25.01.2022 "I want it but i don't want it to do that!" The demise of purpose. For generations, dogs have been selectively breed for purpose. Herding, Guardi...ng, Hunting etc. With today's "modern lifestyle", the working hours are seemingly more & the lifestyle hours seem to be less. So why is it that there are so many working type dogs being bred, purchased by homes that have seemingly "no time" or jobs? & then owners "just want the dog to stop doing X?" That's a bit insane isn't it? 1. KNOW WHAT YOU OWN - study the breed & you'll know what makes them happy. Happy dogs, are easier dogs to live with. 2. PRIORITIZE - Get up earlier, stay up later. Stop making excuses about your "lack of time". 3. FULFILLMENT - What are you bringing to the dog box? Why should your dog do anything for you, when there is a lack of return for them? A tonne of dogs are lacking a large amount of exercise, a large amount of mental stimulation & a large amount of fulfillment. A tonne of dogs are stressed, overweight & frustrated. This all manifests into destructive behavior, aggressive behaviors, self harming etc. Overall, working dogs don't want tonnes of treats & cuddles. They most certainly don't want to be in kennels or crates 6, 8, 10 hours a day when you go off to work. They want jobs! A consistent & fair human they can count on to be part of a team with, to live the most of their very short lives with purpose. Stop with the excuses & start with the effort or just don't get them at all. We owe them that much.

23.01.2022 How to get a salon bath at home! With the only different being a dryer, you can 100% get a nice bath at home! If your dog has any matting STOP and book in with a groomer. Water is like super glue to matting, it'll make it tighter and more painful without the right training. 1. Rinse well! 2. Condition, condition thoroughly and everywhere, this breaks down the grease, hydrates the hair and makes shampooing way easier and more effective!... 3. Rinse! Look at allll that undercoat straight away 4. Shampoo! Make sure you get a full lather EVERYWHERE! bum, face and feet (in between the toes) 5. Rinse 6. Shampoo... Again! 7. Dry! You can really do this with a handheld dryer on cool, brushing while you go will seperate the hair and make it quicker! 8. Sniff and enjoy See more
21.01.2022 The art of training a dog owner. Dog owner tells me: Hi, my dog pulls on the leash and runs into the woods after deer if I let it off leash. Me: Okay. What's th...e breed? Owner: A siberian husky mixed with a coon hound. Me: Okay, so you have a musher mixed with a hunting type of dog? Owner: yes. Me: ok, what are these breeds bred to do? Owner: well, half of the dog should be pulling and the other half run into the woods and hunt. Me: Yes. And your problem was? Owner: it pulls on the leash and runs after wildlife. Me: yea, it appears that you have a dog meant for pulling and hunting. Owner: yes, that's correct. Can you train it out of the dog? Me: Do you have any interests? Owner: Eh, yea sure I do. I like to paint and watch movies. Me: can you consider quitting doing that? Owner: no, I don't think I can. But what does this have to do with dog training? Me: would you consider doing something else that gives you the same pleasure you get from painting and watching movies? Owner: I mean, sure I can do other things but it's not as fun. Me: ok. And what can you offer a musher that is more fun than pulling and a hunting dog that is more fun than hunting? The dog owner is silent for a while. Owner: That's a good question. I don't know. Me: neither do I. Owner: perhaps I should had gotten myself a PlayStation? Me: haha, yea if you dont like hunting or being a lot outdoors training perhaps this dog isn't for you. Owner: yea, one should perhaps read up more before getting a dog. But it's awfully cute! Me: yes, I understand that. Owner : it sheds a lot too. My husband goes crazy of all the fur everywhere. Me: mmm, that's something you have to deal with. Owner : yes, it was even hairs in the stew last night. Me: yea that's not uncommon. Owner : but you know what? I met a husky when I was 12. It was so beautiful. Ever since I've always wanted one. Me: too bad you didn't meet a PlayStation instead. Owner laughs: alright, I think I'm starting to unders

15.01.2022 Out for brekky
15.01.2022 These are littermates - one was neutered pediatrically, the other left intact. Notice the permanent puppy-like body of the dog on the left. His head is narrow, ...his chest is narrow, his angulation is bad, he's taller than he is long because growth plates don't get the proper signals from testosterone or estrogen on when to close. This is what pediatric neuter does to your dog. It leaves them more susceptible to an incredible amount of health issues (joint issues, multiple types of cancer). Meanwhile, the only fact in favor of early neutering is to prevent unwanted litters which can be prevented by not letting your dog roam - something we should already be on top of as responsible dog owners. Dogs need hormones to grow and mature properly. Do your dog a favor and wait until he's completely matured before neutering! Dani Woodson
14.01.2022 Duffy lots of smoothies this week in time for it to warm up!
13.01.2022 Limit free range, teach the place command & crate train. Be present with your dog & the walk. Get off your phone.... If you have a dog with problem behaviour, adopt the NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE training style, Recall for a high value meal, put meals in Kong toys and not in bowls. Engage in a tug game with your dog. Enjoy a cuddle on the couch, once you've invited your dog up. Groom your dog. Brush them, even if they have short fur (zoom groom), clip their nails, clean their ears.
12.01.2022 No wonder it's been so hot
12.01.2022 Just a reminder of no show and reschedule policies. Ive lost close to $1000 this month in missed or late appointments I've had to cancel, i was thankfully working extra hours, but any other time of the year would have been devastating. This is my only source of income, I'm not paid an hourly wage so it is important if I have an appointment set up l, I need at least 24 hours notice to get someone else in. If you're more than 10 or even 5 minutes late depending on your spot it ...will be cancelled. I really hate confrontation, it makes me incredibly uncomfortable but I really need to emphasize how much my family and pets rely on this business At the moment I am booked up till mid October so if you lose your spot you've got a big wait. There's no squeezing anyone in the next few days.
11.01.2022 From Jan next year I'll be setting permanent hours, id love to get a general idea of which would suit more people but I understand I might unfortunately lose clients either way I will be increasing my daily hours to 8-5 but decreasing my days to four days a week. This year has been incredibly hard on my body and mental health so I'd like to get a better balance. I am VERY guilty of working 6 or even 7 days a week to keep people happy and unfortunately it has come at a cost Either Wed to Sun or Sat to Tue Let me know!
10.01.2022 First groom for this cutie!

09.01.2022 Responding to messages now until 9am and then again this afternoon No room till October! I do usually have other groomers to recommend around here but I do think they're all booked as well. Please book in advance, I have tried to put a tonne of posts up but I understand they're missed
07.01.2022 PLEASE do not use scissors or any other sharp tools to take out matting at home. The only safe way is at a professional groomer with the right tools (good clippers, a short blade and training/experience).
