22.01.2022 A message from the Smith Family Good morning, With this year placing increased financial pressure on families, the Saver Plus Program has proven to be a great way to help by providing $500 towards essential school costs as well as offering budgeting education and support.... The aim of the program is for participants to achieve a savings goal of $500 , which is then matched by a further $500 per family which must be spent on education expenses. Saver Plus is funded by the Federal Government and has been delivered by community organisations across Australia for 15 years, assisting over 45,000 families. The matched savings has assisted with costs such as: School Uniforms and shoes Text Books and Stationary needs School Camps and excursions Sporting, Art, Dance or Music fees Laptops or iPads The application form is on a Seesaw message sent to families. 12.01.2022 Good morning National Road Safety Week is approaching, and the aim is to honour those we have lost and a chance for all of us to be involved in making our roads safer, including those around our schools, especially for our kids. There are a number of ways we can recognise and raise awareness of Road Safety on our roads. Each year, approximately 1200 people die and 44,000 are seriously injured on Australian Roads. This year’s theme is ‘Drive so others Survive.’ Your School... Crossing Supervisors have been provided with yellow ribbons to wear to show support for the week. We have posted them to your school and should be received in the next week, if you could please distribute to the School Crossing Supervisor Team once received. The daily themes to share are listed below:- Take the pledge - Lead the way by promising to drive so you and others survive (Monday 16/11/2020) Safe Driving to Work support your employees to drive so others survive (Tuesday 17/11/2020) Move Over Slow down for emergency and roadside workers - when you see flashing lights slow down to keep them safe (Wednesday 18/11/2020) Protecting every life - Drive safely to protect every life including pedestrians (Thursday 19/11/2020) Share a light turn your lights on for road safety and protect your mates and ensure everyone gets home safely (Friday 20/11/2020) We’re all getting busier and often multitasking to get through the day, even when using the road. It is especially important to be road safe around our schools and remind parents to:- Put Road Safety first every day Follow school zone speed limits Obey parking signage, especially in drop off and pick up zones Never double park Obey the directions’ of school crossing supervisors at all times. Communities, schools, sporting groups and workplaces are encouraged to support the week through sharing information or by simply promoting NRSW via electronic VMS’s, school newsletters, website and social media reminding parents the importance of being road safe around schools. Visit roadsafetyweek.com.au for more information about NRSW. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected].
