25.01.2022 My poor Dolly has been suffering from a rooster injury for weeks now. I’ve been unsure what her issue is, she’s been crying, limping and for the last few days she has been laying on the ground unable to walk. Finally i took the trip to the vet and I’m glad I did! Turns out the rooster had pierced her skin and she had a large infection. The picture below show just the start of the loads of stuff that came out of her. So my beautiful chicken is on her way to be a happy healthy chicken again.

24.01.2022 If youre looking for a great bedding material, for your fluffy friends, look no further than rice husk. It is very absorbent, doesn’t compact down and it's hard for the hens to push out of their roost box when they decide to reorganise it. I have 5kg bags of rice husk available for $20. :)

19.01.2022 So I have just finished one of my most stressful hatch so far... although I find every hatch stressful. During the hatch the eggs were being attacked by ants and I couldn’t work out where the ants were coming from... well I found them. They had moved into my incubator

11.01.2022 It's a lovely sunny day today, I think we are all glad it is the last day of winter. I have given them their heater just in case they get cold but so far they have slept in the sun, I guess that's the thing about being black, it's nice and warm.

10.01.2022 I love my Brinsea mini II advance incubator, it’s so easy to use. It has temperature control, auto egg turning, auto humidity and it counts down the days so you don’t have too. It also has an alarm to tell you if it gets too hot or too cold. Lately it has been getting too cold over night so i’ve had to make a little insulated box to keep it warm. The count down continues
