Over here in Australia more and more shops/businesses are closing by the day but at this stage we are still able to get orders out. 23.01.2022 Sometimes (I) we assume that All skill levels of Leather workers can or should be able to sew or lace their tooled covers to a liner successfully, without stitching outside the turned over edge binding on the inside of the item being sewn. It never occurred to me until recently, following a conversation with one of my customers, that my liners are just not suitable to everyone of different skill levels, and that it would be great if I could make some of my liners with a 10mm... folded inside edge binding as well as the current 5mm edge. The extra width of the folded edge binding would then allow the stitched/laced item to be trimmed back close to the stitch to reduce the width of the edge binding. Not all of my liners are suitable for a wider edge of course, as card pockets have to be a standard width to accomodate credit cards etc. I will be offering 8 of my current range in both 5mm & 10mm edge binding, as well as the New raw edge liners which are proving very popular. I am hoping to have the new 10mm binding products ready for Sheridan in May. I am planning to put a short instruction video on my website, so that you can see clearly how we trim back the binding after being stitched. All that is required is a small steel edge ruler and scalpel, together with a steady hand. Cheers, Keith Johnstone.
