1791841834286160/) - [Melanie representing her other club winning area 25 international speech contest and competing in Macquarie Division.] A positive and supportive #learning environment created by our members, friends (inside and outside area 6) and visitors help us reach new heights. 24.01.2022 Exciting news! Abhi has completed Level 1 Pathways, after a year with the club! We are so proud of his achievement and gave a toast to him yesterday! Its a fantastic milestone for Abhi in his toastmasters journey. This all boils down to his commitment to attend the regular meetings to work on his communication skills. During the past 12 months, Abhi has put his hands up and volunteered whenever possible for various meeting roles like chairperson, toastmasters, tabletopics masters etc. to sharpen his public speaking skills. He has demonstrated the enthusiasm, willingness, and determination for hard work, which are the essential ingredients for success. Well done, Abhi! 23.01.2022 We are very honoured and proud to be chosen as the only stopover in Australia on 17th Nov, by the Toastmasters International President, Richard E. Peck. We are also astounded to hear from Richard that we are the 10th club he visited in his virtual world tour to every country in the world! Many thanks to all who put in enormous efforts and time preparing for this special online event last Tuesday. It was a brilliant meeting, which was well run with high precision, efficiency... and success. Congrats to Chair (Colin), Zoom Master (Maon), Executive Team, speakers, evaluators, and all those who were involved. An estimated total of 40+ attendees tuned in for this special event. They included past and present Division Directors (Lee and Mike), past and present members, as well as visitors from overseas (e.g. Thanh from Budapest, Hungary; and Craig from Frankfurt, Germany). This shows how resilient and adaptable toastmasters are, and how well we connect globally as a worldwide community via online event like this, a testament of the content of Richard's enlightening keynote speech. We are also delighted to receive a testimonial from a past member (i.e. Ian from Melbourne), who is still active in toastmasters, that CER is still like how it was when he left in 2014, i.e. the club meeting is full of energy and is a great way to start the day! For the prepared speeches, Amanda completed Level 2 Dynamic Leadership Pathways, whereas Selina was only one speech away from completing the same Pathways program on delivery of their speeches in this session. Well done girls! In providing feedback at the closing of our meeting, Richard expressed that he was very impressed by the fun and interesting format of our meeting especially the table topics section, with Australia as the theme for that day. Are you ready to visit our next club meeting to join in the fun, and learn to be a proficient public speaker? Contact us via [email protected]

23.01.2022 Yesterday was Pragyas birthday! Happy birthday, Pragya! This is a beautiful pic of Pragya showing her gorgeous Colgate smile, when we sang birthday song at the meeting. A lovable lady.... Hope you had a wonderful day celebrating your special day, Pragya!

20.01.2022 Guess who turned *80* years young this month? (We couldnt believe it either: toastmasters must maintain youthful looks ) We had the pleasure of singing happy birthday to our charter member, Jan!... Our president made a personal "uber-flowers" delivery. Sadly, we couldnt help Jan eat her delicious-looking birthday cake. Fun and fellowship from as far afield as Central Coast, past Chatswood and out to Canberra celebrating a major milestone apart and together! (Is that an oxymoron?) Congratulations Jan!!!

19.01.2022 Happy birthday, Melanie! We sang happy birthday to Melanie at our coffee session today. Melanie is one of the most active and long-time member in CER. Being an experienced member, she also holds executive roles at National level in toastmasters. Melanie always has a big smile on her face. Poised, full of sunshine and radiates positive energy at all times. She is also the technology wizard, who keeps us entertained by striving to use tricks and tools in Zoom to engage the ...audience in every CER meeting. I am always inspired by Melanie, and many others in this club during our weekly meet up. Life is like a mirror. Smile at it, and it smiles back at you Peace Pilgrim I love those who can smile in trouble - Leonardo Da Vinci Toastmasters changed my life. They really did. I dont know what I would have done without that positive boost Chris Matthews, a former famous Toastmasters. Join us for our next toastmasters excitement. Stay tuned!

19.01.2022 Commitment is an act, not a word Jean-Paul Satre. Anthony, is an Area 6 Director, and one of the most inspiring, and committed CER club members. Often seen going above and beyond guiding those who are new in their club roles. Also does a lot of background work for our regular club meetings. Never hesitates to share his sound knowledge in toastmasters pathway program.... In the first hybrid meeting, he surprised everyone by showing how flexible and talented he can be. He transitioned from his techie role to delivering an impressive table topics speech seamlessly, when being called upon unexpectedly. Wow!

16.01.2022 Gone with the old, and come with the new! We had an awesome night on 10th July, celebrating the change over of executive team in the Chatswood Early Risers Toastmasters Club. There were plenty of laughs. Food was delicious, and atmosphere was terrific. We are so passionate in toastmasters that even when at play, we practised our impromptu speaking skills. The restaurant also complied with the restrictions and regulations during this crazy period.... As VPPR, I am definitely positive about the outlook, and hopeful of what is in store for us in the new financial year. Very excited to work with this bunch of energetic and intelligent professionals! It really helps when you connect with like minded people who work towards the same goals! (Pics supplied by Amanda and Cecilia)

14.01.2022 Our venue closed with little notice. We were led into the new world by our calm and collected president. Without skipping a beat, meetings switched to online with the same agenda, energy and enthusiasm. We serve each other, deliver excellence in our assignments and continue club and personal plans in spite of being separated by walls.... Lessons are learned every meeting! Our coffee catchup has also gone virtual! Greater benefits in a different speaking arena, travel time reduced to logging on and clicking a link. Call if you want to drop in. We know you want to. #VirtualVictories #Toastmasters #WhereLeadersAreMade [Missing some faces, as I only asked to take the photo after some had to drop off] Anthony Janet Julie Melanie

10.01.2022 We are so proud of Selina! WOOHOO - Second place at the District 90 International Speech contest in an intense field of 6! Her message inspired an online audience of ~200 and an extended audience of club members supporting in absentia. During her contestant interview, she even managed a little PR on the side ;-).... Congratulations Selina! We had more fun at our last 2 club meetings with: - our second and third international visitors - Taryn from a 16 out of 16 DCP club in Virginia, USA; and Collin from a fellow #wowfactor winning club in Alberta, Canada. - our second past member Charles visiting and also joining our post-meeting coffee chat. - a visitor from a local club in North Sydney, Joshua - getting on our feet for tai chi breathing as part of a speech! We are a Presidents Distinguished 10 out of 10 club for our third consecutive year: the first in Hawkesbury Division and one of the first 3 in our district of ~151 clubs; the co-second largest in Hawkesbury Division. 03.01.2022 2020 was an unprecedented and challenging year. Many lost their lives. Many were also unable to see their loved ones, and spent days in isolation fighting the virus as one. Toastmasters all around the world have been impacted in an unusual way. Nevertheless, we have survived and re-emerged stronger, supported each other and achieved a lot via virtual and hybrids meetings. May 2021 be a great year away from all negativity, and unpleasant memories of 2020. Cheers to a fresher outlook and new beginnings in 2021 ~ From all of us in CER.

02.01.2022 Added VPM, Jan's greetings in this final version. Wishing you a safe and happy holiday. God bless.
