24.01.2022 I dont like to call out wipes system chemical free to be honest because water is a technically a chemical, as are the compounds in essential oils. This term is thrown around carelessly but I think we all know what it means. We want to know that the elements contained wont have a detrimental effect on our health. Cheeky Wipes can be used with water only, or water and a few drops of essential oil. No parabens, no artificial fragrances or preservatives, triclosan or SLSs, t...o name a few. Sure, theres other wipes on the market that dont contain these either, but then we need to look at the wipe itself. Is it biodegradable? Compostable? What about the packaging? I just read it takes 500 years + for it to break down, meaning that every pad ever made is still sitting in landfill Horrific thought! January seems like it was 3 years ago and we find ourselves half way through 2020. I feel like I have no concept of time. Does anyone else feel like this? While were keen to rush through this odd period of time, are there any things from right now that you want to continue, once this all passes? For me, Im enjoying the sleep ins. My husband is not rushing out the door to work to spend 3 hours on public transport each day, which means our household is sleeping in a little longer. We took t...hree wipe samples and toilet paper, and put them in jars of water to see if/how they broke down. More than three years later, here are the results: Toilet paper has broken down "Flushable Wipe" a little fuzzy, but still intact "Non-flushable wipe" fully intact "Biodegradable wipe" fully intact Wipes join forces with other grubby "unflushables" to form fatbergs, that block our sewers.
