03.01.2022 Hi, I'm Sandra and here to let you know how I became Timothy's business partner. I met Timothy in 2016 when I relocated from Elcho Island to Gunbalanya in my role as a Literacy and Numeracy trainer. Tim was then the supervisor of the gardening team and participated in the training of the group. We connected immediately through our shared interests and soon both our families spent time together on his homeland and in my family home in Darwin. We wanted to share the happy life ...of homeland living with children in a book that aboriginal children would enjoy; supporting the development of their literacy in a familiar context. This idea morphed into sharing the skills and knowledge their family already had. We decided to share the art of their culture and tradition since it is amazing... We know this will give better access to mainstream economy and develop self-determination, for both of us. We work together with the support of a business mentor from Many Rivers, Michael, and finance ourselves. We aim to give the artists a greater share of the sale price of their art and provide employment and training into the future. The whole family is privy to the planning and decision making as we take the journey towards stronger futures together. ...1.5m...
